I was wondering if anybody here got nose surgery before, because I am thinking about getting it. But, I need to know how long it takes to heal so I could dance actively again. ???

I've never met anyone who's had it, but I have family in the medical field. So here's what I know.
Most rhinoplasty involves breaking your nose to alter the shape and is fairly traumatic, so you'll likely have black eyes after and some bruising. With good makeup, you could be back to work in 2-3 weeks. Some rhinoplasty can be done with no or tiny incisions inside the nose, but again, the more complex, the more incisions and potential for visible scarring. However, because of the swelling, it can take up to a year to see final results, so don't be upset if you don't like how you look a month after the surgery.
Like any other surgery, research is paramount. I've seen a few doctors who seem to give the same nose to everyone. One doctor I consulted with before my boob job did that and the nose didn't look good on everyone.
"She has written so well, and marvellously well, that I was completely ashamed of myself as a writer...But this girl, who is to my knowledge very unpleasant and we might even say a high-grade bitch, can write rings around all of us who consider ourselves as writers"
Ernest Hemingway on writer, aviation pioneer and horse trainer Beryl Markham

I had rhinoplasty 5 years ago.My surgeon specialized in that area.I had seen several nose jobs that really didnt look any different after, such as the huge humps were still there only, slightly smaller.I told mine I wanted my hump completley gone.My surgeon after surgery, wraps your head and eye area with bandages for a few hours, when I awoke from surgery I was scared because I couldnt see anything. It felt like I had been punched in the nose. When I returned home I thought after the morphine wore off I would be in pain and to my astonishment I was not.Not ever after the inital pain apon awaking after surgery.Ialso never had any back eyes, only sone slight yellow bruising down by my cheecks.I was really pleased, the most I can say was it was extremly uncomftorable because your nose is packed and you have to breath through your mouth for 7 days. But it was not painful for me.My nose was broken as well as reset and the bone and tip shaved down.It did take around 1 year to see the full results.I only wish I had done it sooner.

I to want a nose job. I have heard for the upper class, especially jewish girls in New England area, that it is normal to have your nose done in your teens. Like a right of pasage.
I hate my nose. Small boobs I can deal with but my nose drives me insane. I have learned to accept it a little more over the years. I used to constantly think about it and how people were looking at me, like what angle.
I would be way more confident with a nose job.
How much did everyone on here pay or heard it can cost?
Those who bring sunshine into lives of others, cannot keep it from themselves.
I went to Dr. Komorn in Houston to fix a breathing problem that has since resurfaced (my fault). He didn't do much cosmetically, but most of it was covered by insurance. I wanted my tip fixed and it still hangs down exactly the way it always has. I am going again to someone else in the next couple of years.
My entire face was purple and swollen, I can post a pic of it gladly but I might frighten everyone to hell. Its still changing too since the nose never stops growing. I liked it the first few months because it was a little more narrow, and the small bump was gone, but I'd rather go to a purely cosmetic surgeon in the future instead of an ENT internalist, so that I can have that little MJackson tip I've always dreamed of...hehehehe!
Also, when they took the packing gauze out of my nose after 2 weeks, I can easily say it was the single most painful minute of my life, since the gauze is like 10 times wider than the nostrils, and its all crusted up and stuck in there from the dried gauze and blood. Reminded me of prison sex (lol). Maybe I am just a big baby, but I even took a Xanax beforehand and it was still torture.....
I paid $2000 but the rest was covered by insurance, so not sure what the total would be usually.....

what were the problems you had and how did they fix it through surgery?

Mother Daisy, I paid around 5,000.It varies from around 3000-7000.Katrine, you are right about it constantly changing.I have been wearing sunglasses that sit to low and now Iam developing a indent in the bridge,it looks like there is bone missing there.Only since I have been wearing these glasses over the past year,my nose job is almost 5 years old now.I may have to have my surgeon look at it.I noticed this slightly before like 2 years ago.But it went away.Everyone interested need to know ,it might take 2 sugeries to get it right.

I've considered a nose job for years but I flip flop back and forth. First and foremost, I've always had breathing probs thru my nose. It might sound cliche but I think I have a deviated septum plus partying with nose candy certainly doesn't help. I have weird feelings about the bump on my nose. One one hand, it really isn't too big I just think it makes me look too authorative. On the other hand, it seems to get slightly bigger with passing time and I think removing the hump would give me a more youthful look. But then I would essentially be "erasing" my heritage.
But to quote michele, "I wish I would have done it sooner" and that's exactly how I feel about my boob job; Why the hell did I wait so long?
nose job story for you: I had a friend from Argentina I never knew she had a nose job till she confided in me. Her nose was perfect! She had it done in Argentina for the grand sum of $500 (yes I said five hundred) but she had a local and she told me she could hear the surgeon scraping the bone "crick crick crick" *shiver*
I'm down for the general if I ever do it.
michele, just wondering with the packing does it make u feel like clastiphobic? (bad spelling) I imagine it is uncomfortable,i am have it done next week, along with some other things and i keep thinking the whole nose packing thing is gonna freak me out. help!
I truly had a deviated septum, its not that uncommon, especially if your nose had been broken. The procedure for it is different than the rhinoplasty, but can be done at the same time for the single cost of anesthesia. That, plus the hospital service bill is what kills you in the pricing. Actually, I don't know if they have to pack your nose in gauze for just the cosmetic part, it hurts to think about it. It helped for a while, but allergies are so bad in Texas that my nose is constantly itching and burning with histamine, plus, well, what Sapphire said.....
I head that nose surgery is the most commonly REPEATED cosmetic procedure. Also, my nose looks crooked from certain angles now, it did not before. I have mixed feelings about the entir thing. I would recommend spending the money on really nice hair extentions or lazer hair removal instead...just me $.002

Oh, here is a tip:
After the first 3 days, the painkillers no longer worked on me because the nose was already healing. I had prescription Vicodin which makes my stomach really hurt. At the time, my loser little brother was selling Xanax, and he liked to take Vicodin recreationally, so we switched...
This worked well for me because, like Michele, mouth breathing gives me anxiety and I hate it. Xanax is a sedative or whatever. The discomfort is there, you just won't care. I am sure you can actually get the Dr. to prescribe that or Valium to you legally![]()

i had nose surgery a little while ago to correct my breathing problem. Not too painful. except for the painful memories of me beng held up to go to the bathroom, and missing the toilet while under anesthesia. And in 2 months I am getting cosmetic surgey to correct a deviated septum, a lil nose bump, and according to my doctor, I need a little skin cut off the nostrils?? Im not too sure about that one..But overall im pretty excited.![]()
