Default Installed Pole at home - Worth It?

    Hi,
I've been exotic dancing a total of about 6 months now on and off (though I've done modeling for much longer) and to be honest my favorite part about dancing is being on stage.
I'll be honest, I'm not a great hustler at all, so to compensate I make sure I always look great, smile, and dance well on stage.
Anyways one thing that I lack is being able to do pole work simply because I don't know how/hadn't been exposed to it. It seems to be a great attention getter though so I'm planning on teaching myself.
I bought a dancer pole from online, installed it, and purchased Fawnia's Pole work DVD which is actually pretty good and has lots of tricks/moves.
My main question is though, do most of you find pole work increases your earnings or not. Just curious. Thank you all for your time and for reading this long post.

    Hi MonicaF,

I guess it depends on where you work. The guys at the club where I work always clap for the 2 or 3 girls out of about 30 that does pole tricks but, I don't think it substantially increases your tips.

I personally don't do pole tricks and focus my stage time on giving most of the guys around the stage a personal dance. I try to get eye contact with each individual guy and make him feel like I'm dancing only for him. I think that increases my tips more so then me doing pole tricks.

I agree with Tori. I know a lot of girls that do pole tricks will say that they get dances because the guys love them on stage, which is probably true....but my theory is that guys will love a girl on stage if he finds her particularly interesting to watch. You can get this through amazing pole tricks or through Tori's (and mine) approach of flirting with your customers while on stage. I will come down stage a lot and find the same results....that guys compliment me on my dancing. I can't dance, and honestly, don't even try. I do think the girls that put more effort into it will get more stage tips, but I think the girls that make a connection with the customer will get more private dances.

This connection goes beyond seducing them from the stage. That's just phase one. If you are not a good hustler, maybe work on that instead of the dancing. One of the big parts of successful hustling, in my opinion, is believing in yourself. If you want to convince your customer, you have to be convinced in yourself.

I think many girls who take the time to learn pole tricks are more serious about their job so in my experience they have made good money. That is not to say that a girl who just dances isn't serious.

Personally, I love the challenge of learning pole work and think it looks really awesome. I hate when the crowd doesn't pay attention to me, so I do a few simple tricks to get them watching again.

Although a great stage show can help one out, I don't think it can conpensate for hustling skills. Theres a difference between going home with a wad of $1 bills and a wad of $20 bills.

I say it could increase your earnings if you work in a large club pole tricks will make you more visible across the crowd.

At least its a good way to get a fun workout at home. Also, some clubs will audition girls and like to see them do pole work to get hired. If you aren't stunningly perfect, that could give you an advantage in getting hired and selling from the stage...I want a pole too, but no room!!

IMHO??? If you can do a great stage dance with some great floor work and really connect with the customers, then adding in a pole trick or two would probably help you. HOWEVER!! I have seen some girls doing pole tricks and they sucked. If you cannot do pole tricks looking graceful and like you are a pro at it, then don't do it. It really takes away from the show. One dancer I know is an ok dancer, but she absolutely sucks doing pole tricks. She's been doing them for over a year and hasn't gotten any better. The tricks aren't flowing...they're jerky when she does them. So, she's doing her dance and has the guys attention and then she does some pole tricks and (oops!!) the guys start finding other things to do. So, if you want to add some pole tricks to your routine, make sure that they look good...otherwise, it's just not worth it.

IMO, as a girl, when i go to the club, i like to see the pole tricks more than having a cooch in my face... i think of it as art; however, the guys i go with would rather get attention from the girls than watch them do tricks. I'll throw a larger bill on the stage if she's working the pole really well... they'll shell out a larger bill if she's flirting with them using eye contact, a little conversation and a little @$$.

oh, btw, i was thinking of getting a pole, but i'm currently a renter and will probably move at the end of the lease. are the rest of you homeowners? is there anyone out there that rents their place and just uninstalls the pole when they move?

I have a pole in my home, have had it for about a month now. To me, pole tricks are very important, because I love challenging myself and I love the pole! Also, I like the way it makes my body look..toned.

I love watching pole tricks! I think having my own pole would be an excellent way to excercize at home but I don't know if I have room and I have a ceiling that has a pattern on it so I'm not sure if it would work. I don't own my house either but I don't really care as I'll just patch the ceiling when I leave if it leaves a mark. You can get removable poles but I don't know if they'd work with my patterned ceiling.
