Default MAC makeup discount

I was just going to post this in the makeup thread, but just so no one misses this very inportant bit of information:

I just called MAC. They do give a 30% discount to entertainers. All you have to do is get a letter stating you're an entertainer at the club (on compnay letterhead) and a photocopy of your contract with the club. Then you go to your local MAC store and fill out an application. You get your card in 4-6 weeks.

The card is only good at MAC stores, not stores that just sell MAC products like Sephora or whatever. But you can buy stuff with the discount by calling their 1-800 number if you're nowhere near a MAC store.

Ain't that great? MAC products are fabulous, and with a 30% discount, well, you just can't beat that at all.

No, they said the discount card cannot be used online (though I have no idea why). But you can pick out what you want online and call their 1-800 number and buy the stuff that way.

Thanks so much for this info! This ROCKS!!!!
Though I know WHY they woulnt allow it online. Cause then "everyone" wopuld be able to use it. lol
Like our mothers, sisters, friends, etc
All in all, I dont mind going to MAC and getting my makeup reduced by 30%. Hell, I didnt mind paying full price so this rocks!

I have known about this for a while but have always been to lazy to send off to get the card...then last week I was at Caesers and I had to go to the Pro store (there are only 2 in the country!!!!!!!!) and I loaded up on everything...they brought up the discount and said they could do it for me with my sherriffs card and business license right there!! My bill went from $715.00 to only $500.69 !!!!!!!!! An amazing thing this card is!!!!!!!!!!!

They don't allow you to use it online to make sure that you are not giving your discount to others. That's why you have to call it in. LOL Hmmmm...

Anywho, I have my discount card and I use it regularly. They should have Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum discount cards, they more you spend then the higher your discount goes (20, 25, 30, 35%). That would be cool.

I think I found something I have always been looking for, I stumbled across a site a few weeks ago that teaches makeup for free. I just ordered a shadow and 1 gloss to try it out. They have some really funky colors, I would have to say as cool as MAC, and I applied for a pro discount online and was approved within one day for 30% off, no questions asked. I don't know if I can refer the website to the rest of the girls without getting in trouble, but if nothing else it has really cool step by step makeovers for free to learn form. I just thought everyone would like to know. I suck at doing my makeup so this may be a big help for everyone else like me. The site is , I never heard of the makeup before but I will let you all know how it is.

I can't believe I forgot to mention MAC's recycling program. Turn in 6 empty plastic containers and you get a free lipstick. So save your empty studio fix/tech compacts, blush pots etc.

with pigments so vivid

your eyes shine like diamonds
your lips like a cherry!

OK I'm officially a weirdo. In addition to the discount and recycling program, it's what alot of professionals use. Hence the name M-A-C (makeup artist cosmetics)

OK, I finally got my makeup from that site, IT ROCKS. The makeup I guess is new but I must say it (DARE I SAY IT) is as good as my MAC but twice the size and the same price. I only tried one of the glosses but the color is so true for the stuff I got. I think I'm hooked. The shadows looked the same on me as they did in the pictures on the site. The site is listed on my last post,

Gynger...

MAC makeup doesn't come off easily. It's stage makeup that is made for meeting the high demands of performers. My eye shadow, MAC, looks as good at the end of a busy night as it did when I put it on. Any other eye shadow will be gone.

I am a little miffed at MAC though...seems lately that I just cannot find any makeup worth keeping now...definitely going to check out the site traci mentioned.

Gynger,
I've been using MAC for a few years now and you will never ever want to switch makeup companies again! My cousin who's a proffesional makeup artist introduced me to it, she gets a 50% discount card the lucky chicky!!!!! (For being a top level makeup artist)
Does anyone else here use Studio fix as part of/all of thier base? It has saved my life more times than I can count! At 25 dollars a pop, it seems pricey...but I use that and some concealer for every day makeup and i'm set. Also for all the blondes/brunettes with light skin tones reading this, the lipglass colour called pink lemonade would be awesome for onstage on top of lipstick!
Anyways, hopefully that answers your question Gynger...I wish everyone knew about MAC <sigh>

Hi Tiff,
I agree make is great, but the stuff I just got is as good if not a little better, and cheaper. I hate studio fix, it looks like clay on your face after on retouch. As a matter of a fact, I can't stand all their foundations, never been a big fan. HEY GINGER, did you look at that other site? What did you think, they just added howto's on foundation and concealing. I am ordering more stuff from them this weekend, I'll let you know how it is.

