    Default Short Breaks from Work

Hey ladies... I took4 consecutive days off of work this week and when I went back yesterday I had the hardest time! It was almost as if it was my first time ever dancing at all... my muscles are all sore, I didn't make as much money, didn't want to talk to the guys, and I felt lazy and sluggish... but when I work constantly (I normally take no more than 1 day off at a time), this doesn't happen. I don't think I'll do that again!

How long have you been dancing? I've been in the business three years next week. I usually do my best after returning from a break or a vacation. I have alot more energy and am usually happier. I feel like I could use a break right about now!

    I'm w/MacKenzie

I find that I too operate at my best when I return to work as I'm much more relaxed... less stressed.. and hence don't put too much pressure on myself. I'm one of those dancers who does not get depressed because she isn't at work.

I like my work and do want to do it for the next 5 years (as planned) yet I also enjoy my well earned time off.

I am usually a much, much nicer stripper if i am returning from a break. If i am at work more than 4 days in a row i am not a friendly stripper!

I've found the same thing to be true... if I work alot, I get into some sort of groove or something and everything at work is good, but after taking a break, I am more lazy and don't work as hard.

I take four consective days off every week!! After three days in a row of dancing I need the rest. Don't you think you are working a little too much?? You might do better if you hustle and sell your ass off on the weekend and then have time to rest up and be fresh for next week. That's what I do and my earnings are excellent (well most of the time ). Rest up sweetie!

"Burning yourself out" by being immersed in the club scene 5-6 nights every week is a real risk factor. This is particularly true if you work in an area where earnings potential is disappointing, where you have to deal with high contact, where customers are asking for 'extras' etc. This is even more true if there is political/financial stress at the club i.e. taking a bust risk by bending local anti-dance club laws in order to earn decent money, club management or dressing room intrigue etc. Similar to cops, dancers in this sort of environment tend to see the "worst" elements of the exotic dancing business day after day, which can eventually lead to a bad attitude, depression etc.

In my own case I never dance live more than 2 long weekends a month or one full week a month. In the meantime I do other things like webcam and modeling which are nowhere near as demanding as live dancing from a psychological standpoint.
