By leaving and going to work for any one of the numerous other nearby clubs. I sure hope the money is worth it to make up for 6-7 day weeks!

From a nostalgia point of view, it's great to hear the Chez is back alive, at least by namesake. San Francisco hasn't been the same without that big neon "leg" jutting into the city streets.
It doesn't matter if you're somebody in this world, it rather matters you mean the whole world to somebody.

First off take a deep breath and relax. Your not a miracle worker.

As far as dealing with bad management, first you need to have a meeting and express your concerns and attempt to work out an agreement on how things should work. All businesses need rules and guildlines, these need to be clearly set. When these are in place and followed, it usually eliminates a large part of the craziness and helps a business run on its own. A business that has no rules, treats employees and customers bad, or continually breaks rules will have a rough time making it because there is always someone out there who will do it better.

Also if you are doing more than simply dancing then ask for or develop a job description. This way you both know what is expected of you. It could be Head Dancer, or anything but this will seperate you from the rest because of the extra work/support you provide. You can then use this to go back to him and ask to be compensated for the extra work you are doing.

It sounds like you are doing it for free now and until you ask to get paid for it, you don't know if he's serious about the position or just glad your doing free work. As in any negotiation ask for a bit more than what you want but be ready to deal with the worst. If he says he doesnt want to pay you then say fine I will go back to being just an independant dancer. Try to work out a deal that you both can live with.

As far as recognition, well most managers fail at this (I have in the past, doh) but things like this always have a way of coming out down the road so just take the personal satisification in knowing it was your idea.

If all of that fails, then quit. That is not a company you want to be working for.

    Good luck.

Do tell! We want details! I have heard about the club is second hand (from SFRedbook) and would like to hear more! Is there alcohol? Food? What is the target clientele? Topless or nude? I've been looking for a change, at least a partial change from the Broadway club that I'm at right now. Was thinking about Gold Club, but...it's the same DejaVu song and dance, not that I don't like management at either club. Just the same corporate politics.

    Let us know!
