    Default brazilian wax

I think I want one. I just got my eyebrows done for the first time yesterday. It hurt, but in some weird way I liked the pain, now I'm thinking about going for a wax, down under. I heard it looks pretty and feels like silk. I know I'm like 20 years late.....I'm a plucker and a shaver........How bad is it?

hey you let me know how it goes. My friend told me that when she did the brazilian wax, that she wanted to curl into a ball and cry after. LOL I know she was being dramatic, but in all honesty she said she wouldnt do it again. Wuss
I havent done it, so actually I am no one to talk, but hey, if you say you liekd the feeling ofyour eyebrows being plucked then I guess you will be a better candidate for brazilian waxing than I'll ever be. Leave me with my Skintimate and Gillete Venus thanks! haha

Hey there,,, go for it. It will hurt alot the first time though. That is what I try to tell girls all the time....it will hurt ALOT more the first time and less and less each time. It will never be pleasant but after a year or so it was like nothing at all. And it is SOOOO worth it. I love that feeling...no stubble etc. I did it for four years. I am now shaving again just because I am doing laser hair removal and you cannot wax in between sessions and boy do I miss the smoothness of it. I HATE the sandpaper from shaving....ugh!
Go for it hon,,,if you can stand the pain the first few times you will not regret. Just watch out for ingrown hairs.

Yeah let me know how it goes. I'm too scared to do it, I got my legs waxed and it hurt but maybe now that I'm older it'll be better. I want to do it but I'm scared.

My friend did it and she said that she cried it hurt so bad but she did get it done again so...go figure.

Let us know how it goes.

It will hurt like hell the first few times. There are different waxing methods and the best utilizes "hard wax". It doesn't rip off a layer of skin like strip wax. The only downfall to waxing is that you have to wait 3-5 weeks between waxings so you have to do some maintenance with tweezers. I have tried a million other hair removal techniques and waxing is my favorite. You only have to deal with it once a month, your skin is super smooth and soft and never gets stubbly, fewer ingrown hairs, no razor burn or bumps. Sometimes the skin gets red and really bumpy right after the waxing, but it goes away in a couple of hours so don't freak out. Just don't spray any perfume down there that night. And get yourself a bottle of Tend Skin.

The pain from eyebrow waxing is soooo different from a bikini wax. I've had a few (before I invested in lasering) and it hurt so much my kitty was BURNING! I also had problems with ingrown hairs, even though I exfoliated several times a week.
Depending on what town/city you live in, it may be difficult to find a good place for a Briazilian. Even in New Orleans, a lot of the better salons won't do them, or even wax a little of the top of the strip!
Of course if you're someplace like NYC, Miami, LA or SF you shouldn't have a problem finding a good place.
The main problem with waxing if you're a dancer is that you have to grow it out to a certain length for the wax to "grab", plus hairs grow at different cycles so you could see regrowth sooner than you'd like from new hair coming in that grows at a different rate.
With lasering you can still shave between visits (never wax or pluck it though!). The main problem with lasering is that it's expensive, and you really need to do research to find someone competent.

Oh, and DON'T TAN for several days after bikini waxing! The waxed area will come out more tan!

I've never waxed either but am considering it. I also have a problem with ingrown hairs and nothing so far seems to help. I've tried expholiating, lotions, shaving only downward, the deodarant thing, nothing works. If any one has any good methods let me know and I'll try them. If nothing works I'm going to wax. My friend said it felt like the lady was going to rip her lips off. That kind of scares me.

Ugh plucking the hair?? :o I can't barely stand to pluck my ingrown hairs down there. I have the same prob as Fawn. I'll try anything to have a smooth bikini line. Plus I always go commando so when I DO wear thongs at work they rub my bikini line raw from shaving. I hate it. I'll either hate it or love it I'm sure. I just need a brave chic to go in with to get waxed together.

Fawn- try using Tend Skin daily or using a scrub daily in the shower. The level of pain not only depends on the "victim" but also the waxer. Some waxers are more skilled than others.

CarmenNYC- for me it's usually 2-3 days of absolutely no hair. The new growth takes quite some time to actually grow, so I would say I don't get any "stubble" for probably a week. The stubble I do get is actually quite soft and not itchy like shave stubble can be.

It gets better after the first time, but unfortunately the first time does hurt like hell. However the bonus is that you feel like silk down there afterwards.

don't ever get waxed (or dental work for that matter) during the 5 days before or after Aunt Flo. Everything is more sensative to pain then. Also, a half hour before your wax, try taking a mild painkiller, at least some ibuprofen or something. It's still gonna hurt, but it is sooo worth it.

I had my first one done in Nov and it wasn't that painful (really). I don't have a high threshold for pain at all and I am saying it wasn't that bad! I've had two since then andit really has gotten a lot easier to take. I think the fact that the esthetician sprays my area with anesthetic numbing spray a few minutes before waxing helps a lot. I don't feel much more than a sting. All in all I'd say try it at least twice.

I waxed a little around my kitty once and it hurt so bad it brought tears to my eyes. And I do have a high threshold for pain..... It really stings.

I'm too wimpy for waxing. Eventually, I'll just go get laser hair removal.

Besides, I saw something on the news last year about a women who got herpes from her waxing salon--it freaked me out. She actually got the herpes on her eyebrows (which was what she was having waxed, onbviously) and they assumed it had come from the spoon or whatever they use that had just been used on someone with herpes who had gotten a bikini wax. Why someone with a herpes outbreak would want to go get waxed, I do not know, but apparently she did (though from what I've read, apparently many, if not most, people who have herpes don't even know it, so maybe she didn't know what it was). Don't a lot of places get the wax from one big communal pot?

Anyway, I'm sure most salons are very sanitary and this was an isolated incident, but jeez... Herpes is forever. I'll stick with the razer until I get around to the laser.
Hey girls well I am a hair stylist in Texas and I do lots of Brazilin waxes guy's and girl's anyways that salon must have been dirty!! When doing a wax yes it is all in one pot but you use pop cycle sticks and use one throw away use one throw away etc and so forth. I think waxing is great if you can not do the permanent hair removal and like someone said it all depends on the waxer. I think just starting out they should pull in the same direction of the hair growth after you get really use to doing this then you can go in the opposite direction unless you are pron to getting ingrown hairs.
This is the greatest thing besides permenant hair removal it is silky smooth and the hair grows back softer and just a little thinner.
I know I saw this to late but curious did you get it done?

I had it done once when I was living in New Orleans and it wasn't too bad but I'm not sure if it was a "full Brazilian" the way it's supposed to be done. I heard that they are supposed to go in your butt crack and all and the lady didn't do it. Still I loved that she waxed all in there and stuff. What hurt most was the top towards the front to me. Certain areas were just more painful, but it really wasn't that bad. I live in Tampa now and don't even know where I'd get it done or if I want to let it grow to do it in between.
