    Default dry skin from tanning

I know tanning is talked about all the time, but I'm hoping someone can help me out...

I tan in regular beds, for only 15 min or so b/c I'm Italian so I get good color easily. I use lotion before and after, and both are specified for maintaining your tan, and I have experimented with many brands... despite this, there are some times when, after tanning, my skin dries out so much that it makes me itch incessantly, to the point that skin is practically falling off my legs... EWWWWWW! It's not like flaky skin, but soft skin that falls off. Any ideas how to deal with this??? I've also tried different beds and different tanning places, which make a difference, but dont eliminate the problem, and I dont want to get into the mystic tan or other spray tans.

That doesn't sound nice !! I suggest using aloe vera, cocoa or shea butter. You might also want to increase your omega 3,6 & or 9 intake.
Be careful, because your body will pay for all of this exposure in the long run..

do you get itchy tan from laying in the sun?

I ask this because I only get itchy tan from tanning booths.

Ummm...if you have soft skin falling off, that could be signalling that you are getting BURNED in the tanning bed. You may not have the tolerance for the bed. I stopped going to the tanning bed, because I got itchy and my skin would just flake off and peel. No matter how much lotion I used...or how much water I drank, so I ended that. I do the mystic tan, now and I love it. If I were you, I would go to the doctor the next time your skin reacts to the tanning bed like that...that cannot be a good thing.

I'm definately not getting burned... I've actually only ever gotten sunburn once in my life and in the real sun I use baby oil (yes, bad I know). And yes it ONLY happens in the beds, where I usually get decent color, not too much, but some. Lately I've actually found that I get the best results as far as my dry skin goes with no lotion at all... I wonder if they all have a common ingredient that does this to me?
