    Default My time is up

Well, I've been giving this some thought, and the stripping lifestyle is wearing a bit thin on me. I want to start school. I've found myself to be reading more and developing interests in some different subjects.

I figured I'd still dance while in school (all summer long bustin' ass so I wouldn't have to work at all throughout the school year) Plus it turns out my extremely wealthy brother told my mother a couple of months back he would pay for my schooling should I ever decide to go. Can't pass up a deal like that!

I'm sure I'll miss dancing, but geez, my schedule is so varied and complete chaos! I want to establish myself more right at home and be with my husband and fuzzy little babies! (I travel like crazy, gets to be too much)

Hopefully all goes well, and school is for me! I don't think it's bad to be starting at 25. At least I'm going in with the yearning to learn, and better discipline for it than a fresh out of high school 18 year old! Wish me luck!

25 is NOT old! Jeez, are you nuts? There are peeps in MY class that are in their 30s! Go get yourself an education girl and good luck! There's no better feeling than that of knowledge AND knowing that you can make money with your beautiful body

Good luck Megan. Have you considered nursing? I know nurses who make $35+ per hour and there's a huge shortage today. Plus you only have to go to school for 2 years and you can always get a good job anywhere. It takes intelligence, hard work, and people skills not unlike your present job to be successful. But maybe that's true anywhere.

wow congratulations. Thats awesome news girl!!! If I didnt have to pay for school, I'd have never gotten involved in dancing in the first place. But now I am spoiled. LOL
Either way, good luck with school, its very worth it.

It's fantastic that you are following your intellectual curiosity to see where it will take you from here. Go for it and don't look back. Enjoy and good luck, Megan!

Once you start school be prepared to commit. I had to do a lot of adjusting. I had a hard time my first semester and wanted to drop out sooo badly, but I too share the thirst for knowledge and am continueing my persuit of a higher education.

It's really rewarding and brings all kinds of new people, knowledge, and experience into your life. Congradulations!!

Be prepared to get a few bad grades and feel like you don't quite fit in at first.

    Oh yeah, p.s. ...
I'm 25, and I'm still taking classes to further my education while I look for work. In my classes, I see students in their 30s, 40s, and even 50s. Not only is 25 NOT too old to start school, but you're so damn cute they'll think you're 18 anyway!

Megan, I've personally been in classes where 27 year old TA's were teaching 100 level courses to 60 year old grandmothers. Nontraditional students are becoming more traditional all the time particularly in this age of economic uncertainty. I'm giving a lot of consideration into going back to school this fall myself to prepare for a career change.

I'm kinda bummed this means you won't be touring the country to see all us SCJ'ers, but I'm glad that its for a good reason. I say go for it, and best of luck to you. You won't regret it.

    Congratulations and good luck!!!

I agree that age can bring more practical wisdom and discipline. I did much better and worked much harder at my master's degree at 24-26, than my bachelor's, which I began at 17...

The best students, hands down, are even older, with families, and other jobs. They HAVE to learn how to manage their time and have had the experience to do it...

Good luck megan! You don't have to give up dancing completly. I dance three nights a week and go to class two days a week. It can be demanding but i never get board! 25 is so not old! In my psychology class i worked on a class prodject that was 38 with a daughter going to collage for the first time. It is never too late to improve yourself. School is hard and challenging. It is not high school to pass you have to work. Try to go for a degree tailored to you intrests. Studing will not feel like studing. You will actually want to pay attention to feed your curiosity. If you like science like me i hightly advice going into the medical feild! Expecially nursing like the previous post said. The majority of people do not like thease kind of jobs but people make a bundle and there will always be a demand for it because people will always get sick. Well good luck to whatever you pursue and remember you can go to school and dance at the same time. No one says you can't have the best of both worlds!!

Go Megan! In this country you can plug into education at any age, and professors generally prefer older students.... I've read most of your posts, and I think you'd make a super nurse. Most of my favorite dancers are in health care programs.

Wow Megan! What a surprise, glad your going to be going back to school though, shame we won't get to cross paths on your world tour lol.

But your husband is going to be jumping for joy (and your bones lol ) to have you home so much.

Good luck to you and don't forget about us girl! We'll miss you.
