LOL actually, I think the pepper spray/switchblade gifts are very sweet. I love when our customers look out for us.
I've actually received TONS of gifts along those same lines. At one of the clubs that I danced at in Virginia, I was unfortunately mugged while going into my club through the back entrance. He didn't have a gun, but he had a club-type thing that he held over my head until I gave him my purse. Needless to say, I was a total mess. I ran into the club, and let me tell you.. There wasn't ONE customer, or ONE employee (with the exception of the other dancers, for security reasons), that didn't get up and run after this guy. There were guys on their bikes, on foot, in cars, etc.. LOL.. It was great. Unfortunately, they didn't catch him. The police did later that night, when he knocked over a convenience store that was nearby. But, they did manage to bring me some of the contents from my purse that was left in a trail.. lol..
The guys there that night were awesome. One regular handed me $500, and told me to use it to replace whatever was in my purse, and whatever else I needed. I also had customers ask me what types of makeup, perfume, etc.. that I used, and they went out and got it for me. But, I did get TONS of pepper spray, and a razor-type knife that was disguised as a lipstick tube. When you open it up, and twist it like you would lipstick, the razor slides up. I still have it to this day.. lol.. I made plenty of jokes about it. Like.. "What am I supposed to do if a guy tries anything? Tell him, oh, hang on, I must reapply my lipstick?!?" lol.. classic stuff, I tell ya.
But the junkies that hung out there that night, made me proud. They gave me the strangest/nicest gifts possible.
Oh, as for the guy that mugged me, he supposedly got 160 years (yeah right, I bet he served 2, if that). I still have my paperwork to this day, just as a reminder, that safety is very important, no matter what.
