    Default again with poles

Ok, so I can now climb up the pole, flip my legs up and slide down upside down, but I just can't seem to spin. How on erath do you ladies do this? Any other cool pole trick's? Lets please just stick with this we site, my computer does the reload thing every time I switch to a new one, and it takes 5 min. Any one know how to fix that as well?

    Thanks,
    Fawn

It's something to do with connectivity. I do this all day long, and i have to admit that SW's problem has me stumped. I think it's a worm. It's not your computer.

Is it a stationary or spinning pole? That's good that you can climb the pole. That means you can remain on the pole a longer duration and get in more tricks. Get Fawnia's tape on pole dancing . It's good for a start or get Shiela Kelley's book "The S-Factor" .
I'm having trouble with this site as well. Do you have this trouble at other websites?

    as for the spinning question:

you really need to visualize how you would spin around. it helps, really. to do the 'fireman' as in fawnia's video, is fairly simple, although you can still bang your shins if you're not careful. walk around the pole, holding with your strongest arm. now, if you're walking clockwise with your right hand on the pole.... when you step with your right leg, almost lunge, i mean bend your knee a little and swing out your left leg. then grab with your left hand also, and wrap both legs around the pole.... first your left and right will follow. hold on tight. you'll spin around the pole. the easier it becomes, the faster you can spin and it will become more fluid. you can also do this move one-handed as you get stronger.

once you master that one, other spins will be easier to learn. for example, holding on with one arm, upside down spins, etc. the videos will help also. but hopefully this helps a little to start.

honestly, climbing is much harder than this.

It's pretty hard to spin if you're already up on the pole...most spinning moves use momentum from pushing up off the ground, even the upside down ones. All your momentum will come from how hard and far out you kick your legs off the ground, and will continue based on how you hold your weight on the pole.

If you climb the pole, 'sit', then lay back and come down upside down, I think you'd have to be pretty damn coordinated to get any spin on a stationary pole!

The pole is not the kind that spins. It is also located at on the corner of the very small third stage. I cannot walk around it,because there is only room on one side of it, then the stage ends. I had to move a table out of the way to even begin to try tricks on it. This is the only good sized pole we have, but I really want to learn tricks. Climbing up is no problem, I was always the first to the top of the rope in gym class growing up. I think that helped me to know how to cross my legs the right way to hold on. I just wish I could learn how to spin. I really lack patience, so this is torture.

You can learn on street signs or playground poles...there should be enough clearance to get some good spin. And yes, the s-factor book is really good. Nothing beats having someone teach you in person though- is there a girl at work who is nice and who's moves you admire who might walk you through it?

I have the s-factor, its awesome, as a former pole dancer (and I have not been back on the pole for six years) I forgot alot of things, plus lost a lot of my upper body strength.. I had NO book when I learned all my tricks the first time, this book is awesome! Stationary poles are harder, (I have worked on both) and believe it or not, I prefer the stationary pole to the spinning pole. The spinning ones do a lot of the work for you, its much better to do the work yourself. Once up on the pole, it is hard to spin, but, there are many things you can do to do to get a nice effect....

    Try a couple of these:

You mentioned hanging upside down... wear a one piece dress and take it off while you are sliding down the pole.... guys love it!

slide down slowly using your thighs, a few inches before you reach the bottom, take your legs and put them into a V formation and put your hands between your legs holding the pole, then continue to slide slowly and then when you get to the bottom, dismount by doing a back summersault....

Until you learn some more tricks its hard to do much once you get up there.. but good job on learning new things.... you'll learn it all in no time and get the S factor! The DVD is even better.

Fawn, if you mean how do you develop a spin and you are already are at the top of the pole( and it isn't a spinning pole) and you have no residual spin since you've reached the top, PM me and I will tell you one method I've developed to spin down a stationary pole starting from no torque at all.

I wish I could practice on street signs and playgrounds. I live in a bad neighborhood, and If any one has been to Austin and seen the Rundberg area, you know what I mean. A neighbor sent out a flyer not so long ago with internet info saying the Rundberg area had the highest amount of registered sex offenders in Austin. I've been followed home in broad daylight, a homeless man raped my friend down the street,I take no chances.
