    Default Losing It Before Summer

i've been talking with a lot of girls on here, getting the low down and some pretty helpful advice. i think the hardest thing for me right now is losing about 15 pounds - before summer. i thought it would be best to try to start as a stripper then. no more classes and my job right now will be too far away when i get home.

what i want to know is, is there anyone who is in my same situation? like, you need to lose weight (about 15lbs.) in about 3 months? If so, how did YOU do it? and if you could, can y ou tell me what you ate in a day and what you did for exercise?

i would appreciate ANY HELP, i need help on this so badly.

    thanks, bb.

    Exercise 4-6 x per week.

Eat 5-6 small healthy meals per day.

Allow yourself to cheat (like every other day the first week every 3 days the second week until you are down to one cheat day--and don't gorge yourself-1 slice of cake is sufficient)

Focus on your goal constantly--don't let anything or anyone including yourself , take away your focus and drive.

I don't understand this....what does meat have to do with sweets?

And how can you fast for so long?

3 months is sufficient time to radically change your looks healthily, but you've got to have the motivation and dedication.

There was a thread on losing 20lbs asap. Dunno where it is (sorry - I'm lazy). BUT do a search, you'll find it. Nina did give some good tips but I'm equally puzzled to why she doesn't eat meat.

To Nina: do they have candy flavoured livestock where you're at or what?? The last part of your post makes me feel like ??? And do you follow a detox program for those 30 days or is your fast religious orientated? Does it have great benefits for your skin?

    Anyway...just curious.

    Invest in two books...

    Body-for-Life and Eating-for-Life

They are both great and are what have changed my body for the best. It's a new way of living and not just some weight loss gimmick.

i think nina's sentence was actually two? is it supposed to be "I rarely eat meat. since I find it difficult to give up sweets--I run stairs daily for about 40 floors, lift weights and meditate." you're saying you don't eat much meat and your vice is sweets?

Both make me sick, in addition to being high calorie fat foods. When I know I need to lose weight I'd rather cut the meat than the sweets.
I have a yeast problem which is mainly centered in my digestive tract. Sugar and starches are big no no's for me--I get really lethargic, I break out all over-horrible yeast infections-vag/oral/ear etc. It went on for so long that I also have Leaky Gut Syndrome--basically all I can have to eat is water and grass --meat and the hormones & dyes etc in it is another major system irratant. So I try to keep my sweets to a minimum--I haven't been able to give it up completely and I cut out almost all meats.

    as for fasting
I started 2 yrs ago w/ a 3 juice day fast--and boy was it hard!! Then I went to a 7 day then 10 then 14 then 30 days..I can do a 14 day h20 fast now but for 30 days I still need juice & broth. Basically it's all mental..Whatever the mind can conceive and believe you will acheive! But the 3rd and 10th day are still pretty hard for me as thats when my body releases most of it's toxins. I always break out, smell bad and am a complete bitch. After an enema and a mineral soak I usually feel better.

I fast for mental and spiritual (not religious) well being, NOT weight loss, although that is one of the side effects of fasting. I've found that after a fast I don't have cravings for things that aren't good for my body, and if I listen to my body rather than getting back into the habit of eating crap I can keep the weight off. But sometimes I want my weight back so I eat (healthy foods) accordingly.
Once or twice I've skipped a quarterly fast because I'm in good shape or I might do an extra one if I haven't been taking care of myself-like drinking too much or being stressed out--or eating to many desserts.

I still have a box of milk duds and beignets and petit fours every couple of weeks --I'm no saint, but I try to balance it out.
    I weigh 143 and am 5'6"-muscular w/ girly curves.

I've lost 24lbs.... (actually it's 28lbs. now), The real trick to losing weight and getting in shape, is knowing your body... I've heard about eating a few small meals a day... but that doesn't work for me... I eat 2 times a day... breakfast I eat at like 10am... and I usually eat dinner at like 4pm... I try and not eat after 6pm though...

Now Working Out... The trick I think is to find things you like to do... I go to the gym pretty much everyday... I usually do the treadmill or the elliptical machine each for like 20mins (If I have extra energy I do 45mins)... then I use the weight machines (which I hate!)... I also like the Pilates classes.

With me, I don't see immediate results... I've noticed, 2 weeks or so later I'll see the results...

My advice to you is... find your own routine, get focused, and don't get discouraged.... once the weight starts coming off (which it will if you work at it) that will be your motivation! Plus when you work out your body produces endorphines, which make you happy... Seriously it's like a healthy high... Endorphines are my choice drug! hehe... Ok I'm a dork, I'll shut the hell up... Good Luck to You!!!

Nina, wow! I give you credit, to have that much willpower is really admirable. BeachBlonde, I wanted to lose about 13 lbs myself and have lost 10 so far, slowly over the last two months, averaging about a pound a week. Recent depression and high stress have been contributing factors of my weight loss but I've also really watched my food intake and have been walking alot lately. I don't eat meat but I am a total carb/sugar addict. I found that a high-protein/low carb eating plan is pretty effective for me, and drinking a TON of water. After a few days, you really dont crave the junk foods as much at all, and if you are lucky enough to be sad and anxious all the time, you really dont want to eat anyway! : Kidding. Seriously though, the amount of time you have set is a very realistic goal and you should not have a problem keeping the weight OFF if you do it slowly. Good luck!

As for exercies - I highly recommend Pilates. This was one of those exercises that was developed for dancers (in a way) hence it will be relevant for you: tone you up, increase your core/inner strength (which helps for pole work), increase your flexibility and help you with posture and back strength.

I hate strict diets where you are forced to obsess about the food. I always end up bienging.

    My BEST ADVISE EVER:

Eat a fiber full breakfast. Include lots of fruits and vegtables throughout the day.

Learn to cook and eat your food at a table in a civilized, planned out manner. Not on the go, whenever possible.

Adapt a healthy lifestyle, don't fast or do extreme diets.

Working out twice a day and really learn to enjoy it!!! Once at the gym and once a tennis game, walk around neighborhood, bike ride, game of catch. Anything, just GET ACTIVE NOW.

If you have any money in your budget for a few personal training sessions it can make a world of difference.

Look at the clothes you are wearing and how you are presenting yourself at all times. Morph into a fit, sexy new you. Get to a pool, even indoors and dawn a bathing suit. Get in touch with your body.

Rid your kitchen off ALL temptation and keep your wallet empty to avoid fast food binges.

Cut all Caffeine and DRINK LOTS OF WATER! I can not stress this enough

Pick certain areas to really work on at the gym. Right now I am working on the back of my thighs and my shoulders. I am not perfect all over, but I have areas I am really proud of.

I think 15 pounds in three months is a perfectly attainable goal. But don't obsess about the scale. These guidlines helped me lose my last 15 before I started to dance.

I have practically written an article here!! Hope it helps. I know you can do it.

One last thing, change that aviator cause I think it belongs to someone else really. You seem nice and I want to get to know you in a unique fashion. The aviator really ruins it for me.
