    Default Hair Staighteners! Help Please!

Hey Guys... like many people I straighten my hair! I've been using a flat iron by Andis but it just seems to take TOO long to get my hair straight with it (maybe not hot enough?) I want to buy a new one buy I've bought many before that just sucked! What straighteners have worked for you guys?

I use this matrix hair product called "sleek look smoothing system," it's a styling creme. It helps alot when used on wet hair before you blow dry and iron. It comes in a bright orange bottle, sold at hair salons.

When buying straightners buy the "ceramic" kind..... they are the best.

yeah I've used the matrix stuff... I love it. I'm using some other salon product right now that's pretty good as well... can't seem to think of the name right now... It doesn't seem to be the product I use on my hair but more so the straightener. I believe the one I have is supposed to be a ceramic one. I don't know this is all really confusing. I've heard of and tried some salon ones but do I really need to spend $150 on a straightener? Just curious of what everyone else is using. Thanks guys!!

If you are straightening a lot, YES, spend $150 on a straightener! I have the CHI ceramic one (paid $130, I think) and it is very different than the metal ones. first, my hair is a lot softer when I'm done. It doesn't take nearly as long since it gets hotter. and I've heard they are better for your hair.

You should break down and buy a better straigtening iron.

MY girlfriend bought the CHI straightener off EBAY for 99 dollars. It is definately worth it, it will make your hair look like a movie stars.

There really is no other way to make your hair look so silky and so straight. Here's the place she bought it from...

Yes i agree $150 is worth it..... GHI never heard of that before, but i suppose thats an American brand. We have GHD ceramic straightners which are about the same price ( when converted )... But i'll have a look at the link, thanx Ryan.

I also have a CHI flat iron. And you do need to spend some money. There is a huge difference in how your hair looks and feels with one. Here's a good site to check out.

I use the Matrix Sleek shampoo and conditioner, blow dry staight then use a ceramic flat iron. It's by Hellen of Troy from Sally Beauty Supply, about $40.

I have the 1" and it's fine. I guess the 2" would go faster?

I like the 1" because you can use it to give your hair a curl at the end because it's so maneuverable.

I'll add my two cents here: I had a $30 straightener from Sally's beauty. (Helen of Troy brand) and it was pretty good. It was black and gold, and I used it all the time. It got abused because at work, girls always used it. So I threw it out. But it did the job, although sometimes the hair wasnt as smooth as I wanted.
A girl at work had the expensive one, $150 (could be the ones you girls are talking about) and when I was done straightening it out, OMG! My hair was amazing! Soft, stick straight and super shiny. I think I am gonna buy one of these very soon!

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate all your help! Does it matter how hot it gets? I found a ghd one on ebay but it says in only gets to 210 degrees. Is that hot enough??

nah i dont think it matters how hot it gets, perhaps if its too hot its not too good for you! if you've heard enough good things about one brand then go for it. but the ghd ones do get pretty hot. Also they only take about 15 seconds to heat up and be ready to use-wicked! Good luck!

I've got pictures so you guys can compare.

Okay, the first is my hair naturally. The second is an old picture in which I used a metal straightener. The last is tonight which I straightened with the CHI ceramic straightener.

Great pictures - I now see the difference! I've looked up several chi ones - which one do you use? I've found one that's black and one that's black and red. Your hair looks great! :o

I don't know what's different about the black and red. My guess is that it's the same thing, but I don't know. Mine's just all black...the classic

They are the same. They've discontinued the black design and are making the newer ones black and red.
