I found there to be an enhancing effect to 1-3 drinks, and diminishing returns after that, depending on the rate at which they are consumed. Now...some nights those drinks are alcoholic, other times they are coffee.

I am 4'11", a stocky/sturdy 100 lbs, and 32D-21-32. 1/2 Hawaiian, dark brown hair, and hyper as hell. I can't tell if I look cute, amusing, or pathetic when I'm buzzed/hyper-caffeinated, and whether people pay me out of entertainment or pity when I start mixing dancing and chemistry. I just tend to feel better and less inhibited naked when I've been sucking on an enhanced beverage, and I have an excuse if i tumble while stomping around in shoes that add a full 10% to my height.

Very nicely put. It's not the job, it's *those* (not all, but *those*) men.

We need beer goggles too. I never thought about it that way. All this time I thought I sometimes looked to find inhibition in the bottom of a glass...it's actually *patience* I'm sucking through that straw.

I drink a little- maybe 1 or 2 rums and coke most times I work (if 2 maybe 3 hours or more apart)- but occasionally don't drink at all. (I'm small and didn't drink much in the past so that gives me a buzz but I'm not really drunk.) I drink because a few customers said I acted nervous (which made them less comfortable) when I have a converstaion with them. Having a drink makes me more relaxed and I talk and dance slower. I keep trying to talk and dance slower without it but it's hard for me since my personality is sort of shy and sort of energetic.

It's funny I've noticed that the dancers in my club who seem to do the best are the ones who seem the most comfortable with dancing and being very slowly sensual with the customers.
I was wondering is it bad to have 1 rum and coke (and occasionally 2) 3 times a week in the long run? Is there any other way to get a similar relaxed and slowed effect without drinking. (I've tried breathing deeply but I'm not seeing much results with it.)
    Thanks!

I love to drink at work, but it really doesn't help me make money. I can get really mean to customers, and lazy quickly. So if I want to drink I wait until after I've made my money, like an hour or two before my shifts over.

cottoncandy, if you do find the need to have a drink.... why not have a glass of red wine? Red wine is one of the few alcoholic beverages if consumed a few times a week is okay for you and actually has some health benefits for you. Are you able to do that?

Or even mix it up if it's a cheap red wine with some coke of something.

I learnt that whenever my confidence is under-minded (sp?) that having a shot or a vodka, lime and soda does wonders for me..... learnt this last night. I was feeling little like the average girl.. little miss girl next door... compared to some of the stunners who were working that night (Saturday)... so to help my mind "get over" comparing myself (under-mining myself)... I had the vodka, lime and soda.

That's all I had.. all night... 10pm until 4.30am .... it worked. As a rule of thumb, I do my work sober. Only times I have a drink is when my confidence needs a boost.... ie new girl in a club and so forth.

I have to have at least one or maybe even two, to get me in a very flirtatious mood & fake the "i'm so into you" attitude, lol. And I can be a bit shy sometimes too.

At times, me too. You can try to blank everything out of your head. Like when you were a kid doing a school play, what teachers use to tell you....make believe the audience is in their underwear. LOL THat's what I do, and it helps with a little alcohol of course, lol.

me too... it seems i am much more shy when i am stone cold sober... and i find myself hanging in the dressing room making 1,000 excuses why i can't find anyone to ask for a dance when i'm not drinking... when i'm drinking i'm more social ( ok i admit it drink 4-5 glasses of wine... and sometimes a couple of shots over the course of the night)... can dance better and am less tense... and my manager loves me b/c i make the bar money with drink revenue.

    Ok, these are my confessions:

Lately I need more and more liquor to get through the night. I havn't worked in a week and a half, but on my last night at the club, I had 4-5 drinks, then drove home. Its not the first time I drove tipsy, but this time I was DRUNK!!

The bumper of my car was cracked the next day, and I can't say for sure that I didn't hit something myself - but maybe it got hit when parked, I dunno.

