    Default lipo question

I was thinking about getting lipo in a few different areas and i was wondering from girls that have had it done,How painful it is,how long you were out of work, how long u were bruised.any side affects or problems and if there are any good doctors in the tristate area for it.

Lipo seems to be a taboo subject on this board, for some reason. I am currently saving to have lipo done on my "love Handles" as everything else I've tried doesn't seem to work to reduce my fat there. I am 5'7" and weigh about 130 right now. My BMI is about 20% which is very healthy.

I've gotten down to as low as 110lbs (starved myself) and looked aweful but the love handles hung in there. So I am going to bite the bullet, and get liposuction.

I plan on having two areas done, flanks and abs, and I am pricing at about $3000-$8000 depending on what Dr. I see, and how much the anesthesiologist (I found it is around $1500 give or take a couple hundred). I guess you have to wear special compresion garments for 3-6 weeks after. Most people are able to feel okay enough to work a clothed job about a week or two after surgery, but the bruising and swelling can last several months.

Swelling can't be changed, but bruising can be covered by makeup, or spray on tanning, etc. I am guessing that as soon as I can go without my compression garments, I will be able to return to dancing.

I've gotten some good information, and there is a very active forum at http://www.liposite.com/

I hope this helps some. I have found that here the girls are very against liposuction, but I am in my 30's and my figure is just not snapping into perfect shape anymore. Sure, I could lose the weight through basically killing myself, but it just isn't worth it to me to look like crap just to be unreasonalbly skinny. I have thin hips and thighs, and probably would wear a size 3 if I was proportionate, but I have to wear a 6/7 due to my love handles.

It would be nice to hear from girls in our business who have had this done. I met a dancer once who had lipo, and she said that it was the best thing she ever did for herself, and doesn't regret it at all. She did look great, and I really had to look to see her scars. She took 5 weeks off from work to recover, and I saw her at about 6 months after she had it done.

Good luck to you and keep me posted as to what you decide.

I would also love to get lipo. It seems no matter how much weight I lose or how much I work out-I still have a pouch. It's not like I'm huge now- 5'2", 108 lbs, size 2/4-20% BMI but again, that "pouch" is still there. Was also there when I was 103. I think my hesitation lies in the fact that I haven't had kids yet and wonder if it would be worth me doing so beforehand. *sigh*

In any event, do what you want to do and what makes YOU feel good

A good friend of mine who I work with, whom I consider to be one of the most beautiful, natural looking and sexy girls in the club, she is 30 years old and had lipo done on the back of her thighs/butt when she was 22 and then had it done again a few years later.

She said it cost $6,000 each time and she was extremely pleased with the results. She looks so awesome! Some girls just have fat in certain places (due to genes) that can't be gotten rid of.

Lipo sounds really frightening to me but hell if I could afford it I might do it too.

I want it too, but I don't want to take a month off work. Plus I feel like I shouldn't do it without exhausting all my exercise and die options. I really haven't given that a fair chance.

Emily, Try saving money to cover your recovery costs as well as your surgery costs. Also chat with your club about working at the front door, or as a cocktail waitress while you are recovering.

I've been trying to hear from girls who have had this done, but I only met just the one girl in Minneapolis. Having Lipo is not like getting boobs, you can't usually just ask someone "Gee, you look great, did you have lipo?" Unlike when a girl has great looking breasts, asking the same question about implants is expected.

I will keep everyone posted after I get my surgery, but it won't be until the fall or winter until I can afford it.

I've considered lipo on my thighs. I am 5'0" 102 pounds and can't lose my flabby but and thighs. It wouldn't be so bad if the rest of me wasn't so skinny but I have small boobs, thin legs and arms, torso, etc, but just genetically am "blessed" with thighs that don't match my body. I'd do lipo in a heartbeat if I wasn't so scared it would come out looking crappy and all uneven. I have been looking into having mesotheraphy done but it seems pretty new, at least in the U.S. Seems like it might give more natural looking results though.

Lipo comes out of the closet! Yay!
Try Dr. Murray Treiser in East Brunswick, NJ.

I'm considering having it done on my thighs, since I've had bulging in my inner thighs even when I was in high school and 105lbs. I'm now 115 and at 5'4" I think it would make my legs look longer. You just can't spot reduce, ladies. Either way, lipo's meant to get those stubborn patches of fat that won't budge, not to suck out 6 dress sizes worth of Krispy Kremes. That being said, most of us don't want to run 10 miles a day and live on brown rice and seaweed. But if, like me you eat reasonably healthy food and exercise (yoga and spinning several times a week, and the inner thigh fat NEVER goes away!)

I met several girls who've done it in New Orleans and 2 of them were back at work 2 weeks later, one just a week later! They all went to Dr. Metzner in Metairie and he says to wear the garment for just a week. IMO every girl that I've met who has been to Metzner looks AMAZING. He's not cheap, but his prices are reasonable, he offers financing and his work is very high quality. I had a consult with him after Mardi Gras and he's very good about answering questions, plus they send you a cool detailed booklet pertaining to your case, with prep instructions, info on the procedure and after-care instructions.

The first girl had lipo done on her stomach, thighs, hips and stomach (!) and was back in a week. Makeup, a waist cincher AND thigh-highs covered the bruises. She was able to work but was in A LOT of pain.

The second went back after 2 weeks after getting tummy lipo and a boob job. Makeup hid the bruising pretty well, but the swelling was still a bit uneven.

I plan on setting aside a full month, probably August, since summer is slow for most dancers.

Whatever you do, discuss ANY possible scenario with your doctor, since you don't want to mess up the results, which it could take up to a year to see.

Doing stuff like beer tub, shot girl, etc. while first recovering is also a good idea.

Finally...if you're considering abdominal lipo, EVERY girl I've met who'se done it has has to get fluid drained from the area afterwards with a huge-ass needle. Everyone told me it hurt like hell. However, they all got abs you could bounce a quarter off of. It's not for the squeamish, but proceed at your own risk.
