At the club I was at before I broke my foot, we were required to sell two "promos" (which is a two-for-one type of deal with a shirt or some other merchandise include) a night. If we didn't, we had to pay the house's $25 for each one we didn't sell. There have been bad nights where I have simply refused. If you are a good hustler, and make the club money, you will not get fired.

I don't have any problem with the 2/1's. Those are designed to get momentum on the floor. As DJ Blade says clubs that do them usually do them anywhere from 1-3 times per night. In clubs I worked at that had 2/1's I always sold them and made decent money.

But, I wasn't working in a club with so few customers as yours has. On my records, Tuesday is one of my better earning nights but this varies by city and clientele. Clubs usually get lots of business travelers and guys who will spend on Tuesday's.

A $65 house fee is exorbitant for a club like yours. My clubs charged $20 plus a DJ and bouncer tip. And no per dance fee. In Indianapolis when I worked there we had no house fee but a $3 per dance fee and 2/1's counted as one dance. We did those hourly. If we sold 4 dances or less in a night we only paid a $12 house fee. And they always had at least 60-70+ customers through the door at night. In Yuma AZ when I worked there we did 2/1's, but kept all our money and paid a $20 house fee.

Deja Vu sucks and I would never work in a juice bar. They just don't get enough business. I would work in one of the other clubs before I would work for Deja VU.

Juice bars have higher house fees because they have no bar to generate high margins on and full bar clubs attract more volume. That is why Seattle is not worth dancing in in my opinion. Guys want to go out for a real drink, not a root beer.

If I were you I would avoid working Tuesdays from now on, if at all possible. My club has $5 dances every Tuesday -so- I NEVER work on Tuesdays! It's bullcrap to have to pay full house fees when we get paid half or a fourth of what we normally get for the same work.

Wow every time I think about leaving the good old ATL I hear a story like this.

HOw well do you get along with the mgmt? I learned early on that the mgmnt favorite gets special treatment and thats the girl
I want to be. I'm not talking about the brown-noser or )1%)-sucker just the chick who helps him make money, listens to him and who's opinion he respects. If you can, work your way into this position and put a buzz in his ear. Even if you can't change the whole situation you may be able to get some slack on your own fees.

In an ideal world all of the dancers would sit and talk and maybe vote and come together to use their muscle to make working situations ideal for the majority. But if that's not the way things work in your city, you've gotta look out for you, and maybe that means charming the mngr.....or finding another club.
