    Default Glasses... who wears 'em?

    ng: :

I just got glasses 2 days ago and i am going to attempt dancing in them tonight because I am really having trouble seeing at work like faces and money and things like that. Anyway, I am not ready for the hastle of contacts and I want to see how much my vision improves before I go with contacts.

Who else wears glasses and how do they affect the $$$???

I did wear reading glasses, but don't really wear 'em now (against my optician's advice; it's not because I dislike them but more that I don't actually feel I need them).

I saw this leggy slim dark girl wear glasses to work (real - not fake) and she looked so effing sexy I would have done her on the spot!! It actually made me think of getting a pair just for work!

I believe you'll find men who are attracted to that because it's different in an SC and could carry a fetish thought with it (think sexy secretary). Go for it! You'll never know unless!

Report back on how it goes!

I wear glasses on the floor but not on stage because I can't whip my head around without them falling off. I get told all the time that I should wear them on stage but I do wear them for dances when asked. Some guys do seem to have a thing for girls with glasses.

I wear glasses for all my regular activities like driving, reading, etc. But as a rule, I never wear glasses on stage or in the studio because they always fall off my face. Plus glasses make me look about 5 years younger than I already look. 18 to 15? Nah....

I wear glasses outside of work a lot. They are black rimmed ones that I fell in love with at eyemasters. At work I wear contacts. My vision is terrible.

I wear glasses! I used to never ever wear them to work, but then one night the smoke was just getting to my eyes so bad I put the glasses on....needless to say I made a lot more cash than I usually did.

I have the black plastic rimmed ones - kinda nerdy, but cute. The school girl thing, I don't have to be wearing anything that remotly school girl related at all and guys will ask me if that's the look I'm going for.

Oh yeah - I also have some guy friends and when they go to clubs they always are going after the girl with glasses. I don't know, it's wierd, but they think that glasses are waay sexy for some reason.

I have worn glasses since the third grade and it never hurt my ability to spend money.

You should be prepared for at least somone to do something thoughtless and inconsiderate like try to grab them off your face. I could not read a newspaper headline 4 inches away from my nose and I can not count the number of times dancers have "thought it was cute" to grab my glasses and use them as a prop, like putting them under their boob or on the top of their head. If you need them to drive have a backup pair just in case.

On rare occasions I'll wear my glasses at work. I wear contacts most of the time, at work or elsewhere. I do wear my glasses more often when I do private parties, since people often request a schoolgirl or teacher look, and the glasses just add to that. I've seen plenty of girls wear glasses at work and do just fine. Just make sure you have a style that's flattering, and please, small frames only.

Even tho' I think it has already been confirmed by everyone's responses about how wearing glasses DOES work and might even increase your $$ ... especially if you are the ONLY dancer wearing the glasses that shift.

I just wanted to back everyone up by saying that there are two dancers at my club who also wear glasses. One is raven-haired and the other a red-head... both different ages (raven haired one is under 20 whereas the red-head is over 30)... and I would say that they do alright.

I'm with monty in that you should always make sure you have a "back up" pair of glasses just in case something happens to your main pair. Also.. it depends on your stage show whether or not you can wear them on stage. None-the-less, nothing stopping you from wearing them 'on the floor'....

Nothing wrong with glasses at all... might make you even more unique

I love my glasses. When I first start dancing, my owner told me I could not wear them, so I wore contacts for a couple of months and hated it. So I just started wering my glasses again without asking and made more money and received constant compliments. For every 25 guys tha say "I love your glasses" (which is at least that many a night), there might be one that says "you should wear contacts". I always get asked if they're real and sometimes have to let people look through them to see that they are very real.

we have a girl at the club who is our "glassy-girl" ... she is sooo hot!
the schoolgirl thing or bussiness look makes her like irresistable.
and she tells that she tried contacts but this was a mess since the smoke and everything mde her eyes burn after a short while so glasses are definitely her chocice.
btw, anais, if this is you on the left, you look relly good with the glasses

This is sort of on topic.

I don't really need glasses except for reading small print or reading our damn jukebox in the club at night

This is my problem: I have a hard time seeing in the dark in a situation where lights will go from bright to nearly dard within seconds. It takes me a few seconds to adjust.

When I have performed in the "legitimate theater", I have actually bumped into props or doors when the lights have faded to black. It's pretty embarassing.

I don't know if glasses can really solve this sort of problem. I certainly don't want to go through surgery.

Has anyone ever had that problem?

    Cheers,

I wear my glasses all the time, unless i am asleep or in the shower, and sometimes during sex, depends on the position. I can not see without them. Once a housemom asked me not to wear them and I fell off the stage! Fortunatly it was a short stage and i got some symaphy tips. If they are fit properly they wont fall off I flip my hair around all the time.

Remembering my biology, the eye has both normal light and low light sensitive parts (rods and cones). The handoff going from bright light to dim light is trickier than going the other way. What you described sounds 100% normal to me.
In a theater setting you get around this by planning--knowing where things are BEFORE and keeping your bearings by off stage lights. You might need to plan a zigzag exit to avoid obstacles if the staging was badly planned.

I have horrible vision! I have both glasses and contacts to achieve different looks. I wear my contacts at work and glass usually everywhere else. There is a dancer at my club who is so f-ing hot with her glasses on. If I could pull off wearing them and not being accident prone in them I'd wear my glasses at work.

    Hey Monty!

Thanks for the reply. My visiion was perfect, except for the "fade to black" thing untilt he beginning of last year. In 2002, I noticed that I sort of saw stars after staring a computer screen for so long...hours. I used to eat tons of carrots pretty much every day.

I stopped when I started a variation of the Zone diet. Apparently, carrots are not a good thing for diabetics. I am not a diagnosed diabetic, but my Dad is and my sister is a major candidate. I guess I figured I was getting an advantage w/ cutting out major sugar.

Maybe I should cut out the vanilla vodka martinis and eat carrots instead

I have horrible vision, I wear contacts most of the time because I think I look like an absolute geek in glasses. But I have those Night & Day contacts that you wear for 30 days then take them out. Well they were giving me problems one night before I went to work and I put my glasses on and my regular came in and barely recognized me! He told me he dug the glasses in a big way and now he gives me money to wear them when he comes in. Go figure, I don't think glasses are sexy, especially mine.
