Default Do you set a quota for yourself ?

When I go to work I usually set a quota for myself.
I was wondering how many of my fellow dancers do the same. If you don't make the daily or weekly amount you set for yourself, do you work more days/hours ?

Thanks in advance for your replies

I set a weekly goal and yes, I will work an extra shift if I need to. You never know which night is going to be really good or especially sucky, but usually the whole week will balance out.

I decided a while ago that i will do this when i start dancing...

I think a weekly quota is a good idea, if don't meet the quota i will work extra shifts....

Good I am glad to hear my fellow dancers set quotas for themselves too. Sometimes I stick to my goals so hard that I feel obsessive about my how much I make. I try to make as much as I can when and while I can

Every night when I get home I update my ledger with my gross total earnings, what I actually took home, any tax-worthy receipts and the number of dances I gave. Every week I add the tally and enter it to the right of the weekly column, as well as figuring my hourly average (gross and net). At the end of the month, I average the entire month (so I know that I grossed $377 average each night, for example), in addition to averaging each individual night (so I know that Mondays averaged $334 take-home pay, for example).

Now that y'all are filled in, I use those averages to estimate how much I should be able to pull in each night before work. I set a goal based on that estimated figure, and a weekly goal as well.

I try for $2000 a week. My week starts on Tuesday and let myself have the rest of the days off if I make it. I usually make it, but last week I didn't, so I worked every day that week. I consider days off to be a reward.

Wow, I dont know where you guys are working or how many hours, but I must be doing something wrong here. 2000 a week and 25 dances a night? What clubs are you guys working at? I work in Massachusetts and this month has been the WORST. We're lucky if we get 5-10 dances a night and make a grand a week. 150-200 has become the norm this month, but there was a saturday night (and last thursday too) where many of us walked out with 75 bucks. I'm actually behind on my bills now. It's just so difficult to motivate yourself to go to work and get naked and deal with assholes and make shit. A couple 100/150 nights I can deal with. Ever night this month, I just cant.

Kayla, high tax northeast states are notorious for slow Januaries and Februaries. Part of this stems from the "annual maximum tax limits", where high earning guys will exceed the maximum annual tax withholding for Social Security and/or certain state taxes sometime in the fall, and then receive a paycheck with an extra $100 or $200 in it until the end of the year. But with the start of the new year, those taxes start over again and their paychecks drop by $100 or $200. On top of this you've got excruciatingly high heating bills from all of the below zero temperatures increasing everybody's household expenses.

Once tax return checks start being issued in March, things should start to take a turn for the better. However, many states have actually increased their income tax, property tax, and sales tax rates since the first of January as a result of state budget deficits, which may serve to keep club customers nervous about spending too much money on "luxuries" like private dances.

I was wondering about 25 dances a night too....that seemed like a lot, but I guess it they are $10, then I can see that.

But I don't think $2000 a week is unreasonable if you work 7 nights a week. We all have our $100 nights. I do too. I have weeks where I don't make $2000. But in those which I do, I feel I met quota. If I do it with 1 or 2 days left in the week, I'll take those days off. If I don't, I'll go in on my nights that I scheduled off.

And yes, this month is bad for me, but I've been managing quota, but hardly any nights off! I've had two this entire month, and I don't plan any more until February.

    Kayla,
I have attached a link for you to check out. Its regarding a club in MA

    http://exoticdancerforums.com/showthread.php?t=861

Things are slow everywhere right now. But 25 dances (at least) are the norm for me. It really differs from every girl, club and city. I currently dance in Houston and in S.F.
The money is okay right now but, you never know when its going to change. I take dancing very seriously and am always careful to put away money for a rainy day.
When I first started dancing I got myself into a situation like the one you're currently in. I got real overwhelmed and instead of going to work more I was actually going less.
One of my dancer friends helped me by loaning me the money( I didn't even have to ask she just left it at my house one day )
Her kindness gave me the motivation to get back on my feet. I haven't looked back since..Don't worry about the hard times right now..Just keep going to work and try some other clubs in your area too.

    Congrats on your big night.
    Please try taking Gluclosomean (ms)
I have put so much stress on my knees from dancing, having a shoe fetish..lol and excercising, that I have developed arthritis in both of my
knees. I don't want that to happen to you because, its extremely painful. I refuse to quit dancing and my life style so my Dr. suggested
Gluclosomean (ms) and it has helped a great deal.

    ARredhead,
you made a great point. We as dancers should never get so obsessed w/ our quotas that we are willing to do "extras" to meet it.

    You're welcome
You will have to take a lot (5-6 servings a day or 5-6 capsules/tablets) in the begining to get it into your system.
After your knees stop bothering you, then you can cut back to the normal dose.

I went to see my "Master"(my yoga teacher) today for my knee problems he also agreed with Gluclosomine supplements and he also suggested doing a lot stretches. Oh,yeah and try yoga and walking in the water to build up the muscle.
    Bye for now..

I think quotas are a bad idea because I see most girls quitting after making their quotas, when they could be making more money. Why limit yourself? If you plan to work 4 nights per week and hit your weekly goal in two, why not go ahead and work the other two nights and bank the extra?

I have a nightly/weekly goal, but don't stop when I hit it. For example, if I have a goal of $300 profit for a Wednesday night, and I make it at midnight and the club closes at 1am, I keep right on hustling just as hard during the last hour. If I make my weekly goal, I damn sure don't just take the rest of the week off, I keep working! The extra money in my pocket is my reward, and it balances the crappy weeks when I make less. This way I have a very steady monthly income, which always meets my monthly goal, and sometimes exceeds it. I'm after as much savings as possible!

Emily-- I really admire that kind of work ethic....unfortunately I don't have it, LOL. I find that if I work more than 5 days a week I get burned out.

So, I generally don't set a quota. I just work a consistent 4-5 nights a week and hope for the best. My income is fairly even from week to week though. Like Lilith, I know what money is to be expected on certain days of the week and plan my schedule accordingly.

When i was still dancing i set a nightly quota, the same every night, then i would allow myself to enjoy the rest of the night and not stress myself out. when i go back into it this time; i feel that this is a form of self expression. if i put to much emphasis on the monetary aspect of it i will be taking the enjoyment out of it for myself; therefore lowering my earning potential. these are my feelings based on my experience.
