    Default how necessary is floorwork?

Hey guys, I've only been dancing a couple weeks, and I'm getting better on the pole, but I've never done ANY floorwork. I'm thinking of auditioning at a bigger club, and I was wondering how necessary it is to have good floorwork, and what are the best ways to learn it, seeing as how it is rare at my club now?

It's not necessary at all. Some girls do a lot of floorwork and some don't do any at all. Some clubs won't even allow you to do floorwork.

    i'd sug
gest for starters to slide down the pole with your back against it raise your legs, point your toes, open your legs, then close...see how you feel about the floor..try crawling as well..(yup, your knees will get ugly).one day when you are into a song, it will all click, and you will find yourself all over the stage..but if its not necessary and you dont feel like it, dont..good luck

? why isn't pool work allowed in some upscale clubs?
I thought it took a talented and experienced girl to do the harder pole tricks?

Floor work is pointless at a lot of places. I have to do it at my club though...it's small and intimate with a regular customer base, and guys are way more likely to get a dance from you after you've laid down on the tip rail and spread 'em.

Guys DO like it...I actually get applause sometimes when I get down and show pink during the second song. It is gross and tacky, though, IMHO.

No, seriously, it's so not necessary. I have worked at clubs where pole and floorwork was the norm. I never did it. I might have made less money on stage, but I still made plenty of money on the floor, and that's where the real money is made.

If you like it and are particularly good at it (and I've seen a couple of girls who made pole work look sexy and classy), by all means, go for it. But it isn't at all necessary, no matter what club you work in.

And if you're the only girl in the club that doesn't do that stuff-you're a novelty. So it can help you that way too.
I have worked at several upscale clubs and none have disallowed pole/floorwork.

And as far as being a novelty for "walking back and forth like a model" *yawn* I have heard time and again from customers that girls who do only that are boring on stage. IMO, if the customer wanted to see that, they'd tune into the Victoria's Secret fashion show.

Personally, I don't bother with the pole, cause I'm too clumsy, but I think some amount of floor work is a necessary element for a good stage show. Make sure it's classy and flows. It doesn't have to be complicated, just not sloppy.

You don't think guys would like to see this right in front of them? ???

And if guys wanted to see pole tricks, they'd go to the circus. Nothing against pole tricks because I think they are cool to watch, but they are hardly ever sexy....acrobatic, maybe, but we're not trying to get perfect 10s from the judges by incorporating as many triple axels as we can.

Emily, reread my entire post. What you quoted was taken out of the context of the post and the message I posted did not retain it's meaning.

I'm not into acrobatics or runway modeling style of stage shows. There is somewhere in between where a perfect balance can be struck.

I have worked in both types of clubs. i have done floor work and pole work then not done them at the same club. i didnt make anymore money doing it than not doing it. i think that it is just a personnal choice.

I think that it only matters whether or not the dancer is enjoying herself onstage. You can have someone who does amazing pole work and floor work and dancing without either that looks completely bored (even though her routine is flawless) and no one pays attention except to bits and pieces. Then you have the girl who doesn't have a whole lot in floor or pole work, but loves to dance and that shows...and people really respond to that.

The point is simply...it doesn't matter HOW you dance, just as long as you enjoy yourself while you are doing it. That's really all that matters...the rest of the stuff is just icing on the cake.

I enjoy watching gorgeous girls parade on stage as long as they have a slow, sexy, posey style. In fact, when I went back to work after my boob job, I didn't even dance, I pranced!

Swinging around the pole in those daring and impossible fashions has always been part of my stripper fantasy. I love living it out. I actually have dreams where I am swinging on stage and impressing the hell out of people. I wouldn't work at clubs without poles, but when it is not done right it is quite tacky.

I have to disagree with alot of the ladies here. I worked at Pure Platinum, very upscale gown club. I did LOTS of pole work, and floor work. If you learn how to move sexy and slow while on your knees, you will/CAN steal the show! many fantasies are brought out when a women is on all fours swinging her hair around with an arched back!

And pole work? Very sexy, but must be done slow and sensual, (fast is for playing around freeing up your time.) just like making love to an object.

I was a floor dancer for years! Lots of guys came to see me, and hang out after a show. I always mixed up my floor work with many different looks. Hair, makeup, shoes or boots along with my SNAKE, a burmese python, on rare occasions!

Yes, you can sell yourself with a good stage show!

brittz, you can move around slowly, walk like a model (hehe), whatever makes you feel good. You can dance seductively with out having to use a pole or being on the floor.

pole work is one of those things that u have to be really sure about - are u willing to risk cracking your head open for some extra $$ that may cause u to be out of work for longer than that buck will stretch?
floor work is NOT always needed either. i have seen some girls who are really good at it, and others who just look stupid, so it all depends on how YOU feel. mostly all you need is a good additude and confidence and the other two will not matter a whole lot in the long run
