Default Please, why do I strip?

    Ok, here's the situation:
Tuesdays, every damn song is a damn two for one! Mind you, we have been slow for sometime and there is only so many 2 4 1's that a person can do (especially with little or no customers)
I manage to get 6 two for ones, which is 12 stupid songs, and more than most managed to do and I go to pay out and I am charged $80!!Now I understand that my house is $65+ $5 for every dance we give, but lets be realistic! Usually if it's slow, they cut us some kind of break, as long as we were honestly trying.
Now, I wasn't scheduled, so I didn't get there until 10 or so, at which time there was 3 customers, all of which were monopolized by other girls. We get 3 more customers by midnight, all of which were about 18 and spent all of their money on the door cost. Nice!
Finally, after 12:30 or so, we get maybe 5-7 new guys. I do 12 dances, aka 6 two for ones, all in a row and then we close. My legs are shaking and I am sweaty. Then, I pay and I see that I just paid double of my take home, providing I don't tip!!
    Yes, that's right, I paid $80, I got $40!
Correct me if I'm wrong, please, but it seems that they should cut some slack, since they are the assholes that decided to have EVERY dance be 1/2 off! Maybe they should use that 80 bucks to start advertising!
Never again will I work another fricking Tuesday!

I can see a 2fer1 for say 20-30 min maybe 2-3 times a night, that's how we do it.All night is a bit excessive, I can sympathize with ya.

So, you went home with $40, after doing 12 dances...hmmm, that comes to...a net gain of $3.34/dance. WTF? That is just so fucked up! I would never work another Tuesday again if I were you, either.

I'd tell them that I'm not working another two fro one Tuesday again and be sure and tell them why.

The House shouldn't be getting any of your dance fees. They get the admission charge and inflated drinks prices, that ought to be enough. Dance fees should be strictly between you and the customer. Most of the places I go operate like that. I hate it when the House gets involved, it makes everyhting too businesslike. How common is it for the House to take a cut?

I have worked for many clubs that take a cut of each dance. Usually it is handled like a VIP room, but the customer must pay for the dance before enterting the couch room. The thing I find unusual is that the clubs that do take a cut of each dance usually count 2-4-1's as one dance. Also there is usually a very low or no house fees when I have to pay out per dance given.

If it is any consolation, I had a crappy night last night too. I tried out a new club and it was really slow.

Sorry to hear you had such a bad night. I hope the rest of the week gets better for you.

They do it because you let them. I'll bet you there are girls working there who don't pay simply because they said "No". Scenario:

You: I'm not working another Tuesday because of 2-for-1's blah blah

Them: ok (or they get shitty which is another problem)

    Monday comes around...

Them: Hey can you work Tuesday?

You: No. Remember? 2-for-1, I got screwed blah blah

Them: Ok. You don't have to pay house/2 for 1 etc. Will you work?

The fact that you are letting them charge you full price for 2-for-1 dances is almost laughable if it were not so sad.

What's actually laughable is how blind you are to the fact that I am not "letting" them do this to me, it's pay or walk.
I can picture them waiving my house (or anyone's, for that matter) on a cold day in hell. Apparently, it is in my contract to participate in club specials and pay my $65 + $5/per dance. If I fail to do so, without manager approval, then my contract is terminated and I am S-O-L for a job, period. I am curious to know how else I should handle this, in your opinion.

"...without manager approval..." See the conversation above especially the part at the end. At least try to negotiate the fair deal which is paying out what you are getting paid per dance.

    Now, I wasn't scheduled
So did they ask you to come in? Or did you ask to work? If you asked to work then you are pretty much at their mercy I guess. Which really sucks. That is one of the reasons why I work in a bunch of different clubs.

Comuntication is good, if they are some what human about it.
Where I live there are only four and a half SC's in my area, one is even closing it doors in two weeks or less, so we will only have three and a half. Anyways, I communicate with my managers and owners some what well, I have the leverage when I threaten to leave to one of the other clubs. We aren't not allowed to work at one club for a couple a nights and then another club for a couple of other nights, the clubs compete with each other too much.
So, maybe you can use that to your advantage.
    Good luck!
If you don't like me for who I am, it doesn't matter, because I do.

Huh, excessive 2-4-1 is a rip off for dancers. I worked at a club where not only were 2-4-1's practically the theme for the entire night , but to add insult to injury the DJ played all songs to their FULL length (It's supposed to be a 3 min limit but he would go up to more than double that if it was possible!). I was like "WTF?? How am I gonna make money??" Man, I was exhausted trying to bust my ass to pay the house fee, then get a cab home. Nightmare. And never again.

Yes, $5 and $10 dance nights suck, but you can still negotiate with the customer for a "better" dance for full price, that is what many girls do on those slow Tues and Sun nights.

