    Default I hate the Media!

I am so annoyed at how the media treats the striping industry. I was watching the today show and they were talking about how it is Times Square is having it's 100th birthday this year and they kind of did like an old timeline on it. Well it is so annoying how the media portrays adult entertainment as like all low lifes and prostitution. But yet dancing girls and burlesque shows are talked about like it is naugthy but oh so cute back in the 20's and 30's. I have seen several newscasts like this whenever they are talking about exotic dancers and the old days they talk about it like it was so cute or something and they portray exotic dancers of today like they are brothels and disgusting. This is such a double standard. Katie Corraic was talking to the mayor of New York was asking how they plan to continue to keep Times Square family friendly and all this stuff as opposed to the peep shows and strip clubs of the seventies from reappearing. It is just really annoying! Why does adult entertainment have to be so looked down upon but yet when they talk about the good ol' days of Burlesque it is not given the same disgust from the Media. And why does every city have to be promoting Family Friendly stuff all the time? Can't they promote stuff for families and adults to sell to both markets it is like they all want to rid themsevles as assosicating them from adult pastimes. Well probably Las Vegas but they even did the Family Friendly thing in the Ninties. I don't know if I articulated myself very well in this post I just wanted to rant!!!LOL

Media sucks. They always use negative over positive. People would much rather here about something perverted as to nice and cute. So they air that and add on the scare tactics ( gun violence, murder, theft, etc) and they have a great American show. Sad but true.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again: The media can kiss my ass. If they put us in a bad light, then they must do it to others, past and present. I try not to judge based on hearsay. They do what they do to make a dollar.

You know what though? It's a double-edged sword... and in some ways, you should be thanking them.

By keeping the adult entertainment industry "taboo" or otherwise tawdry in appearances, it increases it's marketability 10 fold. The old days of Burlesque never afforded the entertainers of the era the kinds of earnings comparitively as strippers make today. Variety acts usually made the same or MORE without any nudity or similar.

If you look at Europe as a model, where nudity/stripclubs are same ole, same ole by their media and culture, the dancers there don't make SQUAT for nudity/stripping, and can only scratch together a good living through heavier contact and prostitution.

I believe this is one of the main driving forces behind why you wont see prostitution decriminalized or legalized largescale- it will knock prostitution down to the level where current stripclubs live, and strippers/dancers would be reduced to Walmart-like earnings over time. Mafia and politicians know this and don't want to see their niche, "taboo" market impeded by large scale, public acceptance.

The bottom line is- the customers spending money on you obviously don't feel this way, so take the money and laugh all the way to the bank! If you're going to try to pin the media on the women-hating creeps that go to stripclubs to be assholes or denounce any woman who strips as a "whore", you give the media too much credit... these kinds of people just need to get their ya-ya's out on someone and strippers make a convenient target regardless.
It doesn't matter if you're somebody in this world, it rather matters you mean the whole world to somebody.
