    Default Clubs in LA

I've only been a dancer since September (at the Bare Elegance) but now that it's been bought by somebody new, I want to find a new club. I wasn't making much money over there anyway.

So if anyone could help me and tell me some good (clean!!!) clubs in LA county that allow 19-year-olds to work that would be great. Heh, I need to find one soon ...

As you are 19, you can't legally work in any of the topless clubs.

Clean? The Jet Strip is probably the cleanest club, and clubs like Score and 4Play are also pretty much low mileage, too (though some dancers can be pretty nasty in their laps).

Any club in OC is pretty much zero mileage, but I don't know what your commute would be to those facilities.

Haha, are you kidding? The Jet Strip is one of the dirtiest clubs around. It used to be the Bare Elegance's sister club. I'll check out the Score. Thanks.

If you think the Jet is dirty, then stay far, far away from the City of Industry clubs. The Jet Strip is a Christain Science reading room compared to SRI, Hawaii, Sahara and the Paradise. :o

Score's biggest problems are a lack of customers: parking is horrible and the commercial neighborhood it is in does not lend itself to nice, middle class, middle aged white boys like me going there.

I'm just operating on what I've heard ...

Is the Score that bad? I'll probably end up at 4play but I'm interested in other clubs too.

The interior of Score is quite nice: spacious, good stage, minimal drink push, large lapdance areas.

There are literally 8 paking spots in front of the club; those are valet only. Everyone else has to either drive past the club and then turn right twice to park on the industrial street just to the NE of the club, or on the main drag south of the club. I have no idea where the dancers park, but I hope to g-d they always have an escort to and fro.

4play's rep is all look and no touch, so this might be the best club for your purposes. Remember, though, come July, ALL bets are off in LA, so expect more changes to come.

July is the cutoff date for clubs in the CITY of Los Angeles to have completed their remodeling in compliance with the new lapdances laws stupidly negotiated between the club owners and the city council.

There is probably going to be a full scale migration of dancers from clubs like Deja Vu North Hollywood to to other clubs throughoout the southland, as VIP rooms (the real moneymaker) are eliminated. I've already been contacted by at least a half dozen dancers from affected clubs asking my opinion about what club to go to. There's a lot of uncertainty out there at the moment.

I have been working on preparing to start my stripping career, I would like to know what place is good to start out at for a new girl. I would like to start at a club in my general area (silverlake) but if there is one that is better than others I might consider the commute. I have been wondering about Tulips or Gentleman's club. Any other bits of info, such as audition nights etc. would be so helpful.
    Thanks,

Eliza, I've been to 4Play and it's a tame club. The girls are better looking than average and the interior is nicer than your standard club. It's tamer and more tasteful than a Spearmint Rhino. Plus, it's Westside and I think there's more money'd customers around than the SFV.

It's a different crowd too. Guys aren't looking for 'mileage', as there is none. At least that I know of. The Valley clubs I've been to offer more 'mileage'. Girls straight up offer it. I think it's competitive.

My only experience in the City of Industry was mildly surprising. Spearmint Rhino. Big hustle, lots of 'high mileage'. Like the guy above said.

I called 4Play and they said that the only way to get hired was if you placed in their amateur contest on Tuesday nights. I don't have implants, so I don't really think I'll be able to work there. That sort of sucks! I hate amateur contests!

VIP Showgirls in NoHo is always looking for new talent and they're not very picky and fairly low mileage, even with their VIP room.

PS to kookoo: Tulips has had three owners in 4 years; The Gentleman's Club is rumored to be considering changing into a sports bar. Consider yourself warned.

I personally wouldn't bother with VIP showgirls in NoHlywd either I worked there for awhile and the sound of "crickets" is deafing! There is no house fee at this time, which could work out for you if you live this way. Its a very nice club, but just no customers. It also got raided last Oct for the "supposed lap dance ban" I think this made it bad for the club. The other clubs in the Valley aren't going to be that much different... This is just my opinion. None of the LA clubs are getting much business. If this remodeling thing goes through after July, "crickets" will be heard all over, except OC clubs.

