    Default Pole diameter?

Hey everybody! I'm planning on starting to dance in a few months. Since I have a few months to improve my dancing (just had a baby) , I'd really like to learn how to do some pole tricks. I bought Fawnia's video (Ok, truth be told, I'm a loser and I have the Floor Moves, LapDancing, and the Pole videos) - ANYWAY, my husband is going to install a pole for me to practice on. I know most of the clubs use 2" poles, but the best option (price and convenience) is a steel-lined brass pole at Lowes for $30. Price is great, but it's an inch and 5/16, as opposed to 1.5" or 2" - I figure there will probably be an adjustment period with the pole at the club when I actually start working, but how hard do y'all think it would be to transition from the small pole to the larger one? Should I bother with Lowes or stick with a 2" diameter? (I found a 2" in NJ for $52, so it's not a huge price difference...) - Ughh, sorry this got so long - Never been very succint. THANKS!

I would go for the 2 inch one just because the price difference is not that much. I know I am thinking in stripper terms, but the price for the better pole would be a single lap dance more. Not bad.

I got Fawnia's lap dance DVD and watched it once, but now it won't work in my DVD player any more. It's an expensive player so I don't know what the problem is.

It's great that you are preparing and you have your husbands support. You sound like you will be a great stripper but recovering from a baby is NOT easy!

Yeah, I'm having trouble going from the 'mommy of two kids, coupon-clipping' mindset to the 'getting paid just to get naked' mindset. You're probably right about the pole thing... I feel your pain about the Fawnia stuff. I bought the videos before they started offering DVDs and one of them got a little warbly after something under five viewings. I was kinda pissed, but whatever - I needed the help! - OH, and recovering from a baby is miserable this time around! I'm just under 6wks. pp and I only have like 2 more pounds to lose, but I am so sore! I can't believe it. It was not like this the first time. I'm so eager to get into shape (LOL - lots and lots of ab exercises - 6 wks and STILL have a 27" waist - UGH) but it still hurts A LOT to even flex my abs. Thanks, though! I appreciate it!

If you're first learning then the smaller diameter will be easier for you. I don't think it really matters. I have the pole work and floor moves videos too. I get a kick out of sitting my lazy butt on the couch, eating popcorn and admiring Fawnia's poise and superb form. (Obviously I'm easily entertained)

Good luck with the pole. I was going to install one in my garage I even had a brass pipe contractor guy come out and size up the garage. I don't know what happened I got sidetracked somehow...

At six weeks your uterus has not shrunken yet. It takes an unbelievably long time. I still looked pregnant at six weeks post partum cause i am a small girl.

Start off the exercising slowly. Your body is fragile. I tried to do way to much way to fast and definetely paid the price, but I had a c-section so maybe it is different.

I still can't get rid of the damn love handles and my belly looks funny when i lean over. I have to be careful when I am choosign outfits.

let us know what you decide on the pole

I think the larger ones are easier if you want to do the type of tricks where you raise yourself up. There is more surface area for your hands to grip. My first club had a pole maybe 3" in diameter and it was great to learn on.

I would say to go with the 2" diameter pole. The smaller pole would probably be a little harder to get a good solid grip on...as there is not as much to grip. Also, if you learn on a 1 5/16" pole, and then you go to the club to work on a 2" pole, it could really throw you off a bit. The grip is just different. Well, at least that is my opinion. I was pole testing and just did the grip test on several different poles, and found that I was the most comfortable on the 2" type of pole that they use in the clubs.

    Happy pole working!!

I must have really small hands because the fatter poles I can barely hold onto.

No doubt, our pole is like 3" at least. I want to get something discreet like the Lil Mynx, but that thing is only 2"!

A three inch pole, I could never grip that! Can the three inch ladies do the fancy tricks as well?

Some girls can do amazing routines on it, but most of us don't do pole tricks. I want to learn though.
I think it's about 3-3½" because I think it is a little bigger than a Pringles can . 2" seems tiny!!

Okay, I was at the hardware store and I think it's only 2½" after all. But I still say 2" is tiny!

This thread is beginning to remind me of one over on the men's side. And they always told me the size of my pole wouldn't matter....

    "I think it is a little bigger than a Pringles can" {ouch}
"A three inch pole, I could never grip that!"
"...the fatter poles I can barely hold onto."
"I don't think it really matters."

    sorry...too silly...
