    Default Any knitters here?

So I've been bringing my knitting into work to have something to do when it's slow (fortunately I haven't actually worked on it for a while in there). The girls are always really curious and interested. i figure I can't be the only knitting stripper there is and was wondering if any of the rest of you are knitters. I'm working on designing a knit thong bikini right now.

i bet that outfit will look very unique when you're done with it . i wanted to learn to knit when i was younger, and had lessons briefly from my ex-step-grandmother. but then she went insane, packed up and moved away....*sigh*.... is knitting the same as crocheting (sp?).

it sounds like a wonderfully zen activity. the ancient celts would sometimes tie knots and focus energy while doing it. plus keeps you occupied if a slow night.

are there any books or websites that you recommend where one could begin learning how to knit?

    have fun with your projects

Wow, is this for real? I am a knitter, I LOVE it! I must admit, it doesn't necessarily mean you'll save a fortune on outfits because the material and time spent can be expensive but it does guarantee uniqueness in appearance. I also love it when people come up to me out of the blue and are like "Hey, you can knit? That's cool!". He he, I like to keep my talents overflowing!

Bloodydewdrop, the book I used when I started knitting (I am self taught and this book was really great with clear instructions) is called Woolcraft and it has instructions on how to learn knitting and crochet from first steps to finishing touches. I also recommend if you start to get 4mm needles to begin with and a size 7 crochet hook if you want to crochet. It really is a good skill to have!

I halfway know how to crochet. I can make blankets and rugs. I wish I had time to actually do it...

I knit! Though I really don't do any projects yet, mostly just scarves or "long piece of knit" until I get bored or something. I can't do much beyond "knit-perl." Hee, it's fun though.

    I can crochet too.

Yay! I was hoping there were some more stripper knitters!

For anyone learning, I really recommend getting The Big Book of Knitting - it explains techniques wonderfully. Hip to Knit is good because it has lots of cool, easy projects in it.

I hope to unveil a thong soon.

    Hiya Hon...

I don't knit, but let me tell ya, I CAN crochet.. lol.. I was taught when I was around 5, by my grandmother (We Sicilians are taught EVERYTHING while we're still toddlers basically.. lol). When I got pregnant with my 8 month old girl, I quit smoking. Needing something to keep busy, I just crochetted the months away. She now has blankets and outfits in EVERY color imaginable.. lol.. It's a great passtime.

I LOVE the idea of a knitted outfit. If it turns out good, you can always make extras to sell. Very unique idea.
