    Default weird tanning question

OK, I've got a weird one for you--maybe you guys can help m,e out.

I CANNOT tan my face with sun. In fact, I have to wear high-SPF sunscreen on my face all the time, ear hats, etc. Because I take birth control pills, the sun causes me to get something called "mask of pregnancy," or melasma. It ends up looking like I have a 5 o'clock shadow--very unappealing.

SO I use fake tanner. But it's a pain in the ass and I'm tired of it. I've got to keep up with it all the time, I keep missing spots, I get it on my hands, etc. And I tan naturally pretty easily and it tan lasts a long time with me.

WHat I would like to do is tan my body in a salon and somehow not tan my face (and just use the fake tanner on my face). Because sucha minute amount of sun will cause the melasma, I've got to come up with a creative way that will make sure ZERO light gets through to my face. I mean NONE. Just a little bit of sun (mere minutes in regular sunlight) and the melasma starts to come back and takes a long time to get rid of

I'm thinking maybe severa layers of SPF 75+ or zinc oxide and some sort of mask--a towel won't be enough. How do I do this? And also make sure that I can breathe?

    Anyone have any ideas?

I always used to use sunblock on my face, plus the towel. If that's not enough maybe you can buy a Jason mask and add that lol! Actually if tanning is such a problem I would switch to all-over self tanners, it's healthier for you anyway. I quit the salon and fake tan now and I still get complements on my tan all the time. With a little practice you learn to avoid the streaks and brown knees, then you can't even tell its a fake.

This is what I used to do before my skin cancer scare:

I used a stand-up bed and would clip a t-shirt against my face with a butterfly clip, like I was gonna put it on but just didn't put my head through the head hole. The fabric was easy to breathe through and provided about 15 SPF. I wasn't on the pill though, I just didn't want my face to get wrinkly It worked though! I used slightly darker foundation and bronzer in work, but I never tanned the rest of my body that dark anyhow so it didn't look weird.

What about using one of the spray on tans like mystic tan? That way you dont constantly have to mess with lotions and your own self tanners, but your face isnt exposed to the sun, and it will be even with the rest of your body. Good luck!

Miss George...I have the same issue with the face not tanning and also the I too take birth control and have had the large brown spots on the face. Ti Amo has a great suggestion with the Mystic Tan or the new self tanning systems found in the salons today...I have used the Mystic Tan and it does give great even color on the face. I have also used Neutrogena Tanning foam and that works good. I feel your frustration with this issue because the brown spots are hard to get rid on your face...I have been trying to get rid of mine for 3 years!!!
    Good Luck!

Use hydroquinone 4 the best skin lightening cream and it is also used to treat melasma skin disorder. This cream is really effective on dark patches on skin.
