I voted not sure. I felt it was a conspiracy because of all the evidence and what not, but I also realized that the paparazzi never left this lady alone. I always felt sorry for her in the sense that she was always in the spotlight and they never left her alone, so I thought it may had been a paparazzi attack taken too far.
So I am not sure, because it is not clear.![]()

I don't believe her death was an accident. I admired her very much. Was really saddened to hear of her death.

the incident has too many 'loose ends' for an accident.
Hey Hunny, Great Topic...
I'm watching the Dateline Special right now as I type..
I am kind of divided on the issue. I think it's a mixture of conspiracy, and the paparazzi's carelessness. This woman did not have to die, and it was a HUGE tragedy felt the world over when the news came that first she was in a car accident, and then moments later, she was confirmed dead.
I am sickened with Prince Charles. Always have been. Just because Diana was a better suited choice for princess, rather than a "soon-to-be" Camilla (which I believe she's still married, right?), doesn't excuse him for taking her along for that ride when he clearly had no feelings towards her.
Just listening to the tapes they have published now, it gives me the chills. To hear her describe how miserable she was, that she attempted to slit her wrists, and throw herself down the stairs, while she was with-child, it's heartbreaking.
I believe she had so much to tell, so much left to do in this life, and she never got a chance. It's so sad.
Alright.. After watching part 1 of the special (part 2 will air next week.. grrr, I hate when they split it up like that), I'm surprised at how much I didn't know about this woman. She was so troubled. Charles told her a few times in the beginning that she was "chubby", which brought on Bullemia. Then, at their wedding, Camilla was there? What is that all about? Sheesh, the poor lady. Diana had to put up with this woman calling to talk to Charles, and hear him say "I will always love you" to her.. Blah..
But one thing that I do wish, is that they would let this wonderful lady have her peace. There has been so much speculation, ranging from rumors that she was pregnant at the time of her death, to countless other rubbish. She deserves to rest.
Rhia, I agree....leave her alone. They cant seem to leave her alone even in death. Sheesh![]()
I think it wasn't an accident. That's all I have to say.
You win the battles... I'll win the war!
In the meantime, I'm laughing (dancing) my ass off all the way to the bank!!!
My tuppence from British point of view - conspriracy for sure. The royalty and aristocracy are still on a protected perch here and can get away with almost any damn thing they please, social mobility only goes so far and if you don't have the right education/contacts you can't get into their priviledged little enclosure. The Royal family have any means at their disposal to make sure no-one goes against them, they hated the fact she was dating affluent self-made non-white men and she probably was pregnant (it was a known fact she'd always wanted a daughter). Once she got her own life back she was hardly going to continue under the constrained protocol her ex-husband's family imposed . . . . So they got her. I believe when Prince William accedes the throne the royals will change drastically, and I do essentially support them (they swallow our tax and they take up a ridiculous amount of public consciousness but we wouldnt be 'Britain' without them) but they really need to reform to keep that support :p
Very fishy! Agust 31st is my Birthday. I no longer celabrate. Princess Diana was a wonderful woman.
Tranquil Waters
Conspiracy, totally. I think it's just all to convenient, plus when you take into account she was illegally enbalmed at death. According to French law, she shouldn'tve been enbalmed because her death was questionable, and they still haven't been able to figure out who gave the orders to enbalm. This matters because the enbalming process erases any proof that she might have been pregnant.![]()

ROT!!
(really old thread)
Because there ain't no tits on the radio
lol, I know.... Shamelessly searching the archives for entertainment.
Wait.. is it against the rules to bring up a really old thread? Still kind of a newb.

I'll plead home advantage - I'm a Brit
There are two possibilities:
(a) A driver who'd drunk enough alcohol to affect his reflexes tried to outwit some papparatizi, drove at excessive speed, lost control and killed himself, Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed.
(b) There was a conspiricy to kill the princess. According to Mohomad al Fayed this involved the Duke of Edinburgh, MI5 and other un-named parties.
Two independent enquiries (one French, One British) have both dismissed the conspiricy theories.
There is soon to be a UK inquest into the deaths. (October). For the first time Mohomad Al Fayad's claims will be tested with witnesses under oath. I'm not holding my breath for revelations of a conspiricy.
And for all conspiricy theorists I have a single question.
How did the conspiricists force Henri Paul to drive too fast?
If he drove at the speed limit (half the speed he was driving at) everyone in the car would have survivied.
Phil.

Not sure and im still really sad shes gone![]()

I was really young when this happened so I didn't understand much about it, so I voted "not sure", but I would be leaning more towards conspiracy.
Henri Paul could have been slipped a drug by "Someone" in his drink(s) that night to increase the likelyhood of crashing- maybe the intent was not to kill Diana & her associates, but to cause an embarrassing/scary car crash that would encourage her to stop seeing Dodi Al-Fayed.
Most British people I've talked to think there was something fishy going on.
(Yah it's an old thread but it's still relevant.)
PS Uh oh, now I just Googled the conspiracy theory about Henri Pauls' blood sample being swapped out for a "damning" one- maybe he was not drunk at all.....
(I don't know about you, but I teared up when I saw the card on top of her coffin from her sons.) Can we be so cynical that Henry the 8-th style wife management is still acceptable? Christ.

Conspiracy here
Funny this thread got revived. I was standing in line at the grocery store and saw the Enquierer saying she was't really dead. She faked her death to get out of the marriage or something.
I don't believe that. She left her kids behind. I dont think she'd ever do that intentially.
Of course...it was the Enquirer.
It's true - she's alive - hangin out in Maui with Jimi Hendrix, Elvis, and John Lennon.
"The problem with the world is that everyone is a few drinks behind."
-Humphrey Bogart
"Sir, if you were my husband, I would poison your drink."
-Lady Astor to Winston Churchill
"Madam, if you were my wife, I would drink it."
-His reply
"If God had intended us to drink beer, He would have given us stomachs."
-David Daye

i wanna know why the world sees leaked pics of ol' firecrotch and brit getting out of the car sans pants, yet not a single one of the paparazzi pics from under the bridge ever made it...
it's not like some of them didn't get away before the cops 'allegedly' confiscated the pics...

WOW, 2 to 1 for conspiracy. Personally I'm tired of them and want something very solid to indicate a conspiracy.
A Dittmar Associates poll in 2006 showed that among 18-26 year old college-educated students “27 percent expressed some doubt that NASA went to the Moon, with 10 percent indicating that it was ‘highly unlikely’ that a Moon landing had ever taken place.”

Maybe its just hard to believe that someone iconic is gone. I've heard the "still alive" thing about almost every celeb that died unnaturally, from Janis to Marylin. Those who die at an old age get to just be dead in collective human consciousness.
