Default Customer wants to buy me a big ticket item.....?????

As some of you know, I did a post a couple weeks ago about a "regular" customer who went a bit psycho on me because of a customer whom was paying me well and was from out of town. This past week, that generous customer from out of town returned again, and showered me with so much love-$$$$ that I left the club making a month’s worth in one day.. however, he has asked me if he can purchase something for me and I am unsure as to whether to accept it or not. This generous customer has asked to purchase a car for me of my choice-no strings attached. He says that all I have to do is give him the car dealership name where I wish to purchase the vehicle, along with the vehicle of my choosing and call him with the information and he will take care of it. This man is older- in his 50’s, and is very very nice for the most part, when he comes into the club, he basically comes in for company and he has told me a great deal about himself. I know that he’s legitimately wealthy, as anyone who drops 2K in a day without blinking an eye obviously has money to spare. I guess what I’d like to ask is what would you do if this were offered to you? Part of me feels guilty for even considering it (I am a very modest person in terms of items), he knows that I am married, he knows that I have a child, and he says that he wishes to give me a gift for being so nice to him and for listening. He also mentioned that I remind him of his daughter. This man has been nothing but generous, not just to me, but to whomever is working with me when he comes into the club. I have been given many many gifts by my customers in the past, but never one such as extravagant as this… Feedback????

Oh yeah, one more thing, I did tell my husband about this, and his exact response was "If some guy wants to buy you a car and knows that nothing is expected, than let the fool do it, we’ll just get a lawyer to draft up an agreement that states nothing more is expected from you etc…."

Bleedin' hell!! How do you girls do it?? You should be posting in hustle hut, not here! LOL!

But I know what you mean. Actually, this was one of the reasons I was such a poor hustler to begin with, I was always 'too nice and modest' when it came to things between customers and myself. Heck, I've hardened now.

What I'm saying is take the car. It's a gift. At the end of the day, for a man of his calibre, a car as a gift would be no more of an effort than an average regular buying you an outfit (which I'm sure you'd accept anyway). It's within his spending capabilities so he's hardly pulling out all the stops.

Enjoy what others give you, life is short. And if your husband is cool with it, you should be too and takes his advice on drawing up an agreement with lawyers just to be safe (you never know when someone may change - take your 'psycho' regular for instance).

Tell us how you get on!!! (but don't tell your jealous regular, he just might take proper psycho status on a permanent level).

Car ownership will be in your name, right? so if he wants to take it back, he can't?

As an older customer who has been in a somewhat similar situation and as a result continues to have a long term friendship with a former dancer, my guess is that he does want something in return but not sex. What he probably wants is a friendhsip that will eventually extend outside of the club, in other words he eventually will want to be a part of your private life. If you're not willing to do that I suggest you turn down the offer. He obviously likes you a great deal and will be hurt if you accept the gift but reject his friendship. You need to discuss with him some more so that you fully uderstand what he wants, he definately wants something and you need to understand what that is and to make sure that he understands what you will and won't do. Be honest about this, both with him and with yourself.

    FONDL makes good sense.

One thing to think about if you decide to accept is the car title. In order to be in your name where he can't take it back, you will have to have your real name and address on the car title. Will he see it? Does it worry you if he does?

Gynger, of course he wants something from you. The question is what. If he was in his 80's I would think maybe just a platonic relationship but 50's? Hell that aint old...trust me. If this guy truly has money I assume he didnt get it by being stupid and naive. In fact he probably knows exactly what buttons to push to get what he wants. Id think long and hard before accepting a gift of that magnitude.

I know two strippers who have gotten new cars from customers. In both cases they ultimately had to put out in order to close the deal. Im being blunt but its a fact. They both did it too. One of the ladies was married and it almost wrecked her marriage. I'm a little surprised that your hubby has such a cavalier attitude about the situation. Legal contracts dont mean anything...if your customer is standing there dangling the keys to a new car that you are dying for he is laying the ultimate CS on you.

    Gynger,

If you husband is okay with it, and this gentleman expects nothing other than your company inside the club, go for it. I had a customer buy me a car a few years back, but it wasn't a new one.

A few things to consider, and I may be repeating previous posts:
Will he be purchasing this vehicle outright, or financing?
Will the car title be in your name only?
What kind of personal info will you need to give him to purchase the car in your name?
Will you accompany him/meet him when he goes to the dealership?

Let me know if you need anything.

    Hugs from a tater girl!

I think FBR is right in calling this the ultimate CS. The out-of-towner is putting stress on the social and economic structure of your club. Everyone, including your regulars and husband, will wonder what you really did for the car.... If you make your money on a "good girl" image, you're taking a big risk. Talk to people in the club whose judgment you respect, including your regulars.... If you decide to accept a car, choose one that makes sense for you. You're the one who will be paying for the insurance, taxes, maintenance, and gas.... If either you or your husband thinks this guy is a "fool" for doing this, you will NEVER be able to communicate honestly with him.

There is only one car deal I know about. It involves one of the girls and a "King's" basketball player who is probably considerably better off than your out of towner. She has to put out al least once a month or she takes over payments. LOL.

As one who has spent enormous sums on strippers, FBR and Sporty are right! No man spends without getting something in return. It is up to you to determine what that is and whether you are willing to do it.

Gynger woo woo! He came back!

