I have been doing some soul searching lately. I was trying to find my next career when I am done dancing, and of course looked to my past for clues as to what I wanted to do when I gave up stripping. I have found this very hard as I am not well suited for employment. I held 30+ jobs before I ever hit the stage, and the job I kept the longest involved me putting my hands all over strange men (tuxedo rental company, fittings for the tuxes etc.). I sold/ rented tuxedos for over 4 years and really liked doing that, but it is retail, and the pay isn't very good.
So the decision I made was to keep dancing. I LOVE it. I am passionate about my work, and my worst day dancing is better than my best day as a grocery clerk, or at an office job. I HATED those kind of jobs, and would come home at least once a week in tears because those jobs were so awful for my personality type.
So, long story longer, I am going to keep dancing until I am done. I have no desire to quit, I want to continue as long as possible with this career because I really do love it. I am currently saving for plastic surgery so that I can fight aging as best as possible, I just plunked down almost $1000 to hire a personal trainer to make me exersize and eat right, I even gave up my occasional cigarette and pot smoking habits.
I am in a position that allows me to do this as I am married, and my husband is good guy who is also a hard worker. So if something should happen to one of us (broken leg etc.) the other can keep working to support the family.
Is there anyone else here who has considered making dancing their main career? I have met one other person who began dancing at 18 and is still doing it 20 years later. He is a very nice guy and I have seen him dance a few times, and he is very good at his job. He not only dances, but he manages the tour group of male strippers that he performs in!
I think maybe Melonie might fall into the career catagory, and possibly Pamela and Bridgette. Anyone else considered this path, too?

I wish I had more freedom to travel and do what you are doing..but 4 children is a lot to stuff in a suit case. lol..Your gorgeous and should do what makes you feel worthwhile..I have worked in stuffy offices too and jobs that are not fullfilling to me..sounds like we have the same personality type..lol...I wish you the best of luck with your choice of sticking in there. I don't care what anyone say's..Being a dancer is the toughest job out there..emotionally and physically. Takes gut's to stay in the biz!!
