I think that we should all be making millions for what we do for a living, however, that isnt the case with me... If my dj ends up walking out with 3 times more than me, then good for him, then he did his job well. I know that dj's everywhere work alot harder than I do, how many dancers have 10 girls bitching at them, 5 requesting their music, 2 that want to see the stage list and 1 manager that is reminding them to advertise about specials and promos?Originally Posted by Mariah link=board=27;threadid=8072;start=msg95861#msg9586 1 date=1081807067
Probably none, which is exactly why the dj should make as much, if not more than alot of girls, providing his job is done.
It depends on the DJ and the club. I give my money to who works for me, but I usually end up playing favorites with the two weekend DJs. I tip them different amounts and I don't tip them in front of each other. If you wait until the end of the nite to put me onstage and then grumble that you leave at three so can you get your tipout, yeah $7 coming your way and I dare you to give me an ugly look to my face. Frown when I walk off and call me a bitch behind my back.
At the end of the nite when it takes the club forever to give my customer a funny money cash advance and there's 15-20 minutes left, don't decide that this is the nite you wanna close early b/c its just us. I had a DJ do that to me b/c he was upset and I had one do it b/c he was tired. Both nites either the bouncer or manager turned the music back on and both nites either bouncer or manager got at least $100 from me. Hope you made enough during the nite not to need my money b/c I don't forget moves like that and I will hold it against you.

It's different all over. Where I am now, we are supposed to tip 10% to the general tip pot which is divided among bouncers, bar, DJ and manager. Most girls will tip the DJ a few bucks extra, depending on how he does, etc. Going rate for the good DJ is $10, between $5 and $10 for a crappy night or cheaper girls. The other DJ gets less, because he doesn't do as good a job and the girls lose money as a result. Our tipout is low because we're already 'tipping' the 10% to staff.
I've worked in clubs where there was a standard 'tip' for DJ, bouncers, etc. Usually in the neigborhood of $10-$20. I've worked in some where if you didn't want to go on stage you just handed the DJ $20 at the beginning of shift to 'forget' to put your name on the list. I've worked in some where you were supposed to tip a % to DJ, but I never knew of anyone actually tipping that much, that is a ridiculous amount to tip DJ on top of house fees and other tipouts.
I think if you made $700, $40 is a reasonable tip for DJ. Depending on the rest of the system, a $10-$20 minimum would be appropriate I think. Taking an educated guess at your situation and average earnings, I think I'd always tip him $20, less if he did a shit job or I made less than $200, more if I made $500+.
Yes and I put them to work immediately!MuahahahahahaOriginally Posted by audioslave2 link=board=27;threadid=8072;start=msg96215#msg9621 5 date=1081850902

At every club I've ever worked at with a DJ, the tip has been a $10 minimum. That's usually what I tip. I've tipped $15 or $20 maybe a dozen times, ever, but never any more than that.
I've also worked at a few neighborhood places with jukeboxes. Even Camelot in DC, widely thought to be the best club in the city, has a jukebox.

The club I work at now is a small upscale topless club our tipout is $28 dollars that's it. If we choose to tip the DJ or bouncers...then great but it isnt mandatory.
I tip the DJ $5-20 dollars..., He's a great DJ, but he doesnt really do anything out of the norm.
What are things that DJ's do that ARE out of the norm for good tippers??? Our DJ likes suggestions and I cant really think of anything off the top of my head.
Oh and do you ladies tip waitresses and bouncers even if you dont receive services from them??? Thanks
I tip everyone, trust me, if makes a world of difference, even if its small amounts. I only tip a waitress if she has been very attentive to me on a high spending tab.
I just want to take the time to thank our resident DJs and all cool SC DJ's.....I have never met a bad one. They have always been a friend and an advocate for me. Once DJ even got a waitress fired for me at Ricks when she would not stop extorting money for me just because she sold drinks at tables I was sitting at, making my work hell....
Another great DJ always played techno-arabic music for me and let me do a bellydance show, which always got me big stage tips (rare in houston) and several customrs. When new management changed our format to be more conservative, he fought for me, and they let me keep doing my show as long as it was before 7.
When the crowd is dead and ain't tipping...my DJ's would come to the stage and shower me with their own cash.....
I can always talk to the DJ and leave the booth smiling...
To all the ballas SC DJ's, I salute you for making my life fun!!!![]()
