Default i feel my goal slipping!

    Hey All,

Okay we all know how I am still trying to lose another 25-30 lbs before i do my amature night.

Well today this morning I had a very bad day. I went to the gym and didn't really work out. My body is tired I twisted my ankle yesturday from jumping rope, I cheated on my diet today. I came on here today and some girl who was like 100lbs said she was to fat to be a dancer go figure LOL! Well i am 5'4is and about 150ish.

I just have a few problem areas. I have this deadline in my head by Mid June or July I want to try out for Amature Night. But it seems like my goal is just so far away from me.

I don't know what I am asking for I just needed to vent. I don't really have to many girlfriends out here I only been here for a few months I am from Puerto Rico.

    Thanks,
    Honey

Awww hun dont give up.... even if its not for amateur night, I think the weight loss would be good for you.
I know how hard it is to NOT cheat, especially when you are hispanic. LOL My family is from spain and cuba and I was at my heaviest when I lived at home... chuletas, rice and beans....DAMN!!!!! yummmmmy
    heheh
So dont give up....work out (do cardio for about 45 min a day at FAT BURN level) and you should start to see the lbs drop. Also eat healthy and you'll drop too.
Its possible, its just not easy work, but if you want that goal, you can reach it. (Damn the cheerleader in me is coming out ) ahahah
    Good luck!

    Hi honey,

If you twisted your ankle, you shouldn't be pushing yourself too hard anyway. Give yourself time to heal. I've been in the same boat as you where I try to eat healthy and work out, and then I have a day or two where I eat too much McDonald's or Burger King and I don't exercise. Sometimes I feel like saying "Screw it, I already fucked up, so why bother trying to eat healthy?" But it's so true that the longer you go eating junk food and not working out, the harder it is to get back into a healthy lifestyle. Exercise is habit-forming. Once I work out 4 or 5 days a week for one or two weeks, I actually look forward to working out. I usually do my exercising first thing when I wake up; then I get it over with and I have the rest of the day to do what I want.

Don't get discouraged, you will get back into it! Everybody has their off days. :

    Aww, THANKS GUYS!

Yeah, today was a rough day and I did cheat with my diet. I haven't ever slipped up on my diet so I am just taking it kind of hard.

I love working out but since my ankle its like my body is telling me it needs to workout. I just started running a mile in the mornings and then i hit the gym in the afternoon and then run again in the evening. But today was the first day I couldn't do anything.

Its just hard cause I am doing soo good on my training and bang my ankle. I don't go out so I can get my rest, I eat super clean and believe me I hate smelling all the good smells of meat, beans, rice lol it gets me lol!

Again, thanks alot I really needed to vent and hear some good feedback!

PM me if you need more info. Also, I DID see that you twisted your ankle, so cardio might be hard to do. Sorry about the confusion.
    Hope to hear from ya!

Think about your diet and exercise as a lifestyle. If you switch up a few days it doesn't make a difference in the long run. To get back on track you should do some fun things.
A fun exercise - find a local pool and do some laps or be adventerous on a hike
A new recipe - entertain your taste buds and make something really tasty and complicated

Hun...I exercise everyday and eat healthy, and even I cheat every once in a while. Don't let that discourage you!! Everyone needs a little cheat!! Just take care of yourself and pick up where you left off. I know you sprained your ankle...does your gym have a pool?? You could always swim for cardio...

And, be realistic about your body...a lot of people I know think that they have to lose weight for the "perfect body"...but they are fine the way that they are!

You may also want to check out the following books: Body-for-Life (http://www.bodyforlife.com) and Eating-for-Life (http://www.eatingforlife.com). They are both great books and may help you stay on track. What MD says though, is true. Don't look at being on a diet and exercise program. Look at it as a new, healthy way of living.

    Hey Dahling..

Don't get discouraged. I can't name one single person who is completely happy with their body. Everyone always seems to find a flaw that they see as needing to be corrected.

In my opinion, a "perfect weight" for everyone doesn't exist. There's a perfect weight for the individual, which is absolutely attainable. You seem to be on the right track, just don't give up.

We all have our little flaws. It's what makes us human and unique in our own ways.

I wish you luck in attaining your goals. We're all here for you. Everyone here, for the most part, is great with advice, and support.

    Much Love & Hugs,
    ~Rhi~

I too had gotten up to 154 after meeting my boyfriend. He took me to a lot of Portuguese and Italian spots and convinced me not to worry about my weight. Two years later I had gone from 125 to154! :o Ahhh tiramisu... I worked out with a combination of Pilates and an elliptical machine. Also, I changed my diet. I follow the Zone eating schedule. Check it out. You can get a free menu plan from www.in2nutrtion.com

I don't mean to burst any bubbles but it is highly unlikely that you are going to lose 25-30 lbs in 3-4 months. My advice to you is to focus on getting healthy and in-shape. You would have to work out intensely and severly monitor your diet to lose so much weight in such a short amount of time. IMO you would be better off to make your goals a little more realistic. I'm not saying you couldn't do it, but the way I see it, to attain such a goal would take intense dedication.

I know that if I sit there and stare in the mirror, I am guaranteed to find flaws. However, if I go to the gym 3-5 times a week, eat healthy and avoid binging (food, alcohol, drugs, etc), I am more likely to be pleased with my reflection. Keep in mind what is important: your physical & mental well-being.

Okay, I'm going to throw a few things out at you that I know will help. First off, you need to shift your mentality about losing weight a little. Something I came across through my years of reading was that you should NEVER, EVER make it a "goal". Rather, you should make it a "plan" instead. Goals are things we usually set for ourselves that are mostly designed for us to fail. If I set a "goal" to lose 30 pounds, and I don't achieve it, it's no biggie. If I set a "plan" to lose 30 pounds, you have a different mentality about your strategy on how you are going to do it. Use better words for yourself and you'll see better results. Now, that being said, here is another technique that will make this process a LOT easier for you.

