Default What would you dancers like to see in an ideal club?

Hi Everyone! I am starting a club in a small area of northwest Missouri where I will no doubt have trouble with a limited pool of available dancers. The building has great visibility from a major freeway and easy access, so attracting customers will hopefully not be a problem. I just want to make sure that things go smoothly with the opening and daily operation.

I have been to several clubs and talked to dancers to ask questions regarding what they pay to the club etc. I would like to know what you envision as the ideal situation.

For example, what amount do you think is fair to pay to the club if you do a lap dance (if any)? I am not interested in taking unfair advantage. (We are all in it to make as much money as possible!)

What kinds of perks would attract you to work for a few weeks in a club in an area away from home?

What rules are typical when you dance in a club? (I want to environment to be a pleasant as possible.)

What expectations are fair as far as the amount of time spent on the stage and the hours spent at the club?

Any other suggestions that you have would be greatly appreciated!

    Best regards,

    Kodakjs

I danced in upscale clubs. Very low contact. Pretty heavy screening of the dancers, a 2 song audition, Area with a fairly high population, (i know that may be hard to do.) A very nice house mom or man, (i had a couple who were very bad, no work on their part.) staff that actually does look out for the dancers well being as well as the customer, i.e. bouncers, managers, owners.

Special nights with NO cover. Audition nights etc. for fun, and to grab new customers.

About money. I have no problem paying a $200 dollar house fee, IF i am in an upscale club that is well maintained.
VIP rooms, NOT $400, but more like $300 for 1 hour. Slightly more contact (what is legal of course.)
Ld's hmm, never really did many in a club, but paid out $10 to the house, ld's cost a customer $20. Fair tip outs to DJ etc. Depends on how the club goes, so i can't talk much of tip outs.

I want to be able to walk out nightly with at least $500 in my hand.

Cameras EVERYPLACE, recorded. Safe parking, music we canbring ourselves to dance to. 2 stages! Beautiful red velvet material! Clean couches, loveseats, tables etc.

I ask too much maybe, and am SURE i forgot alot.

I love a clean busy upscale club with NO EXTRAS. And great management. Dancers that mind their own business, money makers or not, we can be replaced.

OK, for now thats my club!!!!!

hmm nw mo? around what town?

keep in mind not many ppl are willing to spend a whole crap load of money in ks mo areas.. so like between 10-20 to get in *and they must always have a drink infront of them* charge 2-4 dollars a drink. lap dances really depend on the contact.. if its medium contact.. 10-15 dollars a dance.. if its full like boobs n all.. 20 dollars

special nights are a gerat way to attract people.. ladies nights... raffle nights.. game nights..
have low door cover.. like 50% off entry..

ive been working in an upscale club before.. no one likes to goto a club were they get charged out the butt for a vip room.. maybe hve something with like a bed in the back were they can get dances laying down? i heard this one.. youd have to keep a close eye on the girls.

the most id charge for vip would be 20-30 dollars.. im not going to be exactly ahppy about having to drive out in the middle of no where and spend a crap load just to sit in certian area.. *these ppl aer cheap here job market is low*

Advratising is alwys a must! atleast 2 billboards! and dont forget the papers.. maybe even radio? thats were you will get your customers.. trust me i know this!

as for stage dancing.. 2 songs / dancer.

Everytime I go into a club, all I hear from the dancers is that management will not provide them with a life size cardboard cutout of Spiro Agnew. Maybe you could include that in your perfect club.

LOL Let's see. No stage fee's, no percentage of LD's to house. Cheap booze for the customers. No cover. House mom, hairdresser, nail tech ...free. Massages? I like a good foot rub. A clientele exclusively arab shieks and coke dealers. Also I would like to bring my dog. And my cat.

OK seriously. LOL. If you are trying to attract traveling dancers I'd make sure you get listed in Stripclublist with an email. That's what I use to book gigs for myself. Provide cheap or free housing that is safe. I always book my own hotels because I don't like being dependant on the club. It would be nice if a club actually had decent housing arrangements.

A hotel is $150-$250 a week out of my pocket. My deal with the clubs is since I am paying for a hotel, travel expenses to get there and meals I don't want to pay house fees on top of that. I usually get it and if I don't get it I wont work there.

Kodakjs, it's really not possible to discuss what's "fair" in regard to dancer expectations unless you already have some reasonable idea of what the Missouri market will bear, and what competing clubs are structured like in regards to business model. From a realistic standpoint, your club has to earn YOU enough money to cover operating expenses and make the mortgage payment, and the Missouri market and competing clubs' business structures will dictate how much money in total can be expected to walk into the front door of your club in the form of cover charges and drink sales. From that point you can develop a business model in regard to how much additional money you must "extract" from your dancers in order for the club to be marginally profitable. Once you have a feel for how much money the club needs to "extract", you can then face the issue of balancing stage fees charged to dancers, percentages collected from dancers' private dance sales, fixed or percentage charges for champagne room trips etc.

Depending on the Missouri market and the "standard offerings" of competing clubs in your area, it may turn out that once you "extract" enough extra money from your dancers to achieve a marginally profitable club, that there isn't going to be enough earnings potential left over to attract travelling dancers to your club.

