    Default my hair

ok i have curly nappy afro/american kind hair but my hair is seriously damaged and i'm comtemplating wether to cut it all off or not ....(i dread the idea of going bald)...i dunno if i should cut it and get braids ...i hate braids ...i dunno if i should get wigs instead...i don't wear wigs in fear of them falling off and embarassing me :o :'( walking around bald is not an option ) ....what i wanted to know is... do you guys think that this in any way type or form will take away from my earnings(my best option is to wear wigs and i've never worked in a wig before even though i don't think it should matter but i just want your opinions anyway )......i quit the club i was working at a couple of months ago so i'm not at a particular club at the moment but i plan on going back dancing within a weeks.....i'm seriously confused i dunno if i should just let it be...even though i think the best thing to do is to cut it all off and get it over with ....i hate weaves or anything that has to be attached to my hair ...(*i know ..i know..its pathetic but i just like having my own*) anyhow what do you guys think should i cut rt: or let it be does anyone here wear wigs or hair pieces to work ....(i know it has been discussed before)

If your hair is in such bad condition that it will mean you will be bald if you cut off all the damage; Then you should probably cut it before it starts falling out. And start on some hair vitamins.

I experimented with a fall (3/4 wig) a few years ago, with my real hair out in the front. And no one could tell it was fake. I know because I got compliments on my hair from other dancers and was included in the trash talk about the girls with bad weaves. But I think wigs have a tendency to look fake, like there sitting on top of your head. If a wig is the way you're going to go I suggest you buy from a place you can try it on. You could also try a ponytail hairpiece to give your hair a break from styling, if you don't cut it.

I hate braids and weaves to. I've tried each once and my scalp reacted badly both times.

Also if you can find some pictures of Starr Jones, she always wears wigs and they look good.

Whatever you decide, if done right (not tacky), shouldn't effect your earnings as long as you feel confident in how you look.

Have you talked to a stylist about different possible options? S/he could recommend hairstyles, products, treatments, etc. that would suit your look and your lifestyle.

why is it so damaged? Sometimes straightening it will do wonders. It may be your hair reacting to humidity insted of it being damaged.
I would ONLY cut the broken ends and if you dye your hair (STOP)
Use conditioning treatments and buy hair vitamins.
There are so many alternative ways to style your hair also with out the harsh use of blow dryers and curling irons. Do you have any IONIC STLING TOOLS?
How is your hair damaged, what do you do to it ??

i myself would not opt for a wig in fear of embaressment. A clip on could work only if it is the same color of your hair and looks very natural.

i have had extentions before that cost about 1500. it was worth it until my hair grew out.

Also, see your stylist, (and a good one) She will be able to help you!

Yes, if you dye your hair, Cash, dont do it anymore. That just makes it worse.
I dont know if extentions will aggravate your hair but those always look better than some wigs. I agree, go to a place where they let you try them on.

wow asingle, 1500 for extentions!!! thats hot, but pricey LOL
I wish I could do them so bad. If you search, I did my own clip on extrensions and it fell off on stage. Wonderful lol

Braided extensions didn't damage my hair, they allowed it to rest and grow. I would braid my own hair every 2 months. It takes a while but I know just how tight to do it so it doesn't pull and it always looks great. This was better because to comb it every day exposes it to damage (my hair is very fragile). After 2 months, I would deep condition it, wash it thoroughly and braid again. No relaxer necessary. You can get range of beautiful braided styles. I always would braid to the length of my natural hair and leave the rest as normal hair. Customers loved it and I could experiment with all styles and colours (I kept them fairly natural though - no outrageous colours!). It was fab!

I do not recommend any cornrows AT ALL! I had been growing my hair for a long time, decided to get cornrows and they PULLED IT ALL OUT! I was in tears for a long time, it was absolutely frightening. Went from a full, almost shoulder length afro to a Grace Jones! I was SO angry! I am STILL trying to grow it. Nightmare.

If you get a wig (which I would leave as the last option), please get a professional one. You do not want to be trash-talked and customers can notice quick-fixes if badly done. Get one to suit the shape of your face and the style to be realistic and compliment your features. And secure it VERY WELL! There is nothing more embarrasing than a tilted wig!!

    CA$H..
I have a few suggestions..before you cut your hair try ApHOGEE
treatment for damaged hair. Sally's sells it. Apply it to your freshly shampooed and conditioned hair.. then sit under the dryer until it fully dries on your hair, its suppose to stop breakage. Follow with a deep conditioner..Motions has a great one.
I also suggest buying FRIZZ-EASE Smooth Start line by John Freida. i use the shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner and the extra strength hair serum. It really changes the look and feel of your hair.
One of the ladies on the forum suggested Weleda Rosemary Hair Oil and it works great ! I also suggest picking up a bottle of Barlean's The Essential Woman..its an organic oil you can mix with your juice. I take 2 tablespoons everyday and it really keeps my hair shiny and healthy.
You can get both of the products I mentioned at Whole Foods.

You should check out this link too..I bought the hair pills and they work pretty good.

wow cash, I saw on cyberparlor.com the most awesome lace wigs. If you happen to leave your hair short and just want to wear a wig, you could look into this. They attach lace to a wig and pull it out hair by hair so it looks natural.... check this out

    Hey cash!

I've been allowed out of the hospital again for 1 night so before i go back i wanted to give you some hair tips that work very well for me.

First and for most CUT YOUR HAIR OFF! and start from scratch! trust me! I did this a couple of years back..... i cut my hair very short and then wore weave for a year.... NO RELAXER! and my hair grew QUICK. I am very lucky because my hair grows very fast ( esp for afo hair ) but i would advice anybody wanting a new head of hair to do the same thing. EVERYBODY comments on my hair and asks me what i do to keep it so healthy and long, but to be honest i don't take that great care of it because i texturize it ( to loosen the curls ) get it blowed dryed SUPER straight, use flat irons ( note: ceramic irons ) and use bleach..... however i still manage to keep it long and healthy.

I have to say, Farrah is sooooo right about the ApHOGEE and Motions condtioners/treatments. These are the only two conditioning and shampoo products i use on my hair ( apart from the mayo and egg, which i have mentioned in other threads ).

I am currently using ApHOGEE Reconstructor and Motions Critical Protection & Repair. As Farrah mentioned above the ApHOGEE treatment for damaged hair is good and works for hair breakage and hair loss..... My advice though, would be to use for the ApHOGEE Reconstructor for regualr deep conditioning. Now Motions is my Fav, i swear by their conditioners, in fact every body i know now uses them because of me lol. I'll switch it up... sometimes i'll use the Motions conditioner with sillicon then i use the protein based one and then switch to the Critical Protection & Repair which i ALWAYS mix with egg!

I would also suggest using Orgainics hair mayonaisse ( sp ) which i also mix with egg ( whole ) and leave it on my hair, with a plastic bag/cap on my head and then a towel wraped around on top of that to keep the warmth in.

Now when it comes to hair moisturizers i stick to oil's only.... I use an amazing hair oil that i buy from a guys who orders them from Florida, a bottles costs £10/$20 but i swear by this sh**t. It contains all natural oils and i love it! I can't remember the name, i've run out but as soon as i'm properly dis-charged from hospital, i'm gonna pick some up and i'll post the name of it.... Btw whatever hair oil/moisturizer/cream/grease you use always mix a lil bit of pure Vitamin E oil with it, which i great for hair and skin.

Oh and don't forget to cover your hair in a silk/satin scarf or cap at night or sleep on a silk/satin pillow case to stop your hair from shreading.

    HTH ..... Seraya.
