Default Why would a dancer do this?

I was talking to a guy friend and he said he went to a club a while ago and seemed to think the dancer he was talking to was really into him. He put on this fake irish accent and he said she gave him a dance and three free dances. He seemed to think she really fell for the accent. WTF? I would never give anybody a free dance let alone three no matter how nice or cool the person was. I'm there to make money not give my time away for free. Does anyone eles think this is riduciulus?

lol. Ironic that you would post that today. I gave a guy a free dance today.

Way different story though. He was a guy that I went to school with for years, same bus stop etc. He had a crush on me in high school, but we never dated. He was always super sweet to me, and looking back, I was kind of mean to him. He came in for his birthday tonight and asked me to dance for him. I gave him one dance on the house kind of as a way of apologizing. Definatly a one-time event in my dancing days.

I would never do it in an attempt to gain customers though. That's unfair to the other girls. Plus we can get fired for it.

I had a dancer at Dannys (the male club around here) give me two free dances and his number once. While I don't think it's right, if I go back there I'm going for him first!

So as wrong as it was, it works. I'd let a manager know, and let them handle it. Plus the guy may have just been lying in attempts to get a free dance from you.

My time is my money. This is one of those things that get on my nerves soooooo bad. If this guy's gonna do it one time, who is to say that he will not do it again? Good hell. Some humans get on my nerves. However, if she was stupid enough to do it and not get paid, she should not be in the business, and won't be for very long 'cuz she's gonna go BROKE soon if she keeps it up.

We pay a price for the air too, the polution effects our health, that is payment! You have to pay taxes in order to breath American air legally.

Anyway, I have been tempted to do free dances, but never given a full one, maybe just a preview. That chic was crazy. She left with 20 when she could have had 80. In stripper terms she made enough to barely get her nails done when she could have gotten a full pedicure/ manicure and a new outfit.

Maybe she was new and board or that guy was really attractive to her. She could have been drunk.

    Ummm...yup.

I have given a few few dances before, but it was for something different. A very faithful regular of mine was moving so it was just as a sending off (and a rare thing at that which I don't think I'll repeat).

I won't ever give free dances to a one-time/first-time schmoe. What have they done to deserve it? And an accent? Man, that is not an excuse. Good luck to her. When she starts charging the guy again (if she does) it will cripple her business because he won't like the change of rules.

The ONLY time I've ever discounted a dance was for an ex boyfriend- and I made him pay half price. It was a slow night and I doubt I would have made much more anywhere else. This actually paid off because one of his friends ended up spending $200 on me- and I probably wouldn't have gone to the table if my ex hadn't asked me to dance for him (one of the guys with them was my best friend since elementary school's much older brother who I couldn't stand).

Giving dances for free? What's the point of working. You don't see people in other jobs telling their bosses "I like your accent, pay me this hour and I'll work the next three for free." So why would dancers be any different.

Stripping is a job... I do it to bring home the money and pay the bills. If someone wants to do it for free, well then they should be going out to party, not coming to work and taking away from my profits! There are exceptions, but if that girl really did give away 3 dances, then she needs to be told by management that that's not acceptable.

The girl might as well have been at a party, dancing on a table for free..

Are you sure he is even telling the truth...

But to be honest i have come across many americans prepared to give me a hell of a lot more just because they love my accent ( and my charm and good looks of course ) .... they are suckers for a an accent!

And here with a likely unpopular opinion...

The case originally present by Lilac sounds fishy to me, but even if true, it sounds like an aberration. If not, the dancer certainly didn't go to business school.

However, I can attest that a free dance on top of several purchased dances is a hell of a gesture and a selling point. Several businesses reward repeating and loyal customers, and I see the tactic as no different. I remember the first dancer who gave me a free dance, and 4 years later, I'm still seeing her regularly. Do I get free dances out the ying-yang? No, of course not, but every now and then I still receive one. It makes me feel special, and I'm more apt to tip more, come back more often, etc.

    Just my two cents.

he said she gave him a dance and three free dances.
The part he left out is he paid $120 for that first dance...

    <buzzer sound> TRY AGAIN!

ok, how does her giving away free dances cut into your profits? lets examine just how wrong you are.

    1. he wasn't your customer to start with. he chose to get dances with her. wether or not hes paying her doesn't mean anything to your profits. she didn't make you dance for free while she was giving free dances.