Also, when a club I am at has been slow, I will talk to the manager and negotiate NOT to pay my house fee until I have made enough profit to cover it. If they get pissy, I tell them I will go down the street. Now I always make myself very valuable to the club I work in, and they usually agree...use that manipulative mentality mama...go for it. Good Luck!

I would switch clubs if at all possible.

I would never dance an entire song for 3.34 each!!!

Maybe you and some other girls could get together and write a polite but truthful letter to management listing your grievences and some possible solutions. Like advertising gimmicks, 2 for 1's during a certain time limit, or lowered fees on tuesday.

Personally I have never liked 18+ clubs. I stick with the 21+ where alcohol is served. I go where the money goes.

Good Luck with your problem and please don't EVER dance for 3.34 again.

I have to agree with FONDL about the fees! Thats rediculous! I thank God, I've never had to work for a place that does 2 for 1's. I probably wouldn't work there just for that reason. I hate having to push for anything especially if you have to push drinks. I was at a club where they said we had to do a shower show before 12am or we had to pay $10.00. All the other girls did the shower shows so they didn't have to pay.....LOL! While the girls got in the shower and started the show, I then sat on the customers lap and started hustling. They girls watched me take the customers one by one into the back for privates while they did thier show. What can i say....LOL!

Giving up money you made doing 2 for 1's, that's just too much for too little. Like Cash said, dances are already cheap. It sounds like the club does the 2 for 1 thing because they know it'll sell more dances and they'll get an even bigger cut of the dancers money. If it were me, I'd either make it clear that I would not work Tuesdays or just quit the club. Why should you bust your ass so greedy fricken shiesty club-owners can get your money? You know you're worth more than that. Club gimmicks like that really piss me off.

Not only are they getting admission fees, drink sales, and a cut of her dances, they get a house fee too.

Tuesdays usually suck anyhow. That's why they run those 2 4 1's.

Do you have to charge only 2 4 1? or can you just charge whatever you want? Try telling the guys you don't do 241's. I've used that with success before. Or do the first 2 dances 241 then charge regular.

yeah, that is a greedy-ass club. I can't believe they took 2/3's of your money. I worked at a club before where if you didn't make at least $100, you did not pay house or tip out. They wouldn't make you leave with less than a hundred.

In Washington state, they are all 18+ clubs, because alcohol is prohibitted in strip clubs. Shit, we can't even legally smoke cigarettes inside the building at all!
And unfortunately, there are only 2 club owners in this state, 1 being Vu, the other being far dirtier and money grubbing!
Either way, there is a clause in my contract that says I can only work for Deja Vu and related clubs, so I'd have to leave and go to the other clubs, where yes, extras are encouraged and yes, a girl can leave for an hour or so with a customer, but the house takes a little extra and god forbid that they actually have security at all. (wouldn't that make them a pimp? hmmm...)
Vanilla Dog, the thing to understand here, is that there is no deals. Our rent is our rent, if the management wants to give a break, then its up to them to try and bargain will only get my contract terminated. I've seen it happen countless times before.

yeah, there is no arguing or bargaining with the Vu. I've never experienced any sort of nice treatment from the DV chain. Once a girl is gone, there are plenty more to take her place.

Now I can believe they took 2/3's of your money. Is is possible to travel out of state on occasion?

To MotherDaisy, depending on location, just because a club serves alcohol doesn't neccessarily mean you'll make more money there than a nude club.

I do travel out of state occasionally, but this is more the principle than it is the money that pisses me off! It just seems like the clubs would be grateful for the dancers, especially those that are veterans! Because realistically, guys wouldn't go there at all, if there were no dancers, let alone pay to be there! If they are charging $10 per customer door charge, $7 drink minimum, for a damn Coca Cola and you know they aren't paying the employees much over minimum wage, then they are already raking it in without giving it to us in the ass without lube!!

I will never work for any Deja Vu club, in any state, ever. They suck. They have a well know reputation for sucking.

The worst club I have ever been in was in Seattle. I cant remember the name (not Deja Vu) but the girls were miserable.

I try to avoid those contracts, too, most of which are silly and don't hold up in court anyway. For example, my attorney explained this to me: a non-compete agreement saying you won't work for any other adult business or club in the state is not binding unless you are paid "consideration." Then the restriction must be limited to a certain reasonable radius say 50 miles.

The last thing you want to do is get caught in some legal mess, of course, but if they try to threaten you with legal action because you quit and go to work for someone else just see a lawyer.

I would take my chances on other clubs. Can't you hop over to Oregon? Or some indy club in another city? You don't have to tell Deja you are working at another club and by the time they find out (if they find out) you will hopefully have found another club that doesn't blow chunks as hard as Deja Poo does.

Contract? Can you explain this to me? Are you an employee of the club?

In Texas, we are always independant contractors, and we can go where we damn please, I like it this way. How does a contract benefit you in any way NikkiD, please explain, I hope this works out for you...

What about taking a trip to Wyoming or N. Dakota where they book girls for remote places that have a lot of men working in the areas???
