Default What to do after Stripping???

I have been thinking about this whole thing. There is this 41 year old stripper who just became a prostitute because she can't make the money at my club any more. She was telling me about her kids and I really felt sad for her. I just really terrified because I don't want that happening to me. I am psych major and in my second year of college. I am trying to make sure I have other options. I just don't know if it's a good idea to keep with my major because I don't think I'll make any money. I just feel that this business is so cut throat. I don't think any one goes into it thinking that they are going to be a prostitute. I wonder if anyone ever worries about the money running out?

Sure, I have, but you SAVE and prepare for the day when you aren't able to strip anymore. Always have other options available, then you won't be grasping for straws when the inevitable happens.

I don't see why anyone NEEDS to prostitute. If you can hustle well, you can sell anything and that goes beyond lap dances.

I agree with Emily. If you can sell.. then you can pretty much land a 'job' anywhere.

Now.. are we talking about 'jobs' or 'careers' as there is a difference. A job is what you do to pay the bills whereas a career is something you will be doing for quite sometime and want to continue improving yourself within...

that's why dancing can sometimes be a job for some, a career for others and a way to support one's lifestyle for others.

For me it is between a job and a career. I am using as a means to an end.. and that end is to start creating my wealth via investments (increasing my passive income).

I'm 25 now.. and hope to be out by the time I'm 30. I've given myself 5 years.

Don't change your major just because of money. A lot of people don't even have careers that relate to their majors.

But it's true that you really do need to save money now for when things start sagging and you're not quite the prom queen any more.

I feel bad for this woman who is prostituting herself now but have any of you seen the movie "Monster'? Than scene where Eileen is out trying to get a straight job is just so sad. Especially if the woman you're writing about is a career dancer and has never even had a straight job she has several strikes against her. No resume, no experience in a straight work environment which can mean making several gaffes that some of us might find obvious but that she could be oblivious to. Also, when you're used to setting your own schedule and working nights, it's not easy adjusting to the 9-5 average slob's grind.

David Bach's books offer pretty sound and realistic investment advice, and won't put you to sleep. Especially if you're young, start saving ASAP. Even $50 or $100 a week can make a huge difference thanks to the magic of compounding interest.
"She has written so well, and marvellously well, that I was completely ashamed of myself as a writer...But this girl, who is to my knowledge very unpleasant and we might even say a high-grade bitch, can write rings around all of us who consider ourselves as writers"

Exactly! If its what you enjoy then i think you should stick with it.

Now i haven't started dancing yet, but i only plan to for 5 years..... the only reason that i want to strip is for INVESTMENTS & SAVINGS.

When i start stripping i plan on living the same as i would if i had an office job or something, and putting away as much as i can. This is why i love this site, because it has taught me soooo much about finances, investments etc. At school i will be studying music and business. Music is what i want to get in to BUT a business degree will take me anywhere and help me manage my own businesses.

It really doesn't make sense to me to do a job like this.... just to make money to either piss away or to make ends meet i e. pay pills and put food on the table..... and to have nothing else to show for it. You HAVE to have a back a plan..... its silly to think you can rely being a stripper for ever.

    Seraya.

Don't feel bad for prostitutes...they are either screwdly smart or poorly planned stupid.....judgement is really useless...once you can get in your head that sex is a commodity, the rest is gravy...after all, who feel guilty about selling insurance that screws the average citizen...PLENTY of people, but its their job and they do what they must..

Just know there this strip career has a shelf life....it is longer than you think if you are a solid salesperson....good carrers now - accounting, financial management, phamaceauticals, health management. these places don't tend to care about your stripper past...they need talent..

You can always take the path of Katrine the Righteous....start your own compmany!!!!!!
