Okay, Im about a month away from auditioning at a nude club in my hometown. Im looking for all of the advice I can get from the girls who have been dancing for a while, (you know the advice you wish someone had passed on to you). I have been all over this board searching and some have been helpful, but not very descriptive in others. So, other than the stuff that I will have to learn OTJ, what do you ladies have to offer.
To get the ball rolling here are some things I have questions about: heels (all of the stores around here only sell 6 inch heels, outfits, hair updo's that are still sexy, make-up tips (for a black feamle), stage names, razor bumps, and begining moves for newbies

Hello here is some advise on heels start out in what you fell comfy in when i started i used a 4 inch heel and everyone told me the 6 inch chunky heel with a 2 inch platform would be much easier to dance in and not hurt my feet so much i did not believe them until i tryed it out myself and it was much easier i thought i was going to fall on my ass but i did not so keep that in mind.Outfits my first "stripper outfit was a school girl and that went over great also some bikini tops and lots of thongs. it all depends on what you feel comftable in. As for hair how long is it and do they want hair to be up because guys prefer long hair worn down. The last bit of advise i have is on moves just practice in front of a miror to differant songs as far as the pole a simple one to dois leaning up agianst it with your back hands up behind your head grasping it and move up and down then turn around ass facing custermers and do the same thing i have not mastered the pole yet but that and also simply spinning around it is easy new moves. Hope this helps and best of luck to you

You can try the internet for shoes, although you should try them on before you try to work in them--don't just try them on, though, wear them around your house, get comfortable walking in them, try dancing in them. My shoes are "Ellie" brand, five inches with an inch platform, the heel is sort of thick but widens at the bottom. There is a cushion inside the shoe itself which is a GODSEND when I have to be on my feet for hours at a stretch. Make sure the bottom of your shoe isn't slippery--scuff it up on the pavement or use a sticky friction pad--some dancer-goods stores sell them, and you could probably find those online, too.

    Good luck!

The first movie I rented was Dancing at The Blue Iguana...big mistake....no plot, no moves, stereotypical society's idea of dancers. Luckliy Striptease was alot better. I love this movie.

Anywho, thanks for the advice everyone, keep it coming.

As far as razor bumps, I will say it a million times - the only thing that permanently helped me was getting an electric razor. Invest in a good one and you won't be sorry.

Make-up: depends on what style you are going for. If you are going for that innocent school-girl look...then you need to go with an innocent make-up look. If you are going to wear something hot, see-through, and very "naughty" then your make-up should match that look too. I will usually start out with more "innocent" make-up on and then just add to it throughout the night (more bold colors on the eyes)...something that is easy to 'spice' up without spending and hour in the dressing room. But, experiment and see what looks good on you.

We have weekly amateur contests and at least twice a month one of the contestants asks me to teach a quick pole trick or two, which I happily oblige.
Then, as I watch them onstage, I realize that, yes, they learned the pole tricks, its just too bad that they cant walk in their shoes without looking like an idiot!

the internet is a good place to find shoes. ebay useually has some, somtimes at REALLY good prices.

I like the 4" heels. some guys find platforms to look like bride of frankinstine shoes, some guys like them. Some clubs require platforms, some dont allow them. if given the choice i will take 4-4.5". also get halter pads for them, it helps a lot. you can useually buy basic ones for $1. dr scholls also makes a gel version thats much better but also more expensive.

for the hair. i agree with mia. guys like long hair down. if you just want it out of your face use clips or a half ponytail or something. that also works well with the innocent schoolgirl look.

outfits: ebay, jenniferjoy.com there might be a store especilly for dancers in your area. they might also have a costume lady come by the club on a certain night. thats always nice, but easier to spend

shaving: shave in the shower or bath. with warm water. that helps soften the hair and open the pores. deoderant, especilly arasol (sp?) helps with razor bumps. bad for the ozone, good for razor burn. also dont shave right before work. make sure you have a few hours for it to go down. also make sure to exfoliate well so that you dont get ingrown hairs. that looks much worse then razor burn.

