    Default Newbie Questions

I'm 19 from Oregon and I'm seriously thinking about trying out dancing. The bad thing is that I can't go to check out the clubs around here since I'm only 19 & I have never been to one before. I'd really like to see what it's all about before I decide to audition and make a fool of myself. Any advice? I also have herd that the girls that have been dancing longer aren't to nice to the newbies.. My uncles ex wife works in one of the clubs in my town would that be a bad idea to work with her? We get along fine I think that it would be more comfortable to work with someone I know any advice or oppinons would help thanks! ???

Hi Briteeyez! Welcome to SW. Checking out clubs in your area is definitely advisable, to find out what they're all about, and if it's right for you. All places are different, so check them all out if you can.

You'll meet dancers who are nice and helpful, and dancers who aren't at all. This profession is a very competitive one, so it all goes with the territory. Try not to worry too much about them, though. You can be nice and amicable to them, but never get involved with the cliques. I've always stayed pretty much to myself, it's the best way for me.

About working with your former aunt. that's pretty much your choice. If you find it would be too weird, you should work at a different club than her. But, if you're comfortable with her, and she with you, go for it.

Keep us updated hon, and Good luck!

If you're problem is being under 21, don't worry, just call up the club, say that you're thinking of dancing and whether or not you can come by. They let both my ex and I into the club, marking our hands so the bartender knew we couldn't get alcohol, so we could just get to know the atmosphere. Most clubs should do this. Also, check around for any that are 18+

As for the newbie thing, I only didn't like one other girl when I started dancing, and I don't think she was even trying to be rude, just that she grated on my newbieness. Two more girls were very nice about showing me around, lending me costumes or selling me old ones, etc. And then a glut of dancers either left or were fired, so right now we have a whole bunch of newbies at one time.

As for working with your former aunt, I really can't say - you get along with her now, it might erode your friendship to compete with her. On the other hand, it may work out to have someone up and ready to help. Feel her out about it, have you asked her about her club? Does she seem like she'd love you to work there, or really hesitant?

Confession: The night I auditioned was my first time ever stepping into a strip club. I learned so much at these sites, I was ready, and I rocked! They hired me no prob and kept asking "Are you sure you've never done this before?"
So just be ready w/ confidence and you'll do great!

Don't attempt any pole tricks or stuff like that on your audition. Just look good and dance. I didn't even attempt floor work till my 4th night of working. I've only danced a week and still haven't attempted any pole tricks- I just dance around it. Look and dance sexy- you'll be fine! Then after you get hired you can ask the other girls for tricks and tips. Good luck

yeah stay away from the pole for a while. I have been dancing for a year, and just recently started using the pole. I have bruises everywhere!!!!! No exagreation there!!! LOL. (thighs, calves, hips, sides, even my back.) And make sure that the person helping you isn't a newbie themselves. Don't get me wrong, I love the pole. But it was a biatch to learn. Just take your time, and you will be great.
