    Default Mystic tan smell

Okay im not sure if any of you on here have this problem but for a day or so after I go and get the Mystic tan, my skin has this bizarre odor to it. A friend of mine that i work with has the same problem, its not a bad odor , but it definatley smells like a fake tan. It has gotten to the point that i only get it done when I have a few days off so that I dont smell like fake tan when I am working. I try to cover it up with scented lotions but it always seems to last at least 2 days. Do any of you guys have this problem too and what do you do about it.

Oh definetely! Most of the girls at my job talk about this, one even mentioned that her boyfriend said she smelled like "Chicken Marsala" LOL
When I did the spray tan at Holly Wood tan, I smelled kinda like bread or something. I totally do it days before work because I dont like the smell either. Thats the only thing I could recommend (but see you have been doing)
The lotions and sprays only seem to mask it, and it still seems to come out over on top. lol SO I just do it a few days before work. (Unless you work a lot in a week, then I dont know what to tell ya)
    hehe good luck

There is another spray tan I've talked about called Sun Spray. It is not as common as Mystic Tan, but it looks better, lasts longer, and doesn't have the smell. It smells, but after you shower it totally goes away.

I used Sun Spray at Palm Beach Tan when I'm in Vegas, but when I'm in Houston I have to use Mystic Tan because that's the only one there is within cab distance from my place. I definitely like Sun Spray better. The tanning salon people will tell you the two are exactly the same, but they're not. It's a slightly different solution.

I've always wanted to try out the Mystic spray tan. How many applications does it take for you to get a tan? (I know some self tanners that I've used, I've had to put on 2-3 applications). Does it stain your palms? How long does it take to dry (ie, do I have to wait an hour before I can put on my clothes and leave)? Sorry so many questions, I just want to know the details before I go out an get it done. Thanks!

Depending on your skin tone, it should take about two times to get a tan (more or less depending on how dark you want it). It won't stain your palms as long as you get the stuff off in a reasonable amount of time (like 5-10 minutes)....you can get out of the booth in like 5 minutes. It's a fine mist that comes out and you towel dry, so it really doesn't take tha tlong before you can put your clothes on.

I have two coats on now and I have type II skin (burns easily, tans minimally)...and I was nice enough to take a picture for you!

    Farrah,

They are $25 a session or they will usually give you a discount for buying a package (like mine has 5 for $100). I resisted trying it for that reason, but I can't beat the convenience and I always manage to screw it up. If you are good at using sunless tanning potions, go that route. There is a lot of good information at sunless.com about Mystic Tan and other self tanners.

    Cool thanks..
I used to use a self-tanner by Sothys but, I can only find it at the Houstonian in Houston of course. I guess I'll have to call them and order it. I have heard so much about Mystic tan that I wanted to give it a try.
I miss going to the tanning salon a lot..but it cost me a lot of time and money to repair all the damage tanning beds caused my skin.
Anyway..in the mean time I am going to check with the local tanning salons for specials.

Thanks Emily! And the color you have is pretty much what I'm going for...just a little bit of color, nothing too drastic.

Pretty much all self-tanner stinks, to varying degrees.

Mystic tan is just too pricey. I loooove the new foam self tanner by Coppertone Endless Summer! It dries in just a few minutes and looks about as natural as a self-tanner can. The only problem is I guess you need someone to help you do your back.
