    Default House dancing in Montana?

I'm thinking of moving to Montana when I'm ready to start my dancing career, as what I've heard about the current situation for under-21 dancers here in Oregon doesn't look so good. (No stage tipping, all money coming from table dances which are only $10 each, younger clientele that doesn't buy many dances, etc.) I'd like to work in a club that has good stage tipping, laid back environment, low pressure hustling, and the standard $20 table dance, and it sounds like many Montana clubs fit my needs, as well as being not too far from Oregon/Washington, where all my friends and family live.

So, my question. I've read a lot from the traveling dancers about working bookings in Montana, but nothing about working as a house dancer. Do Montana clubs exclusively work bookings? Do they hire any house dancers? If I choose to go for Montana, will I have to be constantly flitting around from one club to another?

Yes, you can be a house dancer in Montana. However, you may want to just work bookings for a while before you decide to commit to one club.

Most of the clubs are the same as far as rules go. The most upscale club in the state is Moulin Rouge. The rest are about average or blue collar type of bars. Most of the clubs run less than 6 dancers per shift. The exception is Teaser's in Three Forks. They have between 20-40 dancers per shift, but they really don't have the clientele or the room for so many girls. It has been a year since I worked at Teaser's so maybe they have reduced the number of dancers there. Teaser's only seats 80-90 customers when at capacity, so unless you are very beautiful, high contact, or just very pushy, you won't make much. They also have the highest fees in the state.

I didn't like Teaser's, but maybe you will. Heck, if you don't like it you could always go somewhere else. If you move to either Missoula, Billings or Bozeman you will have more than one club to work at. Most of the dancers in the state live in these cities. I haven't ever heard anything nice about the club in Great Falls. But again, try it and see if you like it. I have never danced there because I don't like that city, but there is a big milatary base in Great Falls, and the money might be awesome.

If you have specific questions feel free to PM me as I have danced in Montana since 1998. I also live in Oregon, and I know how tough it can be to make a living here.

I liked Great Falls- lots of stage tips, low competition. Only one dance booth, you have to line up at the end of the night to use it. Still, can count on a respectable amount (300-ish) a night if you work (or, you could a year ago). Long shift though, with few customers until the last 4 hours (of eight).

The town is nice except for that stretch of 10th ave that the club is on.
