    Default Stripping in Las Vegas

Me and a couple of girls from my club will be going to Vegas the end of March. I'm very excited about this, but also kind of nervous because I don't know what to expect. I've only been dancing about 5 months and I've never danced in Vegas before. However, I'm not the type to turn away a lucrative opportunity when I see one. Anyway, I'm hoping to get a little advice on what I can do to make my experience go as smooth as possible. If anyone knows which clubs are best (or which ones to absolutly stay away from) please let me know? Also, what are the general rules down there or the general attitude of the clubs (I work in Chicago)? How long and difficult is it to get a sherriff's card? How difficult is it to break into working at a club down there if you have no prior connections, or will they simply hire a good looking woman with some experience? Any advice you could give me on working there will be greatly appreciated. I will only be there for a week as a trial run and I want to make the most of it.

I can say one thing about the Sherrif's Card. You may end up waiting 4-5 hours maybe longer. Just plan one whole day to figure out where it is, get your number, and WAIT. Bring a book!

also you must get a referral slip from a club to even get the card. Go to Olymic Garden's or Cheetah's first to get the slip. That doesn't mean you have to work there. They are just easy to get hired at and will give you the slip (most of the time unless it's the day before a huge convention). There are some other measley clubs you can go to if all else fails. Once you have your Card you can go anywhere.

There are a lot of threads on this board about Vegas and all the specifics about the clubs and hiring process....good luck!

I live and work in Las Vegas. Many things to know to save you a hella lota hassel. First off ...your age. If you are under 21 you can only dance in nude clubs. Best nude clubs in town are de ja vu and little darlings. Go to a shit hole to get your referral to dance at one of these. If you go to Diamond Cabaret the guy there never turns away a chance to give out a referral. If you are over 21 you can work at any of the big clubs that serve alchole. The top clubs with the most money making potential are Crazy Horse Too, Olympic Gardens, Sapphire (which is where I work) Treasures, Cheetahs and Jaguars and Spearmint Rhino. The money is good at about any of these places. Where ever you get your referral doesnt mean you have to work there. Also they recently just made a new law that you have to have a buisness lisence. I havent gotten mine yet so I am not sure how that works. I know by mid march it will be in effect that all dancers are required to have them. The sherriffs card is now 45$ and the buisness lisence is 100$. The location of the sherriffs office changed, its right off of russel road. If you get there early ..(730 am) and be there before it opens (at 8am) your card should take you only and hour to get...if you get there mid day youll be waiting for about 3-5 hours. Make sure whereever you get hired you are on night shift. Day shift is no big money. As far as clubs to stay away from Cheetahs is real shady and girls do alot of extras, also any of the little clubs off of highland. Dances are suppossed to be no contact...but most clubs the allow low contact but keep eyes pealed for vice. Sometimes it can be a pain in the ass to get hired at the clubs due to the plethera of dancers in Vegas. I cant really tell you were to go to have the best chance at getting hired because all the clubs will bs you with "they have to many girls" or "come back at another time" crazy horse especially...its all about catching them in the right mood. I wouldnt recomend walking in a club with a bunch of girls trying to get hired at once ....go in alone. Crazy horse you need to go in at 9pm...Olympic Gardens is at 7pm Sapphire is at 730 pm....Spearmint Rhino is at 9pm..Jaguars is at 9pm, cheetahs is pretty much anytime at night and I am not sure about treasures ...probably best to call and ask. Hope I have been of some help and Good Luck

oh and to get sherrifs card make sure you bring you Social security card and birth certificate plus drivers licence...and make sure you have NO Warrents...because the do back groundchecks and they will arrest you and if you have been arrested since you were 18 depending on what for, you should call the sherrifs office and see what they do....sometimes they will just give you a temp card...

Question about the new requirement for Vegas dancers to hold a Business License - can/will the City of Las Vegas issue Business Licenses to persons who don't officially live in Nevada ? If so, this could seriously cut down on the number of out-of-state dancers coming to town since it usually takes 30 days to establish "residency" (maybe that's the whole idea ?)

