This has been discussed a few times, and I recently did a search on this topic so I'll just give you the quotes I found by doing a search on the words "License" and "Tina" (gotta love Tina as a great source of information).

    Anyway, here goes:

Dancer licenses are issued MWF from 8-12 and the cost is $60. Call 713-308-8600 for the address of the Vice dept downtown. You must bring with you 2 passport photos you can get at any Walgreens for $7.99 along with a money order for $60. They check for TEXAS warrants only so if you have none you will be licensed.
That info was originally posted last summer so you may have to call the number to get more accurate information.

My ATF is interested in visiting/working in Houston so that's why I've been doing a bit of research for her. Hope that helps.

I am licensed, this information is faily accurate. Allow me to add:

    1. Just like any "efficiently" run city service, get there as early as possible because the processing takes about an hour.

    2. Bring photos with you, but when I went, they had a photographer there that took the photos and used those, but that was 2001.

    3. The building is on the southwest side of downtown, its not just the "vice" department, its an entire police precint, they have lots of stuff there.

    4. Bring extra $$ for parking. You may be able to get a meter space, but there is also a lockbox lot right across the street.

    5. They will fingerprint BOTH OF YOUR ENTIRE HANDS! They have soap, water, napkins for cleaning, but you will have to scrub, so I recommend if you have anything you can take with you that really cleans ink stains, bring it.....

    6. Just like a driver's license, you will need to valid forms of ID, like birth certificates, etc. I don't have a birth certificate (unless someone at HPD can read Cyrillic) so I had a passport, driver's license, and social security card.

    7. You take a number, fill out paperwork, then go to one desk and submit papers, do your photos. Then you take another number and get in another line to get the printing.

    6. Although I kind of felt like a criminal with all the fingerprinting, they were actually quite friendly and cooperative, it was not a bad experience. I wish DPS was more like this....

Now, a question for you all:
How long do these licenses last for? I am not sure, but I think mine might have expired and I can't find the renewal information on the web.......

    THANKS AND GOOD LUCK!!!!

No need to bring your own photo anymore. They take it themselves. So be prepared with makeup on and hair done cos you will wear that pic of yourself around your ankle every time you work!

Men's Club is lowest contact. As far as 2nd lowest...??? I have no idea.
