    Default anyone use invisalign????

Has anyone on the site used invisialign to straighten their teeth? I've always said the thing i hated most is the gaps in my teeth and I decided I want to get them fixed. If anyone can tell mehow it worked I'd appreciate it. Also, I know everyone's case is different but I'd like to know how much anyone paid, don't want to get ripped off.

yup i had invisalign. well- first i had braces. i didnt wear my retainer. 4 years later, my teeth were crooked again...got invisalign, wore them for a year and my teeth are straight again...this time i'm wearing the friggin retainer at night!! i think i paid like 6,000. how it works is you go in, the Doc tells you if your case can be fixed using invisalign. if it can, they take molds. then you get a series of aligners that you change every 2 weeks that gradually straighten your teeth, millimeter by millimeter. it really does work though..but it cant fix over/underbites and it cant be used in all cases.

sounds like 6 k is a rip off to me.
i know someone who improved her upper teeth (10) with veneers for that amount, and now they look perfect.

if you only have a few small gaps.. bonding may work as well. and that is way cheaper then anything else.

my xbf had invisaline and it made him have this ridiculous lisp... not to mention how gross it was watching him take it out right before he ate.

i mean, if your teeth are perfect besides the gaps, (and more then bonding can fix) id do invisaline.. but go to a dentist first and make sure you keep your otions open.

i had braces and they cost i think 4k (clear) but i had them taken off too early and didnt wear my retainer.
whatever you decide to do .. follow through with it.. My teeth would have been perfect now if i did

I had a recent consult in DC for Invisalign to fix my slight overbite and was told that it can in fact fix under/overbites. My estimate was 5K for 1 year. If only I hadn't lost my retainer a year ago!

I'd get clear braces but I'm really afraid of it affecting my money at work. It wouldn't seem like you could really see Invisalign too much in your typical SC "mood" lighting.

Cosmetic dentistry is never covered under insurance unless it's to fix damage from a car accident or something.

I spent $12,500 correcting my smile and it was worth every penny. I absolutely make more money at work. I can't tell how much, but they will definitely pay for themselves in a year.

I attached a before and after picture. This isn't invisalign, but are porcelain veneers that were mentioned earlier.

My estimate was without insurance. Also, my front teeth are a bit large, but all my teeth are in good condition, so veneers would be overkill for me.

BTW Emily, your veneers look fantastic!

thanks girls....I never realized how important nice, clean, straight teeth were until I had them. They subconciously signal health and good hygiene, which of course, is important in our business. Invisalign can be good, but if you had teeth like mine (stained, misaligned, crowded, chipped, just plain BLECH!), veneers are great! The dentist removes a lot of your real enamel, and he must be very skilled not to screw anything up. I've heard bad stories of people have constant headaches because their bite was misaligned or sensitivity every time they put something hot or cold in their mouth.

Gosh, every time I look at my "before" picture, I can't believe that was me. It kind of gives me the creeps!

    Thanks ladies,
My insurance actually does cover 20% of braces and cosmetics...I just hope they have a payment plan.
Veneers would be way too much for me because I have perfect straight white teeth, there are just these stupid stupid gaps in between my top teeth. I guess my mom was right all those years, I do have a big mouth ;oP
By the way, Emily, your teeth look amazing! It was money well spent.

molly, ask your dentist about bonding.. i think it will help if you only have a few gaps.