So I guess that this isn't the best time to start a career in the dancing business right now? Is business this bad all over? I want to have a good attitude and start on the right foot but if things are like this right now maybe I should wait until the economy and the laws are better? Any suggestions?

Most of the girls there don't have implants. I didn't want to make the club out to be more than it is. Not all the girls are drop dead gorgeous. There is definately a mix. I think point is there are some very good looking prototypical strippers there and they don't have to offer high mileage.

Again, the customers are different at 4Play. I might be talking out my ass and completely wrong, but I think some of the mileage hounds are substituting high mileage for sex. Or at least along that line. Just my oppinion. That isn't done at 4Play. You can actually get something to eat there and watch the Laker game on TV.

Since I don't get out to the left coast very often, let me ask ...

What's the actual status of the LA lap dance ordinance ? Has it actually been accepted by the clubowners to the point that they will be doing away with lap dances entirely this coming July ?

What's the status of City of Industry and OC clubs ? I would imagine that lots of LA dancers have decided to make the move early in order to beat the "panic rush" which is likely to occur in July when LA club earnings potential drops off the map ? Are mileage expectations in City of Industry clubs as high as ever ? Are City of Industry clubs starting to get overwhelmed with LA dancers such that it's getting difficult for an "average" dancer to be hired ?

    Briefly:

The original lapdance ordinance as passed by the LA City Council and was supposed to go into effect last October was held in abeyance when the strip club owners managed to collect enough signatures to put the entire issue to a referendum by the people of LA.

When that happened, the City Council faced three options: 1) Back off entirely (not going to happen if you know the back story of at least two of the council members); 2) hold an immediate vote in March, at a cost of $2.3 million; or, 3) Put the issue on the ballot for March 2004, LA's next regularly scheduled election cycle.

For reasons that have never been fully explained (well enough to suit me, at least), the SC owners negotiated a quick settlement with the city council--they (the SC owners) would give up the lucrative VIP rooms (the main bone of contention for the council) and the council would give up the ludicrous 6 foot rule (which would have put the clubs effectively out of business).

Since that time it has been business as usual, though gals who dance in clubs that are affected by the rules change are concerned and making, at the least, backup plans for life after July 1.

Some are retiring, some are already leaving, and some are taking a "wait and see" attitude. Probably the club most heavily affected by this transition is Deja Vu North Hollywood, ground zero for private laps and home of the $100 1/2 hour private bed dance, the greatest value in the history of strip clubbing, and a major source of income for Vu girls. The curtains are coming down and all laps will have to be in the open, so the Vu, which is a mid-level contact club, is really under a microscope.

As for CoI clubs (which are in LA County, not the city), it's business as usual. I regularly go to my home club, Spearmint Rhino, and there is no appreciable difference in the quality or interactivity of the laps before and after this ordinance was announced. I have not seen an influx of new girls from other clubs trying to beat the traffic out of LA, although I have been contacted by a number of dancers asking my opinion of which club there might work best for them.

There is a glut of clubs as it is, so getting hired at most places still isn't a problem. Although you don't want to hear this, there is no such thing as too many dancers at a club. Guys like me who go to these clubs go there to see and be with beautiful young women, not to watch empty stages, drink $5 watered down Cokes or try and catch ESPN Sportscenter on the TV over the bar. If there are more girls in a club, we come back more often and spend more money and buy more laps; if there are fewer, we come back less often and spend less. A classic chicken and egg concept.

Hope this answers your questions, Melonie. Your friends at that "other" site miss you, btw.

Thanks Chili - although to be honest I'm surprised that more LA dancers aren't already heading for the suburban clubs.

It is surprising, but I think the tipouts and drink push that exist at CoI clubs have a lot to do with gals staying put, at least for now. I think the girls will wait to see just how much their income is going to drop (if any) once the VIPs are eliminated, and then make their choices.

Fortunately, my top clubs are not affected, so the point is moot from my viewpoint. Mileage still high to very high, and I'm fielding A LOT more offers for private 1-on-1 shows now, too.
