    Default Wigs !!

I am interested in peoples' experiences with wigs. I am considering purchasing in the near future a blonde wig (don't know what type of blonde as yet) as I don't want to dye my hair blonde and realise it wasn't for me.

I also like the thought of having the versatility (sp?) of having a few wigs... black/raven, red and blonde. I like my naturally dead straight hair and it is in very good condition however I don't want to dye it. :o I've just never been one for doing much to my hair except cut and style it.

The other reason why I would like a blonde wig is to test the waters (as such) to see if being blonde might increase my money (I know it is about sales however sometimes hair colour and where you are can influence whether you do better as a certain hair colour or not)...

Do you or do you know of any dancers who have wigs and can you tell it is a wig ???

Refer me to any older threads at SW if this topic has already been covered.

    Thanks !

PS If anyone has any care tips and advice in re: wigs please post it here...

Yes, I know a girl that has a wig. She is dark skinned with mid-length black hair and her wig is black and very long and stright with a little fringe. Her regulars noticed it was a wig (obviously because of the dramatic length difference) and disliked it. However, from other customers, it hasn't hurt her financially. I personally think she looks great with it and she secures it very well so when she does pole work, it doesn't budge like normal hair.

I have other seen another dark girl wear a platinum blonde wig and it made her money. But it suited her personality and outfits. You just have to have the right package - the visual image is what will get the guys interested.

Ask opinions and then test them out if you can before spending $$$ on them. That way you'll know if eventually having a collection is worth the investment.

Wigs can be very useful. The thing is, it has to look real. Synthetic hair cannot be styled. Human hair can be styled, tinted and made to look like your own hair. A custom fitted hairpiece, beginning with the cap and using real hair is probably the best way to go. Human hair is expensive, but the end result is what you want. Human hair can be washed and maintained, it won't burn if the stage lighting is too intense. A stray ash from a cigarette won't damage the hair. Synthetics cannot last too long from repeated use. So, you invest some money in real hair pieces styled to the contour of your face and no one but you will know.
