    Default Toes Slidding in Shoes

Anyone have problems with their toes slidding down in their shoe and going over the edge.

How do you ladies combat this ugly and sometimes painful occurance? Is it just normal and something I must deal with?

Can I put something under the sole of my foot to make it not slide? All my shoes have straps but I still have this problem.

I have seen girls at my job with this! I dont think its that big of a deal unless it hurts you, but maybe if you put a little pad inside the shoe, it will kep it elevated and prevent your foot from sliding?
    Good luck anyway!

Lexi, are you kidding? It's a huge deal and looks sooooo tacky, imo! In fact, I've heard customers snicker at girls with claw toe.

MotherDaisy, you mentioned in the shoe thread that you wear a size 7 reg shoe and size 7 stripper shoe. I recommend trying on a pair of size 6. If the plastic is too snug to fit your toes into, blast it with a hot blow dryer for a minute till it gets super soft. Slide your foot in and the shoe will mold to your foot. Provided the size 6 is not too short for your foot this should work.

My friend wears those Dr. Scholl gel pad inserts with good results. I'm a fan of the blow dryer method myself.

Claw toe??? oh my god, Sapphire, I never heard of that!!!!!!
I guess since I only noticed it on one specific dancer, and it wasnt too noticeable, I didnt think much of it.

i don't know if we are talking about the same thing here but i always buy anti slips with new shoes which are put onto the shoe bed and they do prevent sliding pretty well! they are oval shaped tabs with glue on on side and a special surface on the other which prevents sliding of the foot *in* the shoe. actually at my shoe store by now i get them for free every time

I am the queen of tacky! My shoes are 1 size smaller than my "normal" shoe size because they don't feel snug enough if I get the right size! Hence, my toes hang over the edge!

Jana - what kind of material are the non-slips you use made out of. The only one's I have seen did not look like they would do very much. Maybe I could find better ones on-line.

The gel sound like a good idea. I tried it once when I was new and it bugged me the whole night. Maybe I need to try again.

"Gripping" my toes onto my shoes works sometimes.

    Any other suggestions??

it is a soft leather around the outside and a rubberlike material in the middle. which has a crisscross structure to itself. it has to put in the right spot where your foot applies the most pressure, just after your toes.
but there is no brand name or so on em, sorry...

Hmm. I would like to find thos, Jana. I have been having this same problem too and it makes it more difficult to dance. My problem is due to my shoes being plastic and when my feet sweat they slide. So I usually wear socks or thigh highs. I have recently thought of maybe putting a patch of cloth tape on the shoes under the ball of my foot to keep from sliding, but I haven't tried it yet and it sounds like these things made for this purpose would be much better. Does anyone know what they are called?

I am also intrigued by your hairdryer technique, Sapphire. I am between sizes anyway. A girl and I at work had the same style of shoes and I had a ten in which my feet slipped. She had a nine which were too tight and we switched. I ordered new shoes of the same brand in a size 9, but they were too tight. I am going to try the hair dryer technique!!!

Lexi, just so you know, I am one of those guys that says "claws". I cannot even think of getting a dance from a dancer whose toes are sticking out like claws! I don't care how hot she is! If the toes look like that, it just kills the mood!!

The hair dryer method works best on clear plastic uppers. The uppers that are bizarre or solid (say solid black or red) with stitching well it may not work I haven't tried it on those kinds. But if you wear say just your standard clear upper (slide on or strappy doesn't matter) the blow dryer works like a dream. Makes it super soft and piable, your foot slides right in, and within a minute it returns to it's original state perfectly conformed to your foot.

you can buy show inserts that look cushiony at cvs or a supermarket. they soak up the sweat sothat you foot does not slide.

I have multiple pairs of the same shoes (at least of the clear plastic ones) and I switch them out when one pair starts to stretch during the night. That way, no pair is body-heated and stretched too much causing "claws".

Certain brands have a wider toe bed than others giving you more "grip". Jante, for instance, is squarer in their clear shoes so your foot can spread on the actual shoe without sliding. The leather pads also help more than the gel ones... for me anyway. I find them in the nicer shoe repair shops here (mid-sized city).

I know a girl that actually puts insole in her shoes, she just trims them down so they arent visible and voila, problem solved.

you might try using baby powder, just rub it into your feet before you put your shoes on so they don't sweat at all.

Or just buy shoes that already are lined with pigskin instead of plastic.

there is a company that makes non slip inserts which are called halters. I think the name of the company is Sure Comfort and you can find them on some of the dance shoe websites.

You may be able to find them at a lower price, but get them!!!! I've always laughed at the ugly foot girls, but after 5 long years my favorite pair of clear wedge platforms has passed away--1st they started bruising my lovely feet as the palstic stretched and then they just collapsed mid-dance.

I've spent over $1000 on shoes in the past 6 weeks and they all have some kind of issue, but the foot petals at least keep my foot in place.