I need to figure out a color for a foundation... going into the store today to buy.. I did buy two things the other day-I didn't have time to test out foundations.. I bought a lipliner pencil in plum that is AWESOME and a lipgloss in the color "desire" which I have to say girls, you are all right about this brand. I was very impressed.. Can't wait to see what the foundation and some of the other things I want to get will do-I'm hard to match though.. I'm very very light, but I have been tanning and sometimes its hard to match me to a nice color for a foundation.. we will have to see what they come up with. I did see the site and will probably order a couple of things from there as I did notice that the colors for the lip liner and the pencil I bought were EXACTLY the same on me as they were in the tube.

One of the girls at my club has 4 kids and SWEARS by studio fix. She says that without it she is lost. I don't have issues with dark under eye circles, but when she comes in without makeup hers are very very noticable, she puts on her makeup and presto.. no more "bags", truly amazing.

Thanks ladies.. again, you are all superb!

UPDATE at 4:21 PM MST: Okay, I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing, I spent $200 today! I am very impressed. I had the girl do my makeup at the counter, I bought everything she used plus some darker shadows for nighttime and a hot hot lipstick that looks fab on me- called "O".

Studio Fix isn't made to be retouched often. If it's shine that's a problem you need to blot it either with blotting tissues or a square of toilet paper. Also, MAC sells a blotting powder. So, Studio Fix is not like a Revlon pressed powder that you constantly reapply. That's probably why your face looks like clay after one retouch.

HEY GINGER, did you look at that other site? What did you think, they just added howto's on foundation and concealing. I am ordering more stuff from them this weekend, I'll let you know how it is.
Traci, if that's your site, that's cool. I know I like learning new tips and experimenting with different products. But I think it's funny how you keep pushing and pushing this site and basically saying how MAC is no good when all these girls on here are saying how it rocks. At least be real. Why do you keep plugging this MAC knockoff site?

Tiff, to answer your question (soooo cool btw your cousin has a 50% off discount) I use my foundation brush to apply concealer (the cake pot, not the cream tube) under my eyes, over any blemishes, basically even out any blotchiness, then I take a big fluffy brush and swirl it over my studio fix and dust that on my face. I like the way it looks especially in the daytime. Very natural looking yet still lots of coverage.

Also I wanted to mention to studio fix girls don't forget to change your sponges frequently. THAT's mostly what contributes to breakouts, not the product itself.

welcome to the mac fanclub gynger!

And if any members buy products from the site Traci mentioned, I'm certainly interested in hearing how the 2 compare.

Are you serious? I think everyone should check out that site. If I didn't know better I would think you worked for MAC. I love MAC and have used it for years, but just thought I would let you guys know about this site. My bad, which counter do you work at?

Damn, I just spent $50 on Mac stuff at Nordstrom last weekend.

So the dept stores won't honor the discount, just the Mac store right? I know they have one in Houston and Vegas.

Is that true, if I show my business license and sheriffs card at the Mac store that will replace the need for a club letter?

Do you get the 30% off the same day you fill out the app?

No...you need to fill out a Discount Request Sheet. Send in all of the information that you have supporting that you are an entertainer, send a check for $35 and wait for 6-8 weeks for an answer. Then, you can only use your discount at MAC stores and on the phone (not at counters or online). It comes in handy...

Yeah, I am serious. And I wasn't even being a bitch unlike you with your "counter comment." I genuinely want to know how other members compared the two (I say OTHER members because frankly the only contribution you've made to our stripper board is mac knockoff mac knockoff mac knockoff oh yeah did I mention mac knockoff?) I think it's really cool that you're sharing an alternative so no need to get your panties in a bunch.

Tina, yeah, you can get an application at the mac store or try calling 877-553-5536. For some reason I think they said something about faxing your info is an option? Maybe I'm thinking of something else not sure.

When I get back to Vegas in 3 weeks I will go to the Mac store at Caesars Forum like Tori Baltimore did with my sheriffs card and business license in hand if they can process everything in the store.

Gosh, I spent about $110 on Mac stuff over the last 7 weeks. 30% off would fill the tank with $2.00 a gallon gas. I already recycle my containers for lipstick.

Thanks for sharing this info Miss George. It's MUCH appreciated.
