Default How many of us dancers are not party girls?

Sometimes when I am talking to a customer and he askes so "where do you party?" "what clubs are cool to hang out?" I just feel like a fool because I honestly do not know. Ofcourse I just name a random club that one of my friends liked and play it off like I like to party to cater to their fantasy. But in reality I never go clubing and I do not really like to. Occasionaly I like to go to a bar and have a few beers with my friends but that is about it. I usually like reading, movies, shopping, going to the gym, talking on the phone. I'm pretty dull huh? Alot of my friends at work go to parties after work and I can not wait to go home and sleep. It is so funny how everyone assumes dancers party alot. I'm sure alot do and not that there is anything wrong with that but I was curious how many dancers are homebodies like me?

I gave it up years ago. Home/woods/museums/library's/gym/shopping!!! are my thing now. OF course customer's don't seem to want to hear that I'm just an average girl who happens to get naked for a living.

Between 18-21 I was a party girl. Then I got something similiar to alcoholic poisioning where I couldn't keep even water down for many many hours (and.. to make this picture even more gross..hehehe.. I was even spewing up bile at one point)..... for the third time.

Ever since that third time I have cut my drinking down ALOT ! Hence it isn't as fun to 'hit the clubs' when you are the only sober person there. I find that the guys in the clubs act like the guys in the strip club hence I start to act like I would around strip club patrons... no fun at all.

I'm definately a home-body and have been for ages. I prefer the movies, dinner, hanging out at a friends' place, camping (whenever I can), internet/email, reading...

So when a punter/customer asks me what clubs are decent... I go off what the 'party girls' (dancers) say are the decent clubs.

I guess what it all comes down to is priorities and how each of us can enjoy ourselves.

I learnt a while ago now that alcohol is not needed for me to have fun. I can have fun going hiking alone.. or seeing a movie with friends.. or catching a meal with friends... hanging down at the beach with (or without) friends.. etc.

It isn't so much I'm not a party girl anymore.. just that I find 'my bliss' in other ways now.

That was me in the early/Mid 90's. I traveled the US following the rave scene and worked whatever clubs were nearby. My drug of choice was E and I had alot of fun at first but the longer you are in the scene the more bad shit you see and sometimes it is really bad :'( but I wont go into that here~ then eventually the bad out weighs the good and you either get out or you die.

I used to go out and party without "partying." I would get drunk, though. Is just drinking considered partying? I have never done drugs, but I HAVE seen people do mushrooms, coke, and weed all in one sitting. I HAVE had people open up a briefcase full of every drug under the sun and say "take your pick." I never had the desire to do them, and there's no tellin' how I'd react on them. I already act far too jello-y when I'm wasted (which I don't get anymore), I can only imagine what drugs would do! It was fun getting drunk and dancing all hours of the night, but I don't miss the puking and the hangovers, or waking up in someone else's bed.

Yes, this is me. It sounds to me like you partied pretty hardy, exotica! I mainly used to drink way too much, not remember what I did, and sometimes I had some one-night stands. I smoked a lot of pot too, and dabbled with other drugs - X, coke, crack, shrooms, cid, meth, ghb (although not because I chose to), pills, etc.; I did heroin once. These days I drink occasionally, and that's about it. I still like to go out sometimes, but I moderate my drinking. I would say that overall, my serious partying days are over and I'm a homebody!

I used to be a major partier when I worked as a receptionist and when I was in college. I saw and experienced a lot of really bad stuff and a lot of really fun times too. Eventually it got to the point where everyone just thought of me as a stupid loser drunk. They were right. I also did almost every drug except for heroine. Once you start seeing your friends OD and go to prison you start to wake up and realize that the yuppies who go out and get wasted every now and then are not on the same playing field as the hardcore partiers. A lot of people out there have amazingly, large and strong safety nets. If your not one of those people, look out. I always pretend like I am a party girl with customers because it makes them feel secure.

I so totally agree with you on that score! I started when I was REALLY young (like 13). If you could smoke it, drink it, or pop it, I was there. When I got pregnant with my oldest, it made me step back and realize that the stuff I used to do was some of the dumbest shit on the face of the planet. Thank God that I figured it out before I killed myself. Don't get me wrong, I still have the "lets get shitty" weekends, but those are very rare, and the next morning I remember why I don't do it.
My answer to customers is "I've only been in this area for a month..... if you go ask (fill in dancer name), she'd know better than I would, because she's lived here a long time". With a big enough smile, they tip, you and go ask the other girl who later laughs her ass off. But, they do the same thing to me when there is a guy from out of town who asks them, so it all works out.