    2. he gets free dances from her. so this means, that she didn't charge him. so the money he would've spent on the dances with her, he retains. he had two choices: leave with extra cash or spend it on other girls. THUS INCREASING THE CHANCES HE'LL GET A DANCE OR TWO FROM YOU!

you should be thanking this girl.

why exactly is this "not acceptable?" is it because you think guys will demand three free dances everytime? not likely. and if they did, so what, they wont find anyone to fulfill that promise. so they'll either leave disapointed evertime, or realize they got something special and will accept that they actually have to pay.

if you can dispute, it do so. im curious as to how that possibly hurts your income. unless you pool tips (which ive never heard of in an SC) it wouldn't hurt your income for the reasons i posted. prove me wrong.

Stop being such an asshole, if you can.

    1. he wasn't your customer to start with. he chose to get dances with her. wether or not hes paying her doesn't mean anything to your profits. she didn't make you dance for free while she was giving free dances.

But it slowly alters his opinion of the club and of strippers in general. If he knows he can get something for free, he'll be more inclined to barter with other girls in the future, which wastes our time, and time is money!

    2. he gets free dances from her. so this means, that she didn't charge him. so the money he would've spent on the dances with her, he retains. he had two choices: leave with extra cash or spend it on other girls. THUS INCREASING THE CHANCES HE'LL GET A DANCE OR TWO FROM YOU!

Yep. But in my experience, he's much more likely to get an extra drink and tip more ones, and then leave.

you should be thanking this girl.

    Nope!

why exactly is this "not acceptable?" is it because you think guys will demand three free dances everytime? not likely. and if they did, so what, they wont find anyone to fulfill that promise. so they'll either leave disapointed evertime, or realize they got something special and will accept that they actually have to pay.

Or try to argue about every little dollar and what they get for it.

Now, I've wasted enough time on you, and *I* am convinced of my point, so it doesn't matter if you are! Later!

The guy was probably talking shit. You know how guys will BS about what they got from a girl....customers also like to brag about getting free dances or whatever from strippers. Perhaps this girl did give him a free dance, but I'm more suspicious of the guy...

maybe she was high, or drunk, or he was lieing, or maybe her marketing skills need a tune up, she could think "well this will make him think i like him and because he thinks that he will spend more on me..."

personally i would never give away a free dance, i don't even like rubbing up on total strangers, why do it for free? now just being naked for free... thats a diffrent story, as long as its outside a the club.

Free dances? Show me and the mrs the line!
We all imagine ourselves the agents of our destiny, capable of determining our own fate. But have we truly any choice in when we rise, or when we fall, or does a force larger than ourselves bid us our direction. Is it evolution that takes us by the hand, does Science point our way, or is it God who intervenes keeping us safe.

So much struggle for meaning, for purpose. And in the end, we find it only in each other. Our shared experience of the fantastic. And the mundane. The simple human need to find a kindred, to connect. And to know in our hearts... that we are not alone.

I kinda agree with Sander8son's logic, but its a theory that can fall either way. Sometimes we have girls who do cut rate dances which makes more customers ask for cut rate dances. However, if this one girl was the only one who did them and everyone else said no then everyone would fall in line with the majority who pay the going rate. But, more and more girls are desperate for dances so they too do cut rate dances which lowers the expected monetary standard.

One dizzy broad goofy enough to do something like that is only losing herself money. I don't care how bad the club is that nite the avg girl is gonna tell some guy asking for a 3:1 to get lost and will probably laugh at him. She may get more dances if this is standard operating procedure for her, but she'll always have less money than the other girls. I don't really think its a problem with just one girl doing it b/c she's really only cheating herself.

Personally, I think this guy is full of BS, but haven't we all seen a dancer or two who was that stupid?

While I openly support dancers who want to run the equivalent of a frequent flier program for regulars who've given them a lot of income, giving complimentaries to a random customer is just ridiculous.

In fact, when I see a dancer so desperate to make a sale that she is offering free or discounted dances at will to anybody, that generally sets off the R.O.B. alarm in my head. That "free" dance just might be bait to get me in the private dance room (where of course once we're finished, I can pay her full price or explain to the imposing Fat Tony bouncer that the dancer offered me a "free" one).

I make it a habit to avoid 2-for-1s for the same reason.

i would never give away a free dance... or a discounted one for that matter... we have agency girls at my club who take it upon themselves to do dances for $10 instead of $20... since at my club, during the week we keep all of the LD money... and all night guys complain that "well she does it for cheaper..."... it sucks and messes up my money.... grrr....