Well hunny, I definitely think that things should be discussed beforehand. It could be that he wants something from you, or it could also be that he's totally captivated by you and wants to show his appreciation. Either way, it's definitely a good idea to scope out the situation and see what his motives are exactly.

Good luck and keep me posted!

LOL... I wouldn't be surprised if he had similar arrangements in other cities, especially since he still owns a home in SoCal and considering the amount of time he spends in Vegas. However, in this situation, the dancer does have the upper hand if she chooses to renege on the agreement. In general, married athletes in good standings are less inclined to play games of brinkmanship with dancers... particularly when they have the best record in the league.

Don't assume the guy wants sex, although he very well may. Some guys are willing to spend a lot (me for instance) just to have fun company. Just be sure what he really wants in return because he will definately wants something.

FONDL would you buy her a car for just hanging out? He wants sex no doubt about it.

    FBR
True. OR he wants something else that the dancer is most likely not willing to provide, like some sort of quasi-SO (dare I say 'sugar daddy' relationship), clearly not something a married dancer wants to get involved with.

Gynger, I can give you 98% assurance this will get messy if you decide to accept this "gift". Didn't you just have another customer whom you thought was "nice" go sour on you, because he thought there was more between you than there really was? (And if I remember, that was over a LOT less than a car).

Extravagant gifts (anything in excess of $1000 worth) should be clear red flags. They are almost absolute sign of a customer who has gone RIL (regular in love) for a dancer and wants more out of her than just her attention at the club. If he really wants to just hang out, he'll continue to make periodic visits and drop a nice three digit sum on you each trip. After enough visits, you should have enough money to buy your own car, no strings attached.

Thanks to all for all the feedback.. he came back in on Friday during the day and wanted to talk to me about his generous offer and I addressed all my concerns. I know that this sounds absolutely crazy but he says there are no strings attached whatsoever, and even said to me that he’d just give me the freaking money to go and buy whatever I wanted. He said that way I felt safe and there was no issue with anything… SO…….I told him that I would think about it and the next time he came back to town I’d give him an answer.. I figured that this would give him enough time and me, and then if he brings it up the next visit, then I’d deal with it then.. Thanks so much for all the feedback.. all of you made very good points.. I love this forum!!! MUAH~!

He wants sex... the more expensive the gift the freakiest the sex he wants....

I am the nicest guy in the world, and if I can get you a car, and if I get you a car I will want something in return...

maybe the money isnt his and he wants to unload it as soon as possible... I dont know much about this, but Im pretty sure that this is one of those stories that does not end well...

would you have sex with him because he is such a nice guy??? probably not...

just turn him down and let him come to see you over and over again... youll probably get more money with less agravation that way...

He wants to guilt you into keeping him as a big part of your life. Of course he wants sex, but that should be a no brainer. It would be easier if you just had to screw him once for a car....its much harder to get rid of an obssessed boyfriend than a one time john. If only it were as easy as sex.....

As a single girl I might consider it, but if you are married, you are not going to get rid of this guy afterwards.....

Oddly enough, I told the $20K girl to do the vacation...I guess its the "strings" issue...nothing in life is handed to you for free....

I would take the cash for the car. Make sure you get a good extended warranty, too.

I also agree with Katrine about the strings though - it is quite likely that he will try to guilt you into a relationship outside of the club once you have a car. Me being single, I would give him my email address and have an online freinship/keep in touch type thingy with him. If you're married, you probly don't want to do this? Anyways, eventually he will want more. At that point you should remind him of the no strings attatched thing, make him reassure you that you haven't misled him at all, and even blink back the tears and say you don't understand why he's acting like this now.

If that scenario makes you feel bad, don't accept the car.

FBR, in answer to your question and putting it in the context of the girl who used to dance and is now a close friend, if I had tons of money (which I don't) yes I would buy her a car just because I'm very fond of her. And yes when she used to dance I would have bought her a car just for hanging out. Some older guys really aren't looking for sex and this guy sounds like one of them to me. But, like me, he probably is going to want to become a part of her personal life. I think if I was very wealthy and travelled out of town a lot (like I used to) I would be doing exactly the same thing that this guy is if I found a girl I really liked.

As much as I need a new car, and would love to be given one, I would feel veeeery uncomfortable taking up this offer.

If it IS sex that he wants, and even if you were willing to do it, don't think that it would stop there. That would be one damn expensive lay! He would want more. Then you would have THAT to deal with.

If it is JUST friendship he wants (doubtful but not entirely out of the question, as mentioned in this post), is he someone you want to have a friendship with outside the club? The fact that he lives out of town is a plus, since he won't be showing up at your front door every day.

Nothing is free, you will pay with your time and potentially you could pay with an uncomfortable situation that is hard to get rid of.

That said, I would be tempted and would probably go against my better judgement!

Take it and be careful. NOt every man has the same motivations (sex, wanting to be your s.d. etc.) and if your hubby is TRULY o,k, w/ it and you want it than there shouldn't be a n issue. SOme people just like to give gifts, I say go with whatever your gut instinct tells you the man is after.

What you are potentially giving up by accepting this car is POWER, but only if you feel that you are. If you know that you can and will walk away from the car, the rich guy and his $$ whenever you want- and the guy knows it (don't shove it in his face obviously) than you have nothing to fear. Just don't let yourself get sucked into needing him. Also your hubby should know that you are in complete control of the situation and have no problem bailing if need be.