Aacck! Sometimes I get so sick of guys who just can't believe I don't party, that I don't do this or that stereotypical stripper activity. Sometimes I'll be talking to some guy and he'll ask me a question, and I give him the honest answer, and he'll sit there and say 'no'. WTF??? I've had assholes sit and accuse me of lying about everything under the sun. As if they give a damn at the end of the day what I do in my personal time and whether or not I'm telling them the truth about it!

I used to be a SERIOUS partyer ! I still enjoy partying my brains out on special occasions. However, I make it a point now to NEVER party anyplace where friends and neighbors/club customers/fans might run into and recognize me. Foreign countries and international waters is good !

Stripping is my party time. Otherwise I am at home. Even on a friday night when I could be partying I will be on the computer, cleaning, chatting on the phone, etc....

I lie about half the time when men ask about my party life. This sounds silly.... but I don't want to come off like I sleep around a lot.

But I think I will start lying more and telling the men I have a wild time and I throw parties a lot. I have always secretely wanted to be one of those stupid sority girls who live to party.

I was a big drinker from 18-21ish. chilled out for a couple of years with a non-partying bf. broke up with bf, went crazy again. partied with every drug available from 22-25. got pregnant and quit it all immediately. i'm now almost 26 and a single mom of a baby.

i only get to go OUT out once a month or so, i drink and maybe every few months i'll have some snow. otherwise, i like hanging out at friends houses who also have kids or have friends down to my place. we make all kinds of fabulous food, drink good beer and wine, and maybe smoke a little. good company & good conversation, that's all you really need.

I just can't bring myself to dance on a regular dance floor where the guys are staring and they don't have money in their hands..I feel like FREE show..NOPE NUH UH! Ain't happening. OMG...Doe's anyone else feel this way? Do you feel like you can't separate it. While others are there partying and humping..I'm thinking hmmm...Man I could get money for that move and that one and that one...geeez!

Non partying dancer here. Since I travel out of town to work, if a customer asks me where a cool club is I'll just say that I was going to ask him the same thing.

I also get sick of the smoke, the lights, the loud music. I would preferr a rum drink on a tropical beach in the sun.

I used to *throw* parties, wow... as far back as '94 I was doing that. So basically I partied and hung out with bands and DJs for a living (or partial living... never made all that much money doing it). Anyway, I was dancing and promoting both for a while and one day I just woke up and wanted quiet. LOTS of quiet. It gets hard being *on* all the time.

So um, yeah... When work is over, I want to go home and read. Been that way for a while now. I'd rather spend my time these days reading, antique-ing, cooking, hiking. I will admit to the wild night here and there, but I'm better at doing Sunday brunch for a social life.

Between about 16 and 22 I was also a big partyer - drank heavily and smoked vast fields worth of pot. But I'd quit that before I started dancing. LOL! Lots of civilian girls can put most strippers to shame when it comes to partying. In my experience there's really only a few strippers at any club who are really heavy partyers, but they of course are the ones always seen out hootin it up, so the rep settles on all of us. The rest of the girls may do this or that sometimes, but aren't really big partyers. Hell I haven't done what I consider partying more than 2-3 times a year since I was 22, and even then I can't hold up to my old party standards, not even close!

    Def NOT a partier...

I havent had a drink since I was 15, smoked weed 3 times ever in my life, again, when I was 15... I've never even had a cigarrette to my lips!

I do like to go clubbing every once in a while just to dance... I was dancing to house music long before I ever started taking my clothes off while dancing! I'm friends with some dj's (Mike Bugout and Paulie Feva) who are pretty big in the new york/metro area, so I'm out to support them every so often...

I'd much rather spend nights at home with a movie and my bf!

I used to go out all of the time when I was single and looking to get laid. Now I have a boyfriend (hence a steady source of sex) and don't "need" to go out anymore. Plus I don't drink, which makes bars less fun.

Yup, I'm a bonafide dork-- no partying here. I'll drink and have fun at work, but on my off time? No clubbing/partying, unless it's a special occasion like a friend's birthday or something.
