It's the same address anyhow. I can understand why Solid Gold or other club chains might want to invest in taking over upscale Manhattan clubs after the vast success of Penthouse Executive Club's opening over the past few months. However, even though Manhattan has lots of upscale club customers, the number of customers is not infinite. After seeing the results of PEC's opening on business levels at SCORES and other upscale clubs, I get the sinking feeling that the upscale Manhattan club market has reached the point where new clubs or clubs being hyped under new management will now only serve to "rearrange" the same number of customers (i.e. Solid Gold's gain has to come at the expense of some other club's loss).

Bottom line - there will be more dancers working in Manhattan, paying the same ridiculous stage fees, but who will actually be earning less money as the same number of Manhattan upscale club customers gets spread thinner and thinner amongst the clubs.

Melonie I totally agree. I believe the only reason Penhouse was so sucessful is it's location, size, good food, low house fees with high earnings, and the whole Penthouse name. Silk opened up and was shut down within a year. If Solid Gold wants to be sucessful they better have something different to offer customers. NYC guys have seen it all. Clubs in NYC are practically cookie cutter clubs. If I go here to check it out I will post an honest review.

well i think penthouse is so sucessful for a number of reasons, most of all because the size and decor are unparalled in the city. therefore it attracts the upscale set of clients , see scores.
ebony you are completely right that solid gold should have something unique if they want to attract buisness. its alot of bullshit, alot of marketing. clients judge the book by its cover.

yes it is the old manhattan gentlemensclub. there is no housefee as of now and the tipout is your dj,and housemom ($50). the club management has a few ideas that should add a little flare to the club so it is not just like every other stripclub in the city. ladies there are enough gentlemen in this city and tourists to provide each club with its share of guests, so i donot think you ladies should worry about the watering down- effect with all these new clubs springing up. if the club provides a beautiful enviroment with gorgeous woman and treat their with class and respect, that club will have no problem succeeding. the management team of the new Solid Gold is here to provide that enviroment for all our guests and all the ladies who join our team. this club is going to be one of ny city's premier clubs. yes the club will be a "gown" club during the week and we will allow short dresses during the weekend. ladies this management team believes in treating there staff with the upmost respect . trust me it will not be like working in any of the clubs in manhattan.

Yup, that certainly sounds like a company promo blurb to me ! Like everything else in New York, I'll believe what I can see with my own eyes.

I worked there. From what I see, the club has yet to find a balance of dancers vs. customers. On a busy night there are not enough dancers vs. customers, but the dancers are happy because there is money to be made. But you've lost repeat customers because some guys leave unhappy. Causing frequent slow nights for the dancers, which is why they do not have enough dancers working there. The money is very inconsistent. If/when they get there act together, it would be a great club to work at. BigHost, is right about the management. The staff is the nicest of any club I've ever been to.

Sounds like the old "remarket the club" and sale of business gambit for a failed club.
When a "new" club actually opens somewhere I really take notice. When a club slaps up a new name sign, has new managers, and a new business owner I remain unimpressed.

Sometimes the "remarketing" might involve "real" repairs and rehab of the physical facilities. Usually it is a paint job and a few new lights.

Please let us know if this is actually something new or just a another name change.

I also have absolutely nothing against a member of club management posting here - provided that he has been so identified so that any comments made can be viewed in the proper perspective.

I was planning on coming down there. But the weather is crazy hear. Are they audition now? And do they hire people like myself. That's the problem I have with some upscale clubs in Manhattan.

    Your honesty is appreciated !

To answer your question, I've lived in the NY/NJ area my entire life. I've been dancing for over 10 years. At one time or another I've been in every single club within a 100 mile radius of NYC. Also, after I started featuring, I got the opportunity to travel to clubs in many other states and Canadian provinces. But I never claimed to know about ALL the clubs mentioned on this site. I freely admit that with the exception of LA and SF and Vegas I have spent very little time in other clubs west of Texas.

I've seen many anti-dance club ordinances come into effect and be appealed. I've seen many independently owned club be "taken over" by chain clubs. I've also seen a number of clubs go bankrupt or close permanently for "other reasons". I've seen clubs and dancers be busted. It's amazing how much a girl can pick up about the business if she keeps her eyes open and her mouth shut !

Plus, Melonie is too modest to mention that she has a heart and brain, both with capacities and capabilities bigger than her chest size! She is one of the most intelligent and astute contributors to this board.
