Default Detox program? Pros and Cons?

    What's better?

Colonics or a detoxifying diet that lasts over three days?

Anyone tried either and if so, what were the benefits and what were the side effects and which (if you did both) would you recommend?

And in regards to the Detox diet... where can I find one that works well?

I have tried the a detoxifying diet a few times. Each time the results have been different. I usually feel better and lighter after one. But I have also had times when I get a little sick (like a cold or the runs) after a detox diet.
I have always wanted to do a colonic..the closest I ever got was an enema.

i've never tried a colonic, but from what a few friends have told me, i'd generally say that the diet is better...but try to schedule it when you're off. all that stuff has to leave your body, after all...it may make you smell and look not-so-nice. not to mention, your body shouldn't be worked too hard when you fast.

just drink a lot water and "clear" juices (without pulp), green tea, etc. with nothing added. more than that, and you won't really detox much.

    hope that helps

    Ive wondered about these too
I was listening to an infomercial thingy on the radio
..should be a sign that its a bit quacky.. but..

they said the colon cleansers and enemas only clean just that .. but the gross stuff is way up in there .. years of hardening.. mucis placiods or something
(ryan should know about this.. the raw foodists always talk about it) ...
to really clean yourself out it takes 3 months..
not fasting .. just 3 months of taking cleansers - herbs and stuff and really eating clean
there are programs out there but they are so much $$
i could see myself investing and being good for a few days then blow it
but if it truly works i might just buckle down and see

I use a colon cleanser by New Body called CKLS
It works very good, sometimes too good. Like was previously mentioned, you'll get all kinds of smells and you won't always look nor feel your best when taking them. But the results are great.

For detox you can always do the water, lemon, cayenne pepper, and maple syrup drink. My mom does it and she loves it.

    check out this site www.curezone.com

I personally don't usually use supplements during my fasting as my goal is to let my body naturally clenase itself and to let my mind and body get off of the "I need" hamster wheel. Since it took a while to get that impacted crap in your bowel it stands to reason that it may take some time (and lifestyle changes) to get it out. It took me 4 fasts over a 7 month period to get the yuck out of my colon.... This long ti e period gave me healthier respect for my body and it's helped me to watch my diet and exercise more than I think I might have if I'd just popped some pills and done away with it.

That being said if there is a major or acute issue I'd be very open to taking a supplement in my diet as an aid to cleansing. For instance when I fast to kill a yeast infection I take Candida supps.

Everyone's body and needs are different, REsearch everything as best you can--make sure you have no issues that might interfere with a fasting diet like, pregnancy. diabetes, etc. and research some more!

    Here's the recipe
    For one quart:
1 qaurt distilled or purified water.
8 Tbsp.freshly sqeezed lemon juice. (Approx. 2 whole lemons)
6-8 Tbsp. Grade B maple syrup
start with a good pinch of cayenne pepper and work up to 1/8 to 1/4 teas. pepper per quart.
