Default Sex Slavery even in the U.S

Here is a link to some information about sex slavery worldwide including in the US.
http://www.polarisproject.org/polari.../Brandeis1.htm Please note the following ,which is taken from the link above.

You might assume that these types of stories relate to incidents taking place in Thailand, or in Cambodia. In fact, they took place in the United States. These were testimonies given before the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Both Rosa and Maria were trafficked from Mexico to Texas and on to Florida

If anyone would like info on how to help end this violation of human rights feel free to PM me and I will be happy to direct you to some organizations that you can donate time or resources.

JLJ, I have no doubts such deplorable conduct exists and, personally, I suspect the 50,000 estimate is more likely to be low than high.

How can such conditions exist? Because both sides of "the arrangement" are engaging in illegal conduct. The females treated so deplorably are here illegally and are threatened with being exposed if they complain. It is a lose-lose proposition since to make one bad conduct "legal" allows/invites more bad conduct involving a substantially larger number of people. One way to combat this is verifying the immigration status of persons working, but to do that would require verifying the status of millions of others and be polititically "incorrect" hassling.

The very complex issue is compounded by failing to see the relationship of one problem and another. Many of the foes of this situation also oppose globalization of trade. (I am not presuming to speak for JLJ) For the connections of these 2 issues, I would refer you to Nicholas Kristoff's excellent series on SE Asia sex trafficing in the New York Times. (requires registration to read online)

In particular I would point out the fact that the $30 a week jobs at NIKE keep millions of women out of the sex trade by providing a legal way to make a living.
