One or a couple don't hurt me, but having anything over 3 will slow me down. I will bullshit with guys to long and not even realise it.

Little story: I worked at a club for not so long. All the girls got drunk there and they told me the goal to making more money was getting drunk. So I got drunk every nite I worked there and never made over $400. On top of that, I went home in tears everyday because of men thinking I was a stupid drunk.

Thorn, I don't have to drink to work. I can work without drinking at all, and I have done so many times. I just feel like I make more money once I've had a couple drinks. I feel like I dance better, and I'm more flirtatious and outgoing. I don't drive home from work either-I have a friend who does not drink at all to drive me.

man i suck when i drink at work...I THNK im more sexy and personable...only to realize when i sober up that i should be embarassed for myself...i feel like everyone is staring at me stumbling around and looking retarded on stage...granted my profession may not garner a lot of respect but its MUCH worse when your a "dumb drunk stripper"....ive driven home drunk, made no money, fallen on the floor and stage, fucked up lapdances, lost my contacts, shoes, clothes and respect of friends.....bad bad bad...one irish coffee, wine or shot is all i can handle
I don't think im gonna drink at work anymore, not only because i come from a family of alcoholics and it could be a problem, but i promised myself that if i couldnt do my job perfectly and with no help sober then i would quit for my own sake.....
sorry that was so long i just felt like ranting

I drink every night, but I do no drugs at all.... So I work better? Sure, I am more confident than I would be without drinking, I don't drive either and never will... I think everyone makes their own choices how they handle this job.. I don't get anrgy or sloppy when I driunk, but I def. feel that I need it to work. Is that awful? I don't really care, I have been dancing for nearly 5 years and don't over drink at work, but I still have a few before and during...
People can make their own response to that, but why should we judge anyone? It's legal and I am a lotmore confortable talking to men I normally would run away from if they touched me.
It's a job, I enjoy it sometimes and sometimes I don't, but that's the life of every job.

doesn't alchohol cause weight gain? if you drink you much you might get a little belly. (i don't know if liquor does cause weight gain though...)

I think we burn up a lot of the alcohol when we're dancing.... As for a belly, I do pilates to make sure I don't get a belly... I don't think liquor has the same amount of calories that beer does, plus girlie drinks have TONS of sugar so they don't help the body too much either.

I like a drink only if the guy buys it, then I loosen up slightly. If I tell him his drink made me woozy. (they love to hear this) I then ask him if he wants a private dance? 90% success rate. act tipsy it works!!!!!

I only drink when the customer (read: customer) buys me one. A patron cannot buy me one - they must have purchased a private/lap dance from me (or at least be on the way to one given by me) in order for me to say YES. I then only order vodka, lime and soda. I then take a few sips to show I am consuming it.... yet the sipping is small and I don't take that many... then I go out back... and dump the drink.

I really really dislike drinking whilst working. I like to work sober. There have only been a few rare occasions where I wanted a drink to get me through the night/shift.

I used to drink at work, sometimes very little, sometimes alot depending on the situation. When I worked a club with heavy emphasis on vip room and champagne sales (at one club we got more money for selling expensive champagne) I drank more, obviously. It was part of the hustle. At most clubs though, I tended to limit my drinking to 3 drinks per night and concentrate on selling. I would never refuse a drink if customer offered (some clubs fine you for that) so I'd sip very little and dump most of it.

For the last year though, I've gotten used to not drinking at all at work, and I like it much better. Now I rarely even take a sip, I've changed my hustle so I'm rarely offered drinks and if so I get soda. Only time I drink at work now is if I'm in a vip, which is rare because of the setup where I work - I concentrate on selling lapdances.

I am not shy at all when it comes to approaching customers and I've found I'm actually more friendly and upbeat when I'm sober, and I can deal with negativity better (to a point). I get more goofy when drinking but also more likely to say something bitchy in response to stupid customer antics. I have better self-control while sober.