Last time I checked, there were plenty of out of state dancers who got Nevada business licenses working at the Crazy Horse Too. I think the Nevada Board of Taxation really just wants extra tax revenue, and is granting licenses as fast as any dancer will pay them. Anyone know someone who was denied a Nevada business license for stripping due to their background? I sure haven't met anyone yet.

The business license is something that was just recently made a mandatory thing for dancers. No it doesnt matter if you are an out of state dancer, but FYI if you use your home address as the address for your business license then you can use your rent and bills as tax write offs. As far as the background thing, I am sure if the sherriffs office will give you a card so that you can make money, Nevada will more then likely issue you a business license so they can take your money. Backgrounds are most likely no problem.

Have you actually run this past a CPA or tax attorney? Most small businesses can't write-off their mortgage or rent just because they work out of the house. There are huge amount of tax write-offs dancers can take, rent and the gas bill I'm not sure are. Your phone or cell bills are about the only two utility write-offs I'm aware of as a dancer that you can get away with.

as far as background checks causing denial of sheffifs card- will 2 local ordinance arrests cause me to be declined?

Both charges were for pastie viloations and both case were plead out no contest in return for a withhold judgement.
Is it only felony arrests or convictions that get some one turned down?

I would LOVE to do Vegas from time to time but have been chicken to go for work since I've never been turned down for a job, I go out there to play alot but never tried to work.

Can I still work in Vegas w/ misder. or local ordinace arrests or convictions?

Most areas that require dancer's licensing have a question which basically asks "have you ever been charged with violating a similar ordinance in another jurisdiction". If you answer such a question truthfully, you'll be denied a license. If you lie and answer no, then it depends on how thoroughly the background check is conducted whether or not an out-of-state misdemeanor charge for violating a dance club ordinance shows up during the check. If it doesn't turn up, you'll probably get the license. But if the charge does show up, and if you've signed a application statement which is now a proven lie, I'm not sure what might happen.

The form you fill out to get a sherifs card in vegas only asks if you have been convicted of a felony. The girl I was traveling with had been but she was getting her record cleared.I told her to answer yes incase they did check, well they told her they would not have known about it had she not told them because they didnt check.Well needless to say since she did answer yes they had to call and get information but she did recieve a license anyway, it just took a bit longer.

I know that if you have a prostitution arrest on your record, you won't get a permanent work card, you might get a temporary card and you'll have to bring a copy of judgement in your favor to be able to get a work card. If they catch you lying on your application, game over. If you had something expunged from your record already, you don't need to mention it but if you do, have all supporting paperwork to prove it.
To get a work card, you will be photographed and fingerprinted (high tech inkless kind).
P.S. You want a Non-gaming card. Few clubs will let you work with a gaming card.

I just started working there a few months ago and I was terrified before I went because I heard it was waaaay raunchy out there.

I'm comfortable with some contact, but nothing like I heard was typically expected.

I wound up working at Treasures (on the advice of girls I worked with in New Orleans) averaging about $500 a night, which I know is kind of low for Vegas, but I've made that much without doing anything that made me uncomfortable.

I got my Sheriffs Card within 1.5 hours but haven't gotten the business license yet.

All around though, the money's just not what it used to be, from what I heard. Apparently it used to be pretty easy to work a typical weekend night there and leave with a grand at least, not so much anymore, although there will always be girls making that and more.

Treasures is new and set up strange. I worked there as well and didnt do as well as I do at other clubs. It really depends on the club how the contact goes. Its not way raunchy unless the establishment you are working at is way raunchy. Sapphire, I know, doesnt tolerate raunchiness. ..I have been there for nearly a year and have yet to have waaay raunchy problems of any kind.
As far as the questions for the work permit....It asks if you have ever been arrested. You must answer truthfully. Depending on what for you will either be given a temp 90 day card or a permenint one. I know many people who have had temp cards. you stay out of trouble for 90 days and they give you a permenint one.
Gator69 --- I am not sure who Trisha is , I am sorry. There are so many girls its hard to keep up.
Dancerwealth---actually I am not to sure about that either. That was info from my house mom so I dont know. I guess I should look further into it.