How long till ya opening the club? I live in 45 min northwest of des moines area. If its all good I'd come down.
Lets see, what I'd like to see at a club,
    1) A clean stage and dressing room
    2) Houses fees depend on the $$ I'd be making. Depending on what shift and day of the week, $20-40. Some clubs $50 day, covers house fee, bouncer, and DJ.
    3) Staff that will PROTECT the DACNCERS!!!
    4) Have dancers get a license. The local police dept, can do a back ground check and so on.
    5) 2-3 song sets, depending on how many dancers are there.
    6) Cap how many dancers you allow to work each night. A happy # of dancers leads to happy dancers that make $$. To many dancers leads to problems.
    7) Set the rules from the beginning and strick to them. No matter what!! Have 2-3 days a month set aside for an orientaion to the club for new dancers. Then everyone is on the same note.
Privates $20-30. VIP set charge to get in there, then dancer charge whatever per song, hour, etc.
    9) !!! Take credit cards!!!!! A big plus for business men and so on. ATM machine as well.

Theres tons more i can think of. Most of what other girls said.
It really depends on the size of the club and type. Are you gonna have it like Daisy Dooks in Davenport, IA or like Big Als in Perioa, IL or like Beach Girls in Des Moines, IA
Private message me with more info on the club, I'm interested.

I wish my club had good sized poles for tricks. maybe one big one for the dancers who are tired of tricks so they are not expected to do them. Clean showers. No splinters on stage. Don't crowed the tables together, Its hard to dance when your worried about bumping into another table.

I think anything over a flat house fee is unfair. In a small club that fee should be no more than $25 imho. Clubs should be making their money off the customers, NOT the dancers.

Do some research on what other clubs of your caliber are charging in the area and make your prices slightly more appealing, unless your place is going to be extremely high class. Most clubs probably fall into the atmosphere of average. Outside appearance is also a plus. I work in NY and all the clubs around here look like mobile homes. Try to make the outsie look more like that of an upscale restaurant. Some clubs offer sliding scale tip outs to the house. Example: Sun, Mon, and Tues: $50 tip out (some clubs are as low as 25-30), Wed-Sat:$75. What you charge as a house fee also depends on what type of dances you are going to do out there. Are they table dances, air dances, or bump and grind lap dances?

Thank you so much for all of your input. It helps a lot as I begin to decide how the club will run.

I agree that the tip out should be reasonable. I was thinking $20 s-w and $25 thursday-saturday.

It is not a large place, but it tastefully decorated and not a hole in the wall. I really appreciate your advice.

    Best regards to all!

$20-25 sounds like a lot for a rural club....how about charging no house fee. A lot of the smaller clubs do this this and get their money elsewhere. This will help you attract dancers.

I work in clubs in the Upper Midwest on weekly bookings. I go to North and South Dakota, Montana, have worked in Wisconsin and Iowa as well in the small town clubs.

You say you are off the highway. Do you plan on putting up a PROFFESIONALLY done LIGHTED billboard in each direction of the interstate with a perfect 10 models face on it directing travelers to you club? Many small town clubs are too low key and fail to realize that 40% of their business will come from guys traveling and these guys have more money to spend.

Most smaller town venues pay road girls $300-$400 a week to work M-S 5 until 1 or 2. They work 4-6 girls a night and the larger ones work 10-14. Dances range from $15-$20 and the club keeps $5, which obviously goes towards the dancer pay.

A DJ is imperative, as well as a merchant account where the guys can run a tab and pay for dances on the tab.

How large of a town are you in? 20,000, 30,000 or maybe only a few thousand people? How many people live within a 50 mile radius of your club? How far is the competition from you?

You have to make money and to attract pretty dancers they do too.

That advertising is KEY. If you can bring in 50-60 guys a night and 80-100 on weekends and get them "trained" to buy dances, you may be ok. How much contact is allowed where you will be? Air dances in a rural club will hurt your business, but having too much contact and overly grabby guys will scare off the better looking girls that you need to have decent volume.

As far as house fees go, small town Midwestern clubs don't operate like big city ones. In SD, at CockaToo and Southfork, dances are $15, $5 to the house and the DJ at Southfork gets $10, and the doorguy $10. No housefee. CockaToo has no DJ and pay is only $300 vs $400 at Southfork but once you've sold 60 dances at CockaToo you keep all your dance money. Southfork gives a dance bonus. 80 dances for the week is $40 ,100 is $50, 60 dances is 30, 40 is $20. No house fees at either club.

Most smaller clubs just have tipout to the DJ and bouncers or bar. In Montana (Billings) the house fees are $25-$30 a night at one club and $30-$40 in another, but that of course goes towards the $400 club pay road dancers get.

If you are going to take money from the dances then a flat house fee probably isn't a good idea. But with only 4-6 girls charging a competitve house fee of $20 with no dance revenue probably won't be enough income for you. And without road dancer pay you will have a problem attracting dancers or any caliber.

Again heavy advertising is important (Classy Billboards) etc. If you can generate enough business and guys that will buy dances to where girls can make $1500-$2000 a week in your club including club pay plus a liveable profit for you, you will have a good chance at success.

Also making sure your girls are classy dressers, have they nails done, toenails painted, hair styled makeup done nicely, and have nice well kept matching costumes on. Plus no girls dancing in Payless heels or barefoot, requiring dancers to wear at least 5 inch dancer heels which are in good condition and matching their outfits and NO Crown Royal bags on the floor. They must carry a small purse. The girls need to be sophisticated.
