Default Mardi Gras (for traveling dancers)

    Hey guys...

I know not everyone has the ability to travel , but for those of you who do, i HIGHLY recommend getting to New Orleans as fast as possible! I'm a very new dancer (about 3 months) and even I have been making 1000+ every night since the beginning of Mardi Gras...which was last Tuesday. This might be a little late (especially to get housing) but Mardi Gras doesn't end until Wednesday of next week. The more experienced girls at my club have been making 2K+ ng: (no exaggeration, i've seen it with my own eyes ) and that's just from club calculations of dances, not including tips, etc. Every girl has been making above 900 per night...i don't know whether it's the alcohol or the party atmosphere , or the HUGE amount of people , i have never seen customers so willing to part with their money. They just don't seem to say no to dances ! If you have the means to get down to New Orleans, COME! It's great!

Yes, it is already well into Mardi Gras, but all clubs are still hiring, they want as many girls as possible, and believe me there is enough $$$$$ to go around. Many of the nicer clubs also have places for you to sleep , as possibilty of getting a hotel is virtually nonexistent right now.

Last year I was part of the promo team. Once out on the balcony, men would pelt us with beads, and I got hit! I was holding a cup of champagne (no glassware on the balcony!) and it flew up into my face. I was NOT happy.

I'm agreeing with Miss George in that Mardi Gras isn't quite as good as expected, $$$$ wise. I'm not sure where you're working Aphrodite, but the money wasn't quite that good.

Miss George, i agree completely, the hassle in getting to work makes it almost not worth it. It took me over 2 hours to get a cab, get down to Bourbon St, and fight my way through the drunken crowd (mob)...inside it wasn't bad though...you're right about the inavailability of housing, that's why i said in my post that some (many) clubs have places you can sleep. I work at several places but last night i was at Scarlett's Cabaret.

i am definitely working Jazz Fest, Apr 22-Mar 4, it's supposed to be a great season from what I've heard, listed on the convention schedule as 80,000+ attendees. If anyone's coming down, definitely PM me, I have room here where at least two people could stay (but it's full right now, overflowing actually!)

As for laws, they are somewhat strict, but it really depends on the club. For example there's a pedestal law, if topless or in gstring you have to be on a stool 2 feet off the ground; in the guy's lap you have to have top & bottom on, by bottoms i mean gstring AND panties/skirt/whatever. Very strict in VIP as well, that's a good thing bc New Orleans is a wild place! However, i know of several clubs in the area that encourage all levels of prostitution, but that's also good because the "cleaner" dancers (sorry, don't mean to offend anyone) can't make money at those places, so there are basically clean clubs w/ all the non-extras girls together, and more liberal clubs where extras girls will be together.

I wish I had this photo in digital format right now...but it is a photo of me with a couple of Bourbon Street cops during Mardi Gras...I had one one each arm...one female (kinda a butch looking girl) and one male...at llike 3am...each had a plastic cup full of beer in their hands while in uniform ON THE JOB...and I was high as a kite as I was on vacation. You can see the Bourbon street sign behind us. They were happy as pie. Partying like the rest of us. New Orleans cops are a different breed...New Orleans plays by different rules much the same as Houston!

I am in Vegas for now but if I could go I would be in NOLA. If you can get a place to stay off Bourbon Street it's worth the trip there.

I agree with Miss George. I worked in New Orleans a couple years ago, and all the customers were cheap, drunken frat boys. I left after a couple days.

I worked jazz fest in 2002,I stayed 5 days, worked at ricks ,the gold club and larry flints.Iam use to ultra upscale clubs, with earning potential of 1-2000 a night,I have worked all over the U.S. at the best upscale clubs, new orleans was by far the worst city I have ever worked in,the customers are not white collar, most are 21 -35 year old drunk young guys who dont spend and this was during jazz fest not marti graw which I have heard is far worse.I f you would like to go to a place with a similar atmosphere but more money, myrtle bch is much better, its along the lines of new orleans, club wise and the avarage attractivenss of dancers, but better clentele and more money. My average in myrtle beach was 900-1000,compared to 700-800 in new orleans.

I thought you changed your handle! I didn't even think to look at the numbers.

That is weird. It reminds me of the time someone used my picture in a personal ad. A friend of mine saw it and asked me when I moved to Tennessee and I was like, "huh?" I guess I was flattered....you should be too. Nice boobs!

Maybe she felt it was generic, since there is no face in the picture.

So sorry to make this thread off topic this is my last post re: this

Yes, I did pm her yesterday. I'm aware we can all use anybody's avatar; I never would use anybody else's personal avatar though. I know there was no harm meant by it. It is rather disconcerting though to see a post by somebody else with my boobs in the avi, not to mention some people will automatically assume it's me.

I'm sure it's the yellow. Gotta be the yellow. It just screams Look at me!!!!

I think the community avatar thing is bizarre. I wish there was a way we could remove our avatars from that list after we are done using them. Maybe a topic for Site Issues?

Sooooo, back to Mardi Gras. I'm leaving NOLA tomorrow after having been here for a week.

The first post was (really) an exagerration. I work at the Gold Club (very nice club on Iberville, right off Bourbon) and here's how my days there broke down (after all tips and fees were paid)...

    Thurs. $180

Fri. $1600 (yes, sixteen-hundred; that is NOT a typo)

    Sat. $45 (that's not a typo either)

Sun. Off to watch SATC finale and baaaad period

Mon. $1380 (again, not a typo and nearly all from a VIP w/ one guy)

Mardi Gras Off and vegged in my friend's place

As for the comment of "plenty of money to go around", I'm not too sure about that. I had two awesome nights, but most girls were bitching non-stop about not making anything and on Monday about 6 girls had IOU's. It wasn't much better at Rick's.

Also, lodging is booked a year in advance often and what you can find closer to the date is overpriced.

Getting to the Quarter is a nightmare. If you work on Bourbon, it's awful getting to the club.

Bottom line, weigh the pros and cons. Either cram a bunch of girls into a room or stay with a friend. Expect to make some money, but not a windfall. There will be some quality customers, but most will be drunk obnoxious frat boys who are astonished they can't get a BJ with their $20 table dance.

    Proceed at your own risk.

Everyone that is interested in working during Jazz Fest,DON'T DO IT!I'm a local cajun gal and have been in the business 9 years. It is a family type festival,so needless to say, they won't be strip club patrons.Besides,it's costs a lot of money to attend this festival so the're won't be any leftovers for us.The Jazz Fest and Essance Festival are the absolute worst time to work. You'll average,$200/night at best.So come on down for Mardi Gras and conventions with 40,000 or more attendees.TRUST ME!

NinaDaisy, i understand that not EVERYONE will make that amount, but my post was (really) not an exaggeration, not for me at least. I can honestly say, every night i worked over the 2 weeks leading up to mardi gras, i made over 800, and up to my best night being 1800, my very worst night was 800...i posted what i did to try to help people and tell them there was easy money available...what reason would i have to lie/exaggerate about that? i can post my check out slips proving these numbers if you'd like

true though, getting to bourbon was a royal pain in the ass, and ive heard mixed things about jazzfest, some girls say they make bank, some say they make nothing--but, business has declined considerably since all the tourists left town

Your best bet is one of the hustlers or ricks. Penthouse girls usually take mardi gras off. There's enough traveling dancers to fill the club and the money is hot or cold.