I'll run to the bar every now and then to get a coke or water, and carry it around with me all night. I do better sober because I stay more focused. It's definitely better to NOT get used to drinking at work, because you shouldn't get in the position of needing it to function, and you'll be more profitable overall if you don't let tipsyness blur your focus and cause you to linger too long before asking for dances or other such nonsense.

I hardly drink outside of work either, so now I notice that I really feel kinda crappy the day after even having a small amount of alcohol. You seriously don't realize what the stuff does to you until you stop consuming it

IMO alcohol is an occasional tool, a sometimes crutch, an accessorizing prop and a stress-saving device- all varying on situation. I used to be a teetotaler at work; we don't work drink hustle, I wasn't about to spend my own money on booze during working hours and a customer's money was better spent in my garter. Alcohol can, however, be just another part of the dancer's look, SS or hustle. As Jenny pointed out, sometimes nothing works so well on the young party guys than to slap your palm on the counter and start calling for shots all around. Draping yourself over the arm of an older businessman with a martini glass is good advertising (and ad companies do it all the time to sell liquor, so you know it works). I shared a positively dreadful chardonnay with a fellow last night because 1) he wanted me to and 2) I hadn't yet drained his wallet to my satisfaction. And good lord, Velvet may yet sell me on Jagerbombs to cure my habitual fits of 10PM yawning. A bad attitude from just one too many offensive customers is a surefire way to ensure you will make no money at all, and a couple of drinks with a fun customer is a standby antidote. Still, I'm not much of a drinker- more of the wine with dinner type- and telling this to customers is often good SS in its own right.

You've got problems when a hangover cure is part of your usual getting ready for work routine, you can't drive home after work or you allow it to affect your money. As long as one can be an adult about it, I see no issues. Americans can be so prissy about alcohol sometimes.

I only drink if I’m working night shift.. the atmosphere is more tolerable, but ONLY a couple. I’ve never been drunk at work, that would be ridiculous! !

I don't drink on the job! I'm such a lightweight that I'd be scared that I might yack on someone. I had a drink one time at work..and I remember being so spacey and I almost got sick (redbull-vodka) I had the spins..I hid out and sat by myself and watched the girls do thier stage. I waited for a good while to come out of it..and then I check out and went home. I never encourage anyone to drink or get liquid courage....we all have courage just walking in the club!

I started off making more money when I drank at work, about 2 years ago, because I was more social, smiled more, and was just in general in a nore bubbly mood! However, I soon built a tolerance, and I soon started relying on alchohol to get me through the night and make money. Sometimes, though, no matter how nice you are to customers, they still prefer someone else, or they still just don't feel like getting dances. In this case, I would start to feel bad and drink more. I drove home drunk more often than I remember, and I was just a danger to myself and to others. It was horrible. Once, I even pass out in front of the manager's office and had to be taken home by another manager! How unprofessional of me!!

I stopped drinking ANYTHING while dancing for awhile. Recently, I started drinking a LITTLE again, though. I never drink less than 1 drink (because I will only become very lethargic) and I never drink more than 3 drinks, though.

I think drinking in moderation is ok at work.

oh yeah, i'm sure i also lost money when i used to get trashed at work, too...not a good thing. at the time, however, i didn't care.

I am actually too afraid to drink at work now. I have already gotten 1 DWI, and do not wish to have another. Most of the drinks I am used to have at least 3 oz. of alchohol in them. They say that 1 oz is equivalent to one drink. So if I have 3 "drinks" throughout the night, I really am having 9 shots of alchohol...

I want to explore this, once I'm 21. I think it does make a difference in my money, as drinking juice or water is so 'boring' or they become reminded of how young I am. It's kind of like the "I have a SO" thing, it makes me less desirable. Not saying it'll kill EVERY sale or anything, there are some guys that sympathize and are proud of my non-drinking, but I think anything that works against you in general should be avoided.

I feel like Im out having a good time and customers can see that and want to have a part of it..But now I limit my drinks.
