Default If you could do it all over again

When you first started dancing what are the things you wished you would have had/known when you first started out?
Also, how do you keep yourself from being you know bad smelling "down there" when you are on stage and dancing on the floor?
Any makeup tips that make dancing easier for you?
How long should you spend with each customer when they come to the stage during a song?
And any other advice would be greatly appreciated!
    THANKS

Use baby wipes to clean yourself frequently down there. Make-up I suggest the body shop tea tree oil mattifying moisturizer, helps makeup stay on longer without the shine. Gloss, gloss, gloss. thigh highs make dancing easier for me, my knees are so much better. I spend 30 sec. to a almost a minute if its just a doller, only slightly longer if more. Remember to say thanks. as for what I would have done differently, I would have started sooner. Also those little comfort pads that go in your shoes make dancing a lot more bareable.

Hmmm...yeah, everything Fawn said. You can also use FDS (feminie deodorant spray). For make-up, you need to decide which is your best facial feature and then do your make-up accordingly to bring that feature out. If you have killer lips, then use lots of gloss to bring attention to them...if you have great eyes, then go easy on the lips and show off the eyes. As for spending time with the customer while I am on stage...it all depends on how much they tip me...for a dollar, I will just smile, say thanks and move on. If they tip more, I will smile, say thanks...and then maybe give them a kiss on the cheek. You will develop your own style once you are dancing. You need to just do whatever you feel comfortable with. The only thing I would have done differently would have been started earlier.

    Good luck and have fun!!

I would recommed against using feminine deoderant spray, it can screw up the natural harmony of bacteria that is necessary for vaginal health. (Who wants to dance with a yeast infection? Ewww.) I agree with Fawn, use baby wipes when you get sweaty, but generally, as long as you shower every day and are in good health, odor shouldn't be a problem.

Also, I could be wrong, but I believe there's already an "If you could do it all over..." thread on the board, try the search function. Albeit very old, a lot of members have already responded to that one.

Hmmmm............if it smells too offensive, I suggest going to the doctor or clinic. If it gets alittle sweaty baby wipes do it for me. Some times I have to go to war, and do the damn thang with a wash cloth and a bar of dove.

Make up, well I went to MAC, let them try some new things on me, to see want I liked and didn't. I like sephora and bargain brands. I believe it's more about application than price of product. I love eyelashes.

Always keep a smile on your face, even when you are cramping............nobody likes a sour puss.

Don't let any one person take up your time, if they are not breaking bread......

Keep those pads on the bottom of you shoe, I spent a year slippin and sliding.

Invest in good outfits.........it makes a difference.

Always smell good, not that fruitty shit everyone wears, but something lite and sexy........

Be pleasantly aggressive, but don't harrass. Chill at the bar, always make eye contact, then slay em. Make lots of $$$$ mama...........
    Bands will make me dance..........

Yeah, how to dance like a stripper..I totally sucked. I was lucky enough to work in a club w/ kickass dancers. I had it under control within a couple of weeks though. I also wish I would have started dancing sooner too !

I use body spray or FDS..I forgot I also use perfumed body lotion..

I stay as long as they're tipping
But if the stage is crowded, I politely let them know I have to moved on.

As far as make goes I also went ot MAC for a make lesson..They run around $70-95, but you get 20% off their products for 30 days.
If you don't want to spend the money just schedule a makeup application.

Kiss proof lipstick- they didn't make it back when I first started, or at least I didn't know about it!

Change your outfit and t-back a few times a night on top of baby wipes and normal grooming- dancing makes a girl sweat

Dance on stage in front of a new customer ONLY for as long as he is tipping, when he quits tipping say thanks, smile and move on to the next.

The one thing I'd do differnt is not be influenced into doing more contact than I was comfortable. I was young (19/20) and influenced by everyone - other dancers, customers and management as well - and followed the trend of high contact for awhile. I did some things I'd take back if I could now that I know the risks I put on other people working . Ignorance isn't an excuse, but I really believed at the time I was the only I was risking. Life and maturity opened my eyes on that one !!!
So that's my biggest advice for a new dancer -- don't allow other people to encourage you to "follow the crowd"
Just be true to your instincts!

Sorry, but upon seeing the title of this thread I couldn't resist recalling an old Country song :