I'm gonna try to drink less. From now on. Max 3 drinks a night.

when i first started dancing (a whopping 4 months ago) i would drink almost every night-- guys would buy me drink after drink, but not dance after dance, and i was basicly going on dates instead of doing my job.

one night, about two months in, it was especially slow, and no one bought me drinks. i had so much energy, ran around having a blast, took everyone's money when i was on stage, and enjoyed my job for the first time since the first week or two. i drank a few times after that, but i was so thrilled with how amazing it felt to be sober that i quit altogether.

i am a very energetic dancer-- my stage sets draw a crowd even when other girls are not making tips-- and when i drank i often came off of stage drenched in sweat! gross! of course, i would immediately run to the dressing room, wipe myself down, spritz on body spray, and grab some water, so by the time i got back on the floor, a new girl had captured the crowd. now, when my last song is over, i wipe the sweat off of my face, find the person who tipped the most or seemed the most enthusiastic, and get to table dancing. people will watch from across the room, and as i keep their attention, i can sell dances to them later.

i also spent way too much time being concerned over one guy or table when i drank-- after all, they were supplying the drinks. once i was buzzed, i no longer wanted to dance, so i would spend hours trying to hustle vips, sometimes getting them, and sometimes not. now i rarely do vips, but i make money because i have more energy to be a dancer instead of a drinking buddy.

now, i'm naturally social, flirtacious, and hyper-- i understand that many girls who are shy need to loosen up a bit to work well, and i totally respect that. i'm just telling you what worked for me.

also, at my club, if we drive (as opposed to being dropped off and picked up), our keys are taken as soon as we get there, and we have to pass a breathalizer test to get them back. i think this is absolutely wonderful-- especially considering several girls who get falling down, throwing up, yelling, screaming, passing out (and in one case, being hospitalized for alcohol poisoning after she stopped breathing in the dressing room!) drunk on a regular basis. while i understand having some drinks, or even occasionally getting drunk and cutting loose, i do see girls around me who have a serious problem with alcohol that far outweighs any illicit drug use i see in my club.

I always drink at work, not to get drunk, just somewhere between buzzed and tipsy. I can work stone cold sober, but I'm generally more flirty when I drink a little. I've never made an ass of myself though. Some dancers will actually pay for their first drink, to get going. Not me, I'll only drink if a custie's buying

I do. I'm not saying this is a desirable way to be, and I don't drink a lot in general. But when one is working on a drink commission, one makes more money drinking real drinks (as opposed to tequila flavoured water) - and one makes even more money drinking shots - because they are gone faster, and they're fun (for some bizarre reason guys like a girl who will slap her hand down on the table and say "Alright! Let's do some shots!" I don't get it either - I prefer the martini look myself). And (you see, it's a vicious cycle) the more money you make, the more drunk you get. Although I agree you do have a optimal place of drinkiness - it can go too far.

I never drink at work, I feel that i'm there to work work work and just make $ and I can't do that if i'm drinking (it makes me lazy and feels like i'm "out" instead of at work.) I feel like-hey I wouldn't be drinking at a "normal" job so I shouldn't be doing it at the club- i save it for actually being out with friends.

I find it depends on my mood. Sometimes not drinking keeps me super-focused on opening wallets, emptying them, and sending patrons to ATM's . Other times, I think that having a drink or two helps. For me, what it comes down to is the TYPE of customers you are dealing with. A younger or party-type group is easier to work if i am having a drink along with them. If I am having an intelligent conversation with a businessman or older gentleman, I'll stick to bottled water.

(btw, when I order a water, i always give the bartender a few extra bucks - i know they HATE it when girls drink water keeps everyone happy that way )

When I get to work I drink one drink before I go on stage. Sometimes there is not enough time. But I feel more at ease after a drink. Then after I go on stage I try to do as many dances as I can. After about four hours I have another one just so I can keep my motivation going. Then I am good to go. I just keep on dancin!

As much as I hate to admit it, I am not at work today because I drank too much yesterday. It does help me to be more patient with the customers. I hate drinking when I'm at work. It makes me so mad that I am so weak. I try really hard not to get stinking drunk any more; but I still drink more than I should.

Thorn - I am going to try not drinking more than one or two drinks today (maybe none-we'll see). I have been thinking about trying low contact again. I think that it would be a refreshing change.

I have to admit, I can and have done the job sober, however...... I am more tolerant when I have a SLIGHT buzz, more chatty, and more flirty and I make easily twice the money..... I have gone overboard a few times though!! Funny though, the nights I have gotten wasted I have made a lot of money!! Guys think that if they buy you lots of drinks and give you a lot of money they are for sure going home with you, so you have to know your limits!