Some guys (particularly the older ones) LOVE newbies. Even if you've been dancing a year, tell 'em you just got started!

here's a piece of advice just stripper to stripper, not having to do with clothes:
boyfriends can be the biggest blessing in terms of supporting you, but they can also be your worst nightmare. If you don't have one right now, I'd wait a few months into the job and wait to hear the horror stories, and then piece it together for yourself.
How you date is also going to change, and that's why time in the job will help you nail your boundaries (some dancers accept so much crap from their BFs that they wouldn't from their highest paying customer)-- are you going to tell someone your job right off the bat, or not?
Anyways- as with most important things to learn is hang back for a little bit to see what's going on, listen to what other dancers are saying, and then decide for yourself what you want out of a BF or lover as a dancer.

Gosh theres only so much I can write.
*I learned the hard way....do not sit with a customer longer than 2-3 songs unless he is compensating for your time.
*Have someone at a makeup counter show you some nice easy makeup basics or you can take some time to vamp yourself up at home and just see what works.
*When I just got my 1st dancing job that same night I just watched the girls for about almost an hour to see what they do on stage. A few girls were nice to me too. I watched others do LD's but didnt look too hard.
*No need to make friends with everyone just be curtious.
*Be excited and smile every where you are! Someone is looking at you hopefully they want to give you money too
*Be alert at all times this will help in many ways.
Thats all I can think of for now...
Good Luck and make alotta cash!
you live like an ivy vine
you can only survive by clinging onto trees
    that's your flaw
put down some roots so you can stand on your own

Know your personal touch boundaries and STICK TO THEM, no matter what anybody tries to tell you. Don't do anything in the club that you wourld rather not remember the next morning and be EXTEREMELY careful about how much you drink.

As for shoes, I jsut got a pair of Pleaser 6" cone heels from www.snazz75.com. THe cones are MUCH easier to walk in than the stillettos. I would go with those.

If your shoes slip on the dance floor or stage, stick some duct tape on the bottoms of them. It is cheap and easy to replace. I carry a roll in my bag! (you can color it with a marker if you don't want it to stand out! )

Guys will ask you out all day long - I made the mistake of leading a couple into thinking someday I'll go out with them, I even gave a couple my cell number. I wish when I started I wouldn't made a strick policy to tell customers - that I don't date. That gets annoying.

I also totally agree with the 6 inch heels with the 2 inch platform - perfect for my feet. Try www.snaz75.com for shoes, www.stripperzone.com for clothes and thongs, and www.ebay.com for deals. Start with simple things that are easy to remove gracefully, then when you are comfortable you can move on - Oh, I recomend thongs that clip together or tye, it might be easy to start with those. They are so easy to pop off.

Look customers in the eyes, smile, move slowly - learn from other dancers. Go to some clubs before you start, and go home right afterwards and practice.

Don't get drunk. Have fun. Be sexy!

Oh, I forgot - body makeup helps a lot, if I get bumps from shaving too much, I'll use a little concealor and powder it - it also is good for bruises, which I got when I first started.

I believe the most important part of this job is getting the right shoes, because you're a dancer, and if you're wearing something uncomfortable or something that you cannot keep your balance in,you will look awkward on stage and you won't be able to give a good show. The best thing to do is to get platform shoes, with wide chunky heels,at least for the first couple of months untill you get used to the stage.Although some clubs do not allow platforms, you have to check. Costumes, you can even ask other girls if they are selling them,or you should have a costume lady in the club.Make up,don't over do it,keep it fresh, put some high gloss on your lips.Hair, that's more important,it has to look healthy and taken care of,whether long or short.Wear some rhinestone jewelry, that always stands out.
Be friendly to everybody, always be in a good mood.
    And,I agree....do tell them you're new,they love it!