It's a system called "chunking it down". And no, I don't mean this as a new method of chewing and slallowing your food. "Chunking it down" means that you need to break down your plan in smaller details so it makes more sense as to what you are working on accomplishing. You said that you want to lose 30 pounds by mid June or July. Let's assume it's July 1st. From today, that is exactly 80 days (I counted) until your deadline. That gives you a lot to work with actually. Now, when you think that you have less than three months to lose 30 pounds, the plan seems rather daunting and so it's hard to get motivated to really do it. Watch this though...

In 80 days, you want to lose 30 pounds. That breaks down to only .375 pounds you need to lose each day. That's it! It's less that 1/2 a pound a day!!! So from now on, don't set your plan on losing 30 pounds in 3 months. Set your plan an your strategy so that all you need to focus on is losing 1/2 a pound each day. That's such a small amount when you think about it, right? There may be days that you lose only 1/4 of a pound and there will be days when you lose 1 whole pound. Still though, focus on there here-and-now, and that's only 1/2 a pound each day. Use that as your plan of attack and I KNOW you'll have those 30 pounds long gone before your Amateur Night!

    honeygymgirl:
It's great that you've set a goal for youself, but I'd like to tell you of my diet horror. I've dealt with various eating disorders since I was about 12--- and each time it started out as a reasonable diet. I started out at- at age 12- at 145 lbs, cutting back on one meal and doing some situps. I hit bottom a couple months later, at 109 lb (for my stature, you could see every bone in my body and I looked sick) and I hadn't eaten in a month. Then I went through a stage of bulimia and even though I threw up everything I ate, I went up to 155 over the next couple months. A yo-yo effect went on for the next 4 years-- I'd range between 135 and 150. When I turned 16, I got a membership to a gym and started channelling my weightloss focus there instead of at puking. I worked out so much (3 hours of cardio and 2 hours of weights 6 days a week) that I actually burned my body out and started to regress.

Need-less-to-say, I have a deep fear of dieting where goals are set at even a reasonable 30 lbs. From about 18 to 20, I lived with a guy that made me feel like I didn't have to worry about my weight, and I stopped caring. He's Mexican (so I understand the food temptations of hispanic culture) and also a great cook. When I weighed myself last November, I weighed 160!!! I decided I needed to loose weight but didn't want to go overboard. I started my weightloss "program" in January, and am now at 145. Here's what I've done:

I only eat when I'm hungry and portion out my food so that I stop eating when I'm full (I eat slowly- especially when I'm eating with friends and family) so that I don't feel awkward and pick at more food after I'm full.

I ate as much fruits and veggies as I could (and not much else) for the first couple weeks, but have shifted to eating whatever I want--- in moderation--- and the weight still keeps coming off. I've also found that I crave fatty foods- like fries and ice cream- less and less the more I eat fruits and veggies, so when I go to- say- McDonalds, I'll get a grilled ckn salad or sandwich (the chicken's still not that healthy but its a whole lot better than fried chicken or those nasty grease-filled burgers). My point is that almost eveywhere you go, you can find something to eat that's better than other things on the menu.

I do cardio at least 3 times a week for between 30 and 50 minutes as hard as I can... I try to keep my heartrate at about 170 the entire time. I swich up my cardio when something gets boring. Sometimes I swim, sometimes I go to an aerobics class, some days I jog on the simulated jogging machine (I have weak knees so I cannot jog on a treadmill), and some days I just take my dog for a long jog/walk. I do weights at least 2 times a week... one day on arms, chest, and back and the other day on legs and butt (abs everyday I workout). I usually am never at the gym for more than an hour, so I don't dread going as much as when I tried packing everything into one long 3 hour workout. The more muscle I get, the more fat comes off and the more I COULD eat without gaining weight.

The problem with crash diets and dietpills is that you might loose the weight fast but you will gain it right back (or if you're like me, take the "diet" to a point where its a life-threatening eating disorder). Also, weight in pounds is often misleading. Although I've only lost about 15 pounds, I've gone from a size 12/13 (at 160 pounds) to a 4/5 (at 145 pounds).

My advise: look at a scale once a month-if you want- but focus more on the measurement of your waist or hips or whatever area you choose. You may loose 2 inches from your waist without loosing any actual pounds and you see the results better than in pounds. Also, if you mess up on your eating one night, just do an extra 30 minutes of cardio the next day.

PM me if you want to ask me anything else *smile* and don't burn yourself out. A 40 minute jog, followed by weights, followed by jump-rope, followed by another 2 mile jog, followed by pilates it too much for one day. Try a 30 RUN one day, weights and jump-rope the next, and pilaties the third day and rotate a routine like that. I hope this helps some.

As someone who has lost and gained a lot of weight in my time, here's my :

A healthy weight loss is about 1-2 pounds a week average. Anything more than that and you're putting your body into crisis mode and it won't stay off.

Don't be a slave to the scale. Listen to Sarah's advice. Nobody brings a scale to the strip club.

Drink lots of water. Believe it or not, being hydrated helps burn the fat off.

Your time of the month will change the amount you lose or the water you retain. Don't beat yourself up.

If you want permanent weight loss, join Weight Watchers. They have a sensible program and lots of support. Remember, its a lifestyle change as well as an eating change.

Finally, I think you have an incredibly beutiful face...I'm ready to buy a few dances right now!
    Good Luck!
