It depends on the area of the country you plan on working in. If you can be a little more specific then it would be easier to answer you inquiry.

Also, check the club review section. Some clubs have reviews by dancers for dancers.

Keeley, your biggest problem is the Patriot Act, a new law which was passed after the 9/11 attacks. It is designed to make sure that foreign terrorists are never again allowed to come to the US on a tourist visa, be allowed to stay beyond their visa, to get a job in the US, and to form "terrorist cells" while living and working in US cities. While I'm sure that you're no terrorist, the law will affect you. It basically says that no non-US citizen shall be allowed to work for a US business without either a work visa issued by the US state dep't or a "green card" (resident alien ID). They even changed the law such that foreigners who come to the USA to attend college on a student visa may only work for the school which they are attending, and cannot work for other businesses. The law requires all US employers to check the credentials of both US and non-US citizens before hiring them, and imposes heavy fines on the employer if they do hire "illegal aliens" who don't have either a "green card" or a work visa.

In cities which require dancers to obtain a local dancer's license like Vegas or Atlanta or many others, there is essentially zero chance that you will be issued a dancer's license because the issuing authority (local cops) will definitely check for your "green card" or work visa. This means that no clubs in cities which require a local dancer's license will dare to hire you without one, since these clubs risk being closed down by local government if they are caught hiring dancers without a license, not just being fined heavily.

If you come to the USA on a tourist visa, the odds are stacked against you that any well known US strip club is going to hire you without a work visa. There are certainly plenty of "lesser" clubs which won't care whether or not you have a work visa and which will hire you, but these clubs probably don't pay much attention to other laws either i.e. expect to give very high mileage dances and "extras" in order to earn money in these "lesser" clubs. Also, if you are caught working without the proper work visa or "green card" in one of these "lesser" clubs, not only will the club receive a heavy fine but you yourself will be deported, and never again be allowed to enter the USA even as a tourist.

To get a work visa as a dancer, you basically have to be a feature act with an agent who can arrange a work visa to cover a multi-club tour of the US with a definite entry date and a definite exit date. As a house dancer there is zero chance that you will be issued a work visa, because there is no shortage of willing US dancers and because dancing is not a profession which the US government wishes to encourage or expand.

To get a "green card", you must apply to the US state dep't at a US embassy. If you are a nuclear physicist or doctor or college professor you'll be issued a "green card" almost immediately - if not your name is put into a lottery and you have a 1 in 100,000 chance of being randomly chosen. Your odds improve greatly if you are from a country where the USA considers people "refugees", such as former Soviet states, Bosnia etc.

Another common method is for a foreign girl to come to the USA on a tourist visa, pick out a likely guy, convince him to marry her, apply for a "green card" as the wife of a US citizen (which is virtually guaranteed to be approved), and then divorce him the day after your "green card" comes through. However, guys willing to go along with this are probably going to expect a LOT out of you between the time you are married and the time your "green card" comes through.

^^^ many variables, but if you come to the US on a tourist visa, get married here in the US, and your husband and his family are well established, and you and your own family have a clean record in your home country, you will be allowed to overstay your visa and will probably get a green card within 6 months. Biggest variable is probably hiring a good US immigration law attorney who can help you to avoid 'waiting in line' any longer than necessary.
